Being here is a punishment, instead of focusing on treating and helping the patients. I felt as if I was being punished for a crime when all I did was hurt myself. They constantly guilt tripped me about it (specifically doctor Nguyen whom demands your utmost respect but cannot spare the smallest amount of kindness to people in need of help nobody I talked to had anything good to say about him and patients would commonly have panic attacks before talking to him due to how stressful it is. If you say something he doesn't like, you're forced to stay for longer and If you act out you are drugged with Abilify. It is extremely obvious to anyone with a heart that he only wants this job because it gives him power over people, instead of actually caring about helping patients in need of getting better.) and made me feel just horrible about my actions instead of actually counseling me and helping deal with my feelings. The first night I was held in the waiting room for over 3 hours completely alone, and when I got inside I was forced to sleep in the hallway where they keep very bright lights on at all times, I got horrible sleep and could never tell what time it was for there was no clocks nor windows visible. Being in there only breeds negative thoughts, the only time I was happy was when I was chatting with the other patients (which was technically against the rules, thank goodness they don't enforce all of them.) At least in jail you get a phone call every 2 hours, meanwhile here you get maybe one 15 minute call a day. Not to mention the abominable food, I was there for multiple days and ate in total one thin piece of bacon and a small bag of pretzels. There was also an 8 year old with all of us, whenever he'd slam his head on the walls or floor they wouldn't help at all, just telling him he was only hurting himself. It broke my heart seeing someone so young in there especially when its clear his behavior problems came from his parents. If he had a tantrum (Y'know, like most kids do) they would give him a shot of some drug that isn't disclosed to patients. People going through a mental health crisis need a support system but this place absolutely does not support anyone there, you sit in there every day bored out of your mind replaying horrible thoughts in your head. If you don't bring clothes they have a "donation bin" where I was forced to wear a child's small hoodie (I'm 17) because half the clothes in there you aren't even allowed to wear, and if you don't have proper clothes (best hope you have a good family that will bring them) you will get in trouble with the "doctor" and I'd assume get more days for something completely out of your control. I'm very grateful that my family brought my bible because they have a total of three books, and all the board games are missing pieces. The only thing I learned from this place is that if you're going to commit, then you better make sure it actually ends you. Or at least that's what I thought, but what do I know, according to them I'm crazy. They treat everyone like they're insane when I was only depressed. I'm usually very calm but Nguyen made me want to just yell at him and tell him how horrible he is. It's not like he has feelings though so it wouldn't matter anyway, he'd just give you more days and a shot of the Calm Drug. My sister visited me and afterwards tried to voice her concerns to the workers about how I was treated, she is now banned from ever returning. If you send your child here you are sentencing them to a visit to hell, they should have a sign that says "Abandon all hope, ye who enters here." Every negative review I've seen so far I completely believe for its things they commonly do. Overall this facility and meridian as a whole is horribly abusive and focus more on punishment instead of treatment and rehabilitation, the only people that belong in there are the higher ups who only work there to hold power over helpless kids.

I was referred there by my primary care physician after my longtime psychiatrist retired, at a point when my depression and anxiety had become increasingly difficult to manage despite years of treatment. My therapist, Brooke Recoppa, has worked closely with me throughout that time. What I appreciated most was the thoughtful and professional approach to treatment. Finding the right medication combination and dosage adjustments was a gradual process, not an overnight fix, and Brooke handled that process carefully and efficiently. She also emphasized that improvement required work and changes on my part as well. Over time, the combination of appropriate treatment, medication management, and therapy has made a tremendous difference in my quality of life. I feel more balanced, stable, and genuinely happier than I have at any other point in my life. For the first time, I experience a consistent sense of well-being that does not depend entirely on outside circumstances. Mental health treatment is very personal, and results take time, but my experience with this practice has been extremely positive. I would recommend Sarkis Family Practice, and Brooke Recoppa in particular, to anyone seeking compassionate, professional, and patient-centered mental health care.

Sarkis is on the more expensive side, does not accept insurance, but you get what you pay for. I saw Dr. Solomon until I moved out of state. She was very friendly, compassionate, listened to my needs and sought to meet them. She did seem to be in favor of ECT treatment and brought it up occasionally with me, but ultimately left the decision to me (which I declined). Before Sarkis, I was miserable, bouncing around between medications that either had no benefit or had horrible side effects or were completely unaffordable (I'm looking at you, Latuda, at $1300 for a month's supply). After months of frustration I came to Sarkis looking for better care and found it. My overall experience was great. Front office staff was friendly, professional, and very good with follow up communication. Dr. Solomon was compassionate and followed up with me even when I had moved away from Florida. They got me stabilized and more than just functional, but back to my old self prior to onset of bipolar disorder. I would hands down recommend Sarkis to anyone that can afford it.

She is excellent at her craft: extremely knowledgeable, professional, friendly, compassionate, & accommodating. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing. It is a form of psychotherapy in which the patient recalls distressing images while generating bilateral sensory input. Neurofeedback is a medication-free healing treatment for those who suffer from anxiety, ADHD, OCD, insomnia, etc. In a relaxed setting, it involves the patient watching (on a computer monitor) his/her own brain's activity. Susan Crews also works w/ individuals who may suffer w/ depression, anger, substance abuse, & numerous other mental health issues. Most health insurances are accepted. Call to discuss an appointment date & time; do NOT show up without an appointment as this therapist's days/times vary weekly. (She has a secondary office in Trenton, FL while her Gainesville office is located within Tucker Chiropractic off NW 39th Ave.) This incredibly kind & qualified woman saved my life, but she is too humble to realize just how much she helped me. I had interviewed six PTSD counselors before selecting Ms. Crews. I couldn't have selected a better counselor. I shall always consider her a friend-- just a genuinely GOOD human being.

She actually taught me how to cope when things get overwhelming for me. Honestly, a life changing experience for me, for the better. Counselors are not a one size fits all; find someone you truly trust and with whom you can speak freely without embarrassment or judgement. Susan was this for me. A truly wonderful person who wants her clients to heal; she's not looking for long term clients. She wants to help you so you can move on in a positive way. We incorporated numerous techniques (such as EDMR, I can't even remember the name some of them) and I'm able to use these techniques now by myself. I'm not one who wants to just sit and talk about things with a counselor (had that for years and never got anywhere), I wanted actions I could take to make my life bearable. Susan was extremely helpful in that respect. She's definitely worth a look to see if you fit well together. I'm certainly glad I found her.

The practice is fairly large for a therapy practice according to Dr Evans, but they seem to have an expert to cover pretty much any problem. I know that Dr Evans continues to teach at UF, so I feel good that he is knowledgeable and is well respected in the community. I sent a work colleague to him for some help for her son, she also was very happy with him and it sounds like he really helped her son. He is very easy-going and can be funny when he wants to. I liked that about him. He is clearly very smart but he doesn't talk over your head. I really liked that it was a real conversation with him. It made me feel at ease and I opened up more quickly than I thought that I would. I would say to anyone that you should try and do some research on any Thanks psychologist. I did mine and I'm glad that I did.

I was confused because it's a physical therapist/chiropractors office and when I went inside there was just a man on a treadmill and no one else. I walked back outside, called, no answer, left a voicemail. Walked back inside and finally a woman came out and told me to sit down and that Rachel rents a room from them and she'd be out to get me. Finally it's 10:30 and I'm still waiting- I approached the woman again and she stated that Rachel's car was not outside so she's not even there. I called, no answer, left another voicemail saying I was leaving. Rachel didn't call me back until 2pm after I sent an email to her around 1:45pm. She called and apologized, stating she was looking at last weeks calendar and that it was an accident. Accidents happen, I get it, but I just thought it was really unprofessional that she never called till hours later after I had to reach out numerous times and then through email. This could have been a really really bad situation for someone. I feel like if you're a therapist and working with fragile people you have to be more responsible.
