One of the drawbacks to road trips is the uncertainty of access to a decently clean and comfortable place to sleep along your travels. In plotting out our latest adventure through smaller towns of Nevada, a lack of "nice" accommodations was concerning. That changed once we arrived at Ledgestone, a small hospitality chain I'd never heard of. While it's no Ritz, it's very clean, quiet and comfortable. The lobby is modern, complete with a berry nice business center and once in your room, you have everything you need to get a good night sleep. In fact if you're interested in an extended stay, the room is complete with a complete kitchenette (fridge, stove top, dishes, micro, etc) and a laundry basket for the free washers and dryers located downstairs. And in case there's anything you need, just ask the staff. Both the person that checked us in and the morning front desk person were super nice and helpful. There's no breakfast offered (which is no big deal to me since I like to get out and enjoy the local flavor anyway), but they do offer coffee and tea all day/night in the lobby. If there happens to be another l Ledgestone along any of my future travels, I wouldn't hesitate to book a room.

Thanks Stephanie for showing me around this lovely new hotel that's only been here for 2 months now.

Beautiful and brand new. It was a little hard for us to find... then it was pretty close right behind Winger's restaurant.

Beautiful room, had a contemporary feel

Really nice hotel. Hallway and lobby feels like you're in an office building, but pretty tidy so can't complain. Rooms were very spacious and had a contemporary vibe to it. Nicely stocked kitchen with two burners were a nice addition. Kinda weird how sliding door to close bathroom was on the outside. Also, closet was inside bathroom so kind of inconvenient for the other person. Pillows were comfy and bed wasn't too bad but a little firm for my liking. All in all not too shabby!

So on one of the busiest weeks of the year, I was looking for a replacement six-night stay with two beds in a room, breakfast (ideally) and clean, safe environment. I found it and more at TownePlace Suites, thanks to host Douglas who searched me out a room that would work, hunted down my old Marriott membership number, and reserved the space 'til I could cancel my existing reservation and get myself across town. Though the price point initially set me back on my heels, he won me over with his promise of breakfast, dinners (this week special for Cowboy Poetry Gathering), and a functioning Jacuzzi. (What can I say? It's a long drive out here!) Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by James and another staff member who gave me the rundown. I asked if I could bring my own food down for breakfast "since I have food issues" and James walked me over to the breakfast nook to show off the GLUTEN-FREE and DAIRY-FREE options that are there on the regular, from rolls and muffins to soymilk within arm's reach. In my room, I found a kitchenette complete with clean, cool fridge/freezer, a sink, microwave, dishwasher, dishware and utensils and enough pots and pans to cook on the two burner built-in hotplate/electric stove top. There were two clean, nicely made beds, a clean bathroom, table large enough for four people, and two easy chairs, and more. SOLD! Yes, pricier than others. Yes, in Elko you get what you pay for.

We recently stayed in Valencia (CA), and it was fabulous. Can we take a moment to camp on my Front Desk experience? ARIEL (like the Little Mermaid) was FABULOUS (and deserves a big, fat raise -- are ya listening, bosses???) and went over and above to make me feel welcome. She then went over and above to get distilled water to me for my BiPAP machine (and while personally delivering that, helped with the thermostat so I didn't try to set off the fire alarm again by thinking it was in fact the thermostat. ADDENDUM: This visit went far and away above and beyond anything I might have expected (which is always simple kindness in return to kindness I extend). All staff were amazing: Meg at the Front Desk who is professional yet kind, and didn't just accommodate my ADA requirements at present, but rather celebrated me as a human and treated me with dignity and respect; Isabel at the Front Desk; Isobel in housekeeping; Just-Mike (I think, as I cannot find my notes!) who "just does the laundry," and let us take a moment to reflect on a hotel without sparkling clean sheets or towels!); Bethany in both housekeeping and kitchen prep, that sweet girl who prepared my plate for me!; everyone but the Night Man who was asleep when I was struggling to get off the elevator and I believe slept through my desperate ringing of the bell (no sign on desk he was away), suddenly appearing and claiming he had been "in the bathroom." Our server was extremely kind and explained the menu, process, and local favorites The Pico Punch had a touch of Vicks 44, but that's exactly what it should taste like. The quantities are huge. Cabbage soup broth was delicious. Italian bread would be better if warmed, but still good. The salad was robustly tossed and the dressing had a nice touch of garlic. The steak sandwich was tender and had an excellent marinade/flavor. Fries: very greasy and not their finest moment. NOT anymore! You can read my reviews of "Red Lion" if it's still available, and surely you're reading this updated review for Maverick. WHAT a turn around. First off, I was offered a comp weekend because of my experience a few years back. That particular GM wasn't there, but I called to see if they were still honor a comp room for a night, and despite there being a couple years in between my last visit, they still honored that promise. That spoke volumes. My room, was perfect, exactly what I'm used to with this place. Didn't eat at Aspen this time, just some gambling and cocktails. We started off in the back bar, and I can't remember the nice lady's name, but she was on point. WE gambled and drank a bit, then went and gambled a little bit more, and actually won all of our money back, so we decided to sit in the front bar and just pay for drinks so I didn't give the house back the money hahaha Char (pronounced like 'Cher', not Char-Broil hahaha) was our bartender in the front bar. She actually helped us on the floor also before we sat to drink. It was the day after christmas, and their staff was run wire thin, they were covering the floor and bartending, busting their butts. I've never had an issue with service here, ever. It was cold outside, even snowed overnight. Not a single issue with the AC, despite others complaints. Thank you guys again, for honoring your promise from years past. Our stomachs growled so we both agreed to grab a table for an unplanned breakfast. We hit the jackpot with our waitress Mary, very nice lady. She even surprised us with some unexpected Spanish speaking; I was glad I didn't have to translate for my friend this time. We ordered a $26 Steak-n-eggs plate each which consisted of a portion of hard chewy steak, dry hash browns that felt and tasted like catholic first-communion wafers, 2 eggs and some oddly delicious pancakes (their texture was firmer compared to the conventional, which I enjoyed very much). Mary came to us right after we took our first bite checking if everything was alright. Up to where we were at the moment, we said yes and kept eating. It wasn't until later down the process that we realized we were not enjoying the plate nearly at all. Mary's great service and personality does not match the quality of food served in this restaurant. I really want to go see her again, but I sincerely don't want to eat the food served here. This first sweet and sour experience is now engraved in me, but one experience out of thousands does not define the place, so I suggest you give this place a chance.
