I was baker acted and sent to this facility. The main staff aren't so bad, but the higher ups are emotionally manipulative and abusive. Being here is a punishment, instead of focusing on treating and helping the patients. I felt as if I was being punished for a crime when all I did was hurt myself. They constantly guilt tripped me about it (specifically doctor Nguyen whom demands your utmost respect but cannot spare the smallest amount of kindness to people in need of help nobody I talked to had anything good to say about him and patients would commonly have panic attacks before talking to him due to how stressful it is. If you say something he doesn't like, you're forced to stay for longer and If you act out you are drugged with Abilify. It is extremely obvious to anyone with a heart that he only wants this job because it gives him power over people, instead of actually caring about helping patients in need of getting better.) and made me feel just horrible about my actions instead of actually counseling me and helping deal with my feelings. The first night I was held in the waiting room for over 3 hours completely alone, and when I got inside I was forced to sleep in the hallway where they keep very bright lights on at all times, I got horrible sleep and could never tell what time it was for there was no clocks nor windows visible. Being in there only breeds negative thoughts, the only time I was happy was when I was chatting with the other patients (which was technically against the rules, thank goodness they don't enforce all of them.) At least in jail you get a phone call every 2 hours, meanwhile here you get maybe one 15 minute call a day. Not to mention the abominable food, I was there for multiple days and ate in total one thin piece of bacon and a small bag of pretzels. There was also an 8 year old with all of us, whenever he'd slam his head on the walls or floor they wouldn't help at all, just telling him he was only hurting himself. It broke my heart seeing someone so young in there especially when its clear his behavior problems came from his parents. If he had a tantrum (Y'know, like most kids do) they would give him a shot of some drug that isn't disclosed to patients. People going through a mental health crisis need a support system but this place absolutely does not support anyone there, you sit in there every day bored out of your mind replaying horrible thoughts in your head. If you don't bring clothes they have a "donation bin" where I was forced to wear a child's small hoodie (I'm 17) because half the clothes in there you aren't even allowed to wear, and if you don't have proper clothes (best hope you have a good family that will bring them) you will get in trouble with the "doctor" and I'd assume get more days for something completely out of your control. I'm very grateful that my family brought my bible because they have a total of three books, and all the board games are missing pieces. The only thing I learned from this place is that if you're going to commit, then you better make sure it actually ends you. Or at least that's what I thought, but what do I know, according to them I'm crazy. They treat everyone like they're insane when I was only depressed. I'm usually very calm but Nguyen made me want to just yell at him and tell him how horrible he is. It's not like he has feelings though so it wouldn't matter anyway, he'd just give you more days and a shot of the Calm Drug. My sister visited me and afterwards tried to voice her concerns to the workers about how I was treated, she is now banned from ever returning. If you send your child here you are sentencing them to a visit to hell, they should have a sign that says "Abandon all hope, ye who enters here." Every negative review I've seen so far I completely believe for its things they commonly do. Overall this facility and meridian as a whole is horribly abusive and focus more on punishment instead of treatment and rehabilitation, the only people that belong in there are the higher ups who only work there to hold power over helpless kids. read more

An absolutely horrifying, traumatizing experience. Do not send your children here. I was Baker Acted here in April 2025, and the way I was treated was completely unacceptable. I was struggling with trauma and self-harm, and instead of helping me, their solution was to put me on "close observation." This meant I was forced to sleep on a nearly deflated mattress on the floor in the common living area with the lights kept on 24/7. I had absolutely zero privacy--staff watched me while I showered and used the bathroom. They put me on "finger foods," but then served me liquid chili/stew with a flimsy paper spoon that couldn't scoop anything. If I couldn't eat it, I was threatened with extended stays and forced to write disciplinary essays. Because of the observation status, I wasn't even allowed a pen and had to write at least four essays a day using crayons. The doctor was incredibly rude, degrading, and unprofessional. He constantly interrupted me, told me I was wrong about everything, and would yell at me if I cried or said "I don't know." Every morning with him left me in tears, and he would force me to write essays apologizing for my reactions. To make matters worse, he lied to my parents about what I said and kept them completely in the dark until the last minute. They put me on Risperidone, which caused horrible side effects, leaving me constantly shaking and feeling like I was losing my mind. The facility itself was disgusting, with mold all over the showers and bathrooms. The staff played favorites, and if they didn't feel like taking us outside, we just weren't allowed to go. When I reported being sexually harassed by other kids, the staff dismissed my claims, claimed I was lying based on incorrect file notes, isolated me from my peers, and forced me to sit in a corner. Faced with staying in that CSU for another three months or going to a residential rehab center in Lake City, FL, for 6-9 months, I chose rehab. That turned out to be just as bad. Within my first three days, a massive fight broke out because a staff member (Mr. Jason) used racial slurs against a resident, leading to a huge, triggering confrontation where multiple kids were kicked out. The other staff, Miss Shelley and Miss Reva, were highly manipulative and cruel. While at the Lake City facility, I was molested twice. When I reported it, they brushed it off and even hung up the phone on my dad when I tried to tell him what happened. When I tried to press charges against the person who assaulted me, Miss Shelley threatened me, stating that if I pressed charges, she would press charges against me and my friend who witnessed it. I was coerced into dropping it out of fear, and then she forced me to publicly apologize to all the other girls in the program for "lying," even though I was telling the truth. The environment was incredibly unstable--fights happened constantly, and kids were always pulling the fire alarms to automatically unlock the doors and run away. This place did not help me heal; it made my mental health significantly worse. Please, if you care about your kids, do not send them here. read more

you could quite literally improve everything. called the number to speak to someone about my pregnant sister not being fed and not getting the antibiotics she needs and the lady on the phone said thats not true. they are willing to completely withhold care from you, no food, and then call you a liar. please for the love of god dont go here youre better off with a knife in your hand. read more

One of the worst places out there. The doctor is abusive verbally and lies and makes stuff up. I only went outside 1 time in 9 DAYS. Worse than a jail. Takes 6 hours to get in there. Didn't have a pillow night 1 and slept in a deflated mattress. Some parents use this place to threaten kids and the only good thing is some of the other staff are nice. read more

Rude front desk staff. Not allowed to use public bathroom merely 10-15ft from desk. Impolite to whomever staff was on phone with as well as myself. Could not/would not help me locate a bathroom although no one was in lobby and phone wasn't ringing. No thank you to this institution. read more

Attempting to have my daughter seen for an evaluation. Obtaining the actual appointment took approximately 1 month of constant phone tag. The office is "closed on Friday, Saturday, Sunday," but be expecting random phone calls to inquire about your appointment needs on a Sunday afternoon or not at all. Trying to call the office and speak with anyone to even ask a question is almost impossible. BEWARE you will NOT know what is going on until the moment before it is expected. I was informed 2 business day's prior to my daughters appointment (a 2 month wait from the PCP appointment where we were referred and started attempting appointment set-ups), that the appointment was for ME- my daughter would not be seen. No one had informed me of this and the receptionist found it appropriate to attempt to argue this fact. I would steer clear and look for a place that is organized and seems (or even ACTS) like they care for their patients. read more

One of the worst things to happen to me. The doctor told my mom i hated her because he asked if i think about my mom all the time, and i told him no because i was thinking about my future. He would also make me talk about uncomfortable things. He made me talk about my abusive father even if i didnt want too. He also made me come out to my mother over the phone when i had my weekly family meetings. i wasnt ready to come out and i told him that but he just said that i dont need to keep anything from my mom. my friend who also went there was raped and got pregnant from it. She lost the baby. She told the doctor this and the doctor told her that it was her fault that she was raped and loss her child. read more

Do not go here. The therapist is hit or miss, and often you go through many therapist. For the medicated part of it all, they don't want to help people with ADHD get medication, they want to prescribe Zoloft and other sedatives for the depression that usually accompanies ADHD. I have had several friends tell me that their therapist wouldn't work on the issues they wanted to work on, and one got shoved in a group therapy instead of single because her therapist thought she could do fine already with her bipolar disorder, and didnt want to help her with the abuse she went through living with her mom. Another friend of mine got put in the over night facility because he said he stopped putting people on a pedestal, which is healthy to not give yourself and others high expectations if you have anxiety and depression, my current therapist said that is a good way to keep yourself from being let down. They kept him there for many days even though they admitted he's of sound mind. All because he told them while in there that he didn't like them shoving meds down his throat for ptsd and depression. 3 ENTIRE DAYS. They also wouldn't give him medication for his ADHD( which was his main issue because hes worked through his ptsd and is a very loving and social person), they just wanted to give him sedatives that made it hard for him to stay awake at work. They have not ever properly helped me in therapy, I went to see a therapist at my college instead who introduced me to CBT therapy and in 3 months my life has turned around just from seeing that other therapist not from here. The meds they gave me in school made me not able to gain weight i was considered underweight and almost 100lbs for a 5'7 woman, which is horrible. They wouldn't take me off them so I quite going and gained healthy weight in college. And there is mold in the over night building, I am sure they probably pay someone off. Doctors there are on a power trip and they need to be replaced with doctor's who care about helping people, not asserting dominance or lining their pockets from big pharma. I would give a 0 if I could. YOU ARE BETTER OF GOING TO ANY OTHER THERAPY OR MENTAL HEALTH ORGANIZATION IN THIS TOWN. Try going to one of the colleges centers if you are student or see about low cost help else where. When in doubt, call the suicide hotline, they will help woth whatever they can, which is more than can be said for this hell-hole. read more

I know someone who worked for Meridian. I got to hear how sketchy they truly are. They have racist working in top levels of the company. They truly do not care about their employees or patients. Do yourself a favor stay away from this place. They fire you if you have any kind of medical issues, they expect you to work off the clock, and change your times to ensure they dont pay over 40 hrs. The person i know was working close to 70 hrs a week while only getting compensated for 40. A poorly ran mental health hospital. You would think they would take care of their responsibilities, but no. I truly hope employees sue the place. They deserve it. read more

The worst place in existence. My 14-year-old son was admitted against his will without my consent or knowledge-- and nobody at this hell-hole bothered to call me until the following day, late morning, and lefty no message. They accused me of negligence because I failed to answer the phone when they called, but I had been awake ALL NIGHT LONG waiting for word about my son's whereabouts, and I had fallen asleep. I called back immediately, but the number that appeared on my phone screen was not an "ingoing" number. I had to reverse engineer the area code and first three just to figure out who they were. When I did manage to contact them with a phone number I found on Google, they refused to put me through to anyone who could explain to me what was going on, how my son was doing, or provide any other information whatsoever. As a physician myself, I would NEVER advise ANYONE to go anywhere near this place. read more

Meridian Detox center is responsible for my sons death. He was a patient at the buprenorphine clinic and was using suboxone for his opiod addiction. He decided he wanted to get off the suboxone. He had been sober and clean of all substances for seven and a half years and was a patient of Meridian's the last 3 and a half years. He told the doctor he wanted off suboxone and started a slow taper weaning himself off. Once it was all gone, he was struggling and felt he needed help detoxing from the subs. He called the Meridian crisis hotline 3 times only 4 days before he died 4 months ago. Only to be told he would need to test positive for a drug to get help. This led him to go out and get drugs off the streets and he died from fentanyl and Xylazine poisonings. Meridian knew his history, they knew he made a decision to stop the subs, he called them begging for help and they sent him to his death but not helping and telling him he had to test positive for a drug to come to their detox !!!! Now my sweet precouis 33 year old son is dead and they could have prevented it, if they would have helped him. They should not even be in this business, when they are leading people to their deaths instead of saving life's. Please CEO Donald Savoie call me and explain this to me because you will not answer your phones there and its impossible to reach anyone !!! I am going to the media with this !!! Shame , shame, shame, on you all. I feel they are responsible for my son's death because when he reached out for help, they sent him out to do drugs to test positive which led to deadly fentanyl and Xylazine poisonings !!!!! read more

There are very few people that work here that actually do their job. I've been treated with total disrespect many times over. Certain people can get away with anything there and other people are crucified for doing the same things. There needs to be more professionalism and caring for the clients needs. It's saved my life going here because I did the work because I wanted it. That being said there needs to be a lot of things changed and rules followed by some workers here. With the Coronavirus, they should of gotten people take homes weeks before they did. Hurricane and things happen and it takes them till last minute to do what needs to be done weeks before. And a lot of people goes without take homes because people aren't on top of there jobs. read more

The in service on site is great and the counsellors are way nice and understanding but where I have a problem with is the hands on is for people slower than me and I understand that perfectly but I am not responsible to know where everyone is so I can inform the worker looking for them. What a horrible place. They don't care one iota about their patients. The nurse I saw, when I had an appt. to see an M.D., was rude, uncaring, and showed a lack of compassion that I have never experienced in a healthcare setting. She proceeded to, for no reason whatsoever, start accusing me of abusing my medication, which is simply not true. If they were worried about that, why wouldn't they have told me to bring my bottles, which I happily would have done. After talking to me for 10 minutes, says that every psychiatrist, psychologist, and therapist I've seen in the past 10 years is wrong with their diagnosis and treatments. I think that most people that do go there are court ordered, so they can treat them however they like, and don't make a distinction as to when someone is there voluntarily, seriously looking for help. Don't ever bring yourself or a loved one here, unless you want to come away feeling worse than you did when you came in. read more
