He was told it would be $125 just to come to the house (which is a bit ridiculous) and the total repair, including fee for the call, would be about $275. When repairman arrived, he flipped the couch, with nothing put on floor under it. He immediately said that whatever my husband told him was wrong was not the issue and that it would now be $350. Wow!! I thought that was a bit much so I contacted my husband and he said ok. What needed replaced was the small pull (the cup) on the side of the couch and the cable underneath. The repair was made in 15 minutes. The repairman said he had to try 3 cables to find the one that fit. I paid him and he left. I searched online afterward, feeling I'd been bamboozled and I was pretty much right. The cost of the cup and cable, a universal one, is from $10-25. We just paid $225 for that same part! I checked with a few other companies and they said it would be from $125-$150 to do the work. I will not be using this company again. What a rip off!! There's a video on YouTube to do it yourself. At 3:30pm I called and asked if he was coming. Their office is only a mile away from my house. He said he was on his way. I asked for and ETA because I needed to work and that I took the morning off. He said "Well I didn't tell you to take time off of work to wait for me!!!" I said never mind and hung up. I'm SO DISAPPOINTED!!!! Carlos Ramírez repaired an old Chippendale camel-back sofa whose solid hard woodbase had collapsed. I had purchased the antique sofa 40+ years ago at an auction in Miami. I wanted to save it. The work required was a combination of carpentry, upholstery & furniture restoration (removing & reinstalling all the springs). Carlos Ramírez responded to my email promptly. He was able to assess the work through a number of detailed photographs I sent (where I tried to explain what was wrong with the sofa.) Within 24 hours after submitting my request, we agreed to have the work done in my home. The work was completed as promised on time.
