The website says they take appliances. Called to inquire, the person cut me off to say they don't and hung up on me.

As crooked as the day is long. They paid Cat5 price for THHN wire. Cheated me $1.50 per pound. Never again! Zero stars!

It's weird but I kind of love this nice, big recycling center. You can bring so much stuff here to…read moredispose of or recycle. One one side of the facility you can bring cardboard and other mixed recycling of the sort that you probably also get picked up at home, as well as scrap metal (separate bins for aluminum and non-aluminum) and organics. But the drive-inside section is where you can give them old or broken electronics, chemicals such as cleaning supplies, and hazardous waste. They also take plastic bags and similar plastic film. Some things they won't take include styrofoam, construction debris, or any appliances with freon such as freezers or air conditioners. There is a whole indoor section with large room of reuse shelves. It is filled with paints and chemical supplies that were brought in for disposal, but they deemed them reusable. (NOTE: there are limits to the number of visits and items you can take; see my pics.) And they have a calendar of programs such as a "fix-in clinic" where community members will try to fix broken stuff you bring in, and gently-used school supply drives. Also there is a small free library! (NOTE: don't give it books, just take them. Give books to an actual library instead.) They are only open Tuesday through Saturday, limited daytime hours, and there is nothing available outside of the opening hours. But when they are open, they are fully staffed with very helpful people.

So this place has moved from its location behind the Capital, to a fancy new building located just…read moreoff of Larpenteur. Easy in and out and the amount of things you can drop off here is awesome. Paints, electronics, batteries, weed killers, fluorescent lights, motor oil, food scraps, regular recycling including scrap metal. Check out the website for more details as it is quite extensive and I have not listed everything. But you know what gives it that 5th star or maybe even deem it worthy of 6 stars? They have a reuse room and offer fixit clinics!!! I've got this 2nd vacuum that the locking piece no longer works. I'm gonna bring it up there to have someone help me fiddle with it. Plus, this new location is closer than the old location. I like it!

I was a K&K customer long before they were K&K.. back when they were Kirschbaum & Krupp when my…read moregrandfather would bring me as a young kid to turn in our aluminum cans and other scrap metal. Which is why I as growing up and becoming an adult TRUSTED and felt RESPECTED as the employees working the yard and the girls in the office made it a pleasant experience. However after going there today I definitely have a changed opinion as I made it to the scale and was handed a business card that stated ONLY MOTOTRIZED VECHILES BEYOND THIS POINT NO WALK-IN OR BICYCLE SCRAP DELIVERY. Personally this is awful as I spoke with a Manager in charge around 3:13 PM and the best he could explain was that they made that rule in effect around a week to a week and half ago. Also like to add that when I asked why they changed that the reason he gave was he was not sure why it just was changed. I could understand if it was because of the current road construction that has taken place since I believe spring of this year, but saying you are not sure does not sound good as a MANAGER of K&K Metal Recycling. As I know for a fact alot of the business they happen to receive are from people who use bikes or happen to not have access to a vechile and are preferred walk-in scrap recyclers. This will not deter me to recycling scrap metal just sucks that a company turned this into a policy and are losing business this way. I hope that in the future that RULE disappears but I know quite a bit of people whom are friends and family whom will not be returning to K&K Metal Recycling. very unfortunate to have this policy on-going. Also the police squad that is posted in the parking lot to suppposedly stop any walk-in/bicycle scrap delivery should pay more attention to stopping said people instead of focused on their phones. At least if I made it to the scale I should have been taken care of one last time, not just told to wait for a manager whom saw me and turned away and seeemed to avoid contact with the person whom walked-in to turn their scrap metal in for recycling. I guess the other scrap metal recycling businesses in the area will get more business as K&K seems to let down a huge community of bicycle/walk-in scrap delivery. sad day for sure to speak
