On both I had updated the chairs by painting the wood frames, one in creamy beige and the other in a beautiful soft grey. I chose my fabrics and discussed the best approach to the seats with Donna, the owner. We decided on springs, foam and fiberfill to create a softly rounded seat and back on the antique French chair. For the other chair we were able to do the seat with foam and fiberfill, no springs. Both chairs look fantastic. The seats are firm and sturdy and beautifully upholstered. The workmanship is flawless. My chairs are showpieces now and I love them. I totally recommend St. Matthews Upholstery. The prices are fair and consistent with other upholstery shops but the best thing is the workmanship is amazing for the price.

She walked me through fonts for each individualized handkerchief as well as colors. I'm not good at this stuff and was indecisive, but she offered suggestions to help me out. I couldn't be happier with how they came out. There was some waiting because one or more of the colors were not stocked, but I was prepared to wait and had plenty of time. I got two seats reupholstered to go from tan to black for a great price. He had even gone out of his way to make some minor modifications to get me some more leg room in my fairly small Miata, as well as spray the plastic bits around the seats black to match. My new covers are slightly modified OEM, so I can't speak to how he does complete custom fabrication, but he was incredibly willing to work with me and think things through.
