Both of our daughters have been through the school, from the Nido Community (infants) to the Young Children's Community (2-3 year olds), and continuing through the Children's house (3-6 year olds). Our favorite teachers are basically like family at this point, from Miss Kristen, to Miss Virginia, and Miss Jennifer and Miss Meryze. They have been so instrumental in the upbringing of our girls and we couldn't have asked for a better school.

On the last day of school last year, I lost my job and I was devastated. The first thought that crossed my mind was I wouldn't be able to send my daughter for another year because there was no way we would be able to afford tuition. And actually, we were already receiving a 50% discount. This was devastating for a plethora of reasons. One, I was desperate to have my child keep receiving a Christ centered education AND, I was so scared to lose touch with the community that we had built over the past year. So with a heavy heart I went to Karon (the Director) and Laura (Director of Community Engagemen) and told them we needed to unenroll my daughter from attending the next (THIS YEAR 24-25). The first thing they said was not, ok lets get her unenrolled but: We're so sorry this happened - do NOT unenroll her. It is more important for her to have this Christ centered education than it is for you to worry about how you will pay for it. We WILL work this out. And also, how else can we support you? They will forever have my heart for how they handled this. I also love it for the fruits I see taking root in my daughter. Conflict resolution, spiritual and emotional character development. Here's why: Good daycares look like this: 1) happy, thriving kids, 2) administrators who puts kids and families first, 3) professional and communicative teachers, and 4) an open and welcoming environment. Bad daycares look like this: 1) kids who don't want to go to school or kids who are anxious when they get home from school, 2) administrators who put the interest of the institution before children and families, 3) teachers who are afraid to communicate with parents because the administration institutes such harsh parameters, and 4) classrooms with closed doors, restrictive timeframes, and zero lesson plans/schedules/weekly or monthly newsletters. If you've guessed that I'm describing Abiding Love in the third paragraph...you would be correct. Do yourself a favor. Avoid this place at all costs. Even if the administration has changed, I would guess the culture here is still toxic. The church's pastor and board do little to nothing, in my opinion, to provide oversight or a layer of accountability here.

This statement is incredibly accurate. This Abiding Love establishment is a very anti-family establishment and pushes back hard on parents with concerns of any kind. It was truly alarming that even when taking these concerns up the chain of command, that the disorganization and poor management offer little to no support, even when offering examples of poor behavior and management by their current director. She is a true dictator who thrives off of her self-prescribed power role as a children's daycare director. She feels very entitled (as do several teachers) to dismiss parent concerns because they truly believe that they know all there is to know on child development. This could not be further from the truth, especially considering the director does not have children of her own, yet insists that she knows what is best for your child. This past winter, when other childcare facilities were going out of their way to support families during the winter storms, this facility closed it's doors, for not just one week, but for two entire weeks. This was the last straw for us. During this time, all other childcare facilities in Austin were open, but not Abiding Love. Instead of making life easier for parents and families, they knowingly made it more difficult, with zero damage to the facilities, and with lies and excuses being made along the way. If you choose this facility, just know you must be willing to drop your child off, put your head down, not ask questions, expect to fall in line, and do not expect a sense of community whatsoever.

They are open for long hours which is convenient for trying to balance school and work. The location is incredibly convenient with easy access from South Congress or I-35, Buda, South Austin, etc. They're flexible, recognizing and meeting specific needs of different personalities of the kids. For example on the mornings I have to drop off early for an early class, my daughter cries more, she's tired, and wants human contact. I often see one of the teachers pick her up to comfort her. My daughter is really learning so much there. I'm constantly amazed at how much she knows in terms of vocabulary, songs, motions, and she isn't even 2 yet. It means a lot to me that she is growing up hearing and learning to recognize English and Spanish as well. It seems they're always cooking something up when I get there and it smells great. I know my daughter is eating well there and everything is made with care. The owners even made a delicious brisket and sides from scratch for a Mother's Day luncheon. They're so thoughtful and help with the whole development of my child. I can't say enough good things about them.

It's never easy to leave your child with other people, and the first week was definitely difficult for me as a parent, but these women made the transition easy and I know my child is getting exceptional care from them.
