Only stayed because my usual holiday inn express was booked. There were fruit flies in the sink and the AC unit smelled NASTY (like mold and mildew). Could not change rooms due to being at full capacity. My friend said her room was okay but I didn't have the same experience. It's a little noisy in the hallways and there is no AC in the lobby which gets very hot. I would honestly rather sleep in my car than stay here again. read more

I don't think I've ever had a worse stay at hotel in my life. I did not feel safe or comfortable here at all. Don't expect the hot tub, pool, or fitness center to be open when you arrive. They advertise it heavily but their reviews show that they haven't had them available for 5+ months. The hot tub suite is an absolute joke. All the carpet around the tub is stiff and crusty from years of being soaked with water. There are no instructions on how to use the jets - as a result we accidentally turned on the tub while the jets were on, resulting in one jet spraying the corner of the bed full on and one jet spraying the back wall and raining it upon the room. When I told the front desk what happened they said they would send in a maintenance guy to take care of it. When I returned an hour later the water was still everywhere but there were muddy shoe prints on the tub. I guess pointing the jets down was their solution. The cleanliness of this suite was by far the worst part. Broken electrical outlets, staining on the lamp shades, a office chair so broken the thrift store wouldn't take it. This was not a comfortable stay whatsoever. Oh and to top it off the front door didn't work either. Confirmed. Pre-checked in. Arrived -- hotel was closed and abandoned. My wife, our two small dogs, and I meticulously planned a trip from Arizona to Washington with three Best Western stops...Henderson, NV; Wells, NV; and Baker City, OR. Henderson went fine. But in Wells, NV, disaster struck: despite having a valid confirmation number and even completing pre-check-in the day before, we arrived to find the hotel completely closed for repairs. No notice. No warning. Nothing. Best Western's own corporate rep was shocked, unable to reach the property, and admitted she didn't know it was shut down. Yet Best Western still took my reservation, sent me confirmations, and let me check in online, for a hotel that wasn't even open. Imagine checking in for a flight, printing your boarding pass, arriving at the airport, only to discover the airline no longer exists. That's exactly what this felt like. This isn't a small inconvenience. It's a betrayal of trust. When you're traveling long distances, especially with pets, a confirmed reservation should mean peace of mind, not the sinking feeling that your hotel may be a phantom property. I can only hope tomorrow's stop isn't another non-existent hotel. But fellow travelers, consider this your warning: Best Western's "guarantee" is not a guarantee. When got in the morning for my meeting we had no hot water. I went to Th hr front desk and was told several rooms had not jot water. No attempt to get us another room with hot water. Management didn't do a darned thing not even good lip service. No offer to refund even a portion of our room rate is or give me points towards another Night. Been using best western for years. It had been a long day of driving, so we decided to stop early for the day. The BW Elko Inn was very convenient for us. Clean rooms. Doggie friendly. A Mexican restaurant within walking distance and a laundry area just two doors from our room. The only bummer about that was the front desk didn't have any quarters. But I was able to get some at the Mexican restaurant! We were able to park our car right near the front entrance to the hotel, too, so it felt secure. read more

Check in was swift and polite..but honestly that's where it ends. I've always been a rewards member, and have had good experiences. But over the last 3-4 years the chain has gone to crap... I mean the newly remodeled BW in downtown sacramento is now housing for the homeless..this use to be a beautiful property and home away from home.. But, I have stayed at the Elko BW on two occasions, summer and winter. It's dirty, old, run down and the amenities they advertise are false - see photos. The free breakfast, gross - should you put a Brunson burner under the scrambled eggs or is cold the new? The bacon, floating in a bed of cold grease. The coffee wasn't even warm at best.. two of three ice machines, on the bottom floor- out of order of course. If I recall, they were broken last time I was here as well. Pool area, dirty, no towels, jacuzzi wouldn't start, pretty sure those drains should have covers..I will let the "fitness center" photos speak for its self.. Probably should invest in some ice melt, and some mats for the entry's- slick as snail snot..oh and never mind both my keys not working, so I had to hike across the parking lot, leave folks in the snow and 18 degrees to get new keys.. No complaints here, it's a Best Western! All I was looking for was a hotel in Elko that allowed big dogs and this hotel is perfect for that! I was shocked how busy this place is. So if you stay here, expect busy. Busy with people and dogs. The complimentary breakfast was really good! The biscuits,gravy, eggs, bacon, fresh coffee! What more can you ask for?!? I thought the rooms were clean, the in room amenities were great. Quiet considering how busy this place is. They did only give one room key because of the chip shortage, the front desk said. Ok, I go out of my way to be generous and overlook small issues to give good reviews anytime possible, and I have a high tolerance for some stuff, but this hotel is DISGUSTING! If it wasn't so late at night, we might have gone somewhere else, but let me tell you a bit about why you should NEVER come here unless and until this place is completely remodeled. First the bad: When coming through the back entrance into the hotel, I was overcome by the STANK of dried urine! The chairs were brown tinged and had gross spots all over them. See pics! The carpet in our room was very dirty, stained, worn and had sticky pink spots in many places. See pics! It was so bad we actually had to ask for about 15 extra towels just to lay down to create paths to enable us to navigate the room without contaminating our feet! See pics! Whoever designed the bathroom made the door, when it's open, blocks 60% of the tub, so it was very difficult to bathe our young children, who we put right in bed after so they wouldn't rub up on or walk around on this carpet. The sealant on the tub was coning off and discolored too. Also there are very few spare outlets for plugging things in, and some of those outlets were worn out, and the plugs just fell out. SO ANNOYING!! Then there's the toilet seat. It's ok that they weren't soft close, but because of the way the toilet was, it's IMPOSSIBLE to make the seat stay up for a man to pee. Small, but lame. I even tried taking the top of the tank off to create a bit more room, but it wasn't even close to balancing up. Now the good: They do seem to have new paint and new mattresses on the beds, and they seem ok so far, as I am currently sitting on one writing this review. Also the front desk guy was very nice and understanding every time I came down for towels, and even told me to write a review, which I promised I was already going to. Overall, this ties the worst experience we ever had at a hotel before, that one being the Pearl, in San Francisco. Nope, never staying here again, mostly due to rude and uncaring staff. I first had an issue with a simple and legitimate medical accommodation request (for which I could have provided a doctor's letter). The lady who answered the phone couldn't have cared less until I asked to speak to a manager regarding the request. She became quite helpful after that, which I appreciated. Check-in went smoothly when we arrived. Unfortunately, we all woke up with allergies in our room, not sure from what. But the real fun began at breakfast. We arrived at 8am, with an hour left until breakfast was over. I typically book hotels with hot breakfasts during travel to save time and money (shout out to Hampton and Holiday breakfasts!). When we arrived, there were no eggs or potatoes. I politely informed the employee (older lady with white/gray hair and glasses) about the items and she said "the eggs are cooking but I'm not making any more potatoes because they take 40 minutes". She went on to say, "people think this is a buffet, but it's a hotel". Not fully realizing who all was working this breakfast at this point, and taken aback by her "buffet" comment, I replied "it seems the breakfast refills could be better planned ahead". I quickly gathered she was the one in charge of breakfast because she became defensive, raised her voice a bit and said "you're just mad because you're hungry". Umm, ok, maybe. But I didn't express anger the way she did, more disappointment mixed with curiosity about the way the breakfast program was running. At this point, there's a line of people coming in the door looking at the empty trays where eggs and potatoes once were. I go sit down with my family and a front desk employee (Dottie) comes in and asks the employee what was the matter (because she heard her get upset). After they speak for a few seconds, Dottie turns around to the dining room filled with people and announces to everyone, "some lady was mad about the eggs" and "this employee is doing a great job" etc. Then people clapped for the lady, lol! No one knew the conversation we'd had or what she'd said to me, so it was fine, and not as embarrassing as it sounds. I couldn't believe the lack of care and effort, then this Dottie lady (who seemed like the employee's friend) announcing "some lady" to other guests without having a clue what was actually said was the icing on the cake. Terrible customer service, albeit a slightly comical experience my family and I will laugh about again someday. I stand by the idea that potatoes are cheap (and the only gluten-free starch in the place) so why not project a little better and start a new batch of potatoes sooner, especially on a Sunday morning in summertime. read more

This is the second time we stayed at the Best western Elko inn. It is convenient place to stay while traveling east. Breakfast is included. They offer oatmeal, eggs and bacon, biscuits and gravy. Hard boiled eggs and fresh fruit is also available. We used reward points for this stay and got the Dhillon suite. It had a kitchen, queen bed in a private room with a tv, a couch and a king sized bed with a tv. The bathroom had a vanity outside the room with the tub and toilet. I decided to establish a scale for rating hotels and motels. I apply the same scale for "luxury" hotels as well as economy motels as I stay in all types depending on where I am traveling and the purpose. After cleanliness there is no particular order. 1. Cleanliness. CLEAN 2. Comfort of bed. GOOD 3. Comfort of pillows. Are there both firm and soft available. GOOD 4. How new is the room decor and fixtures 5. Quality of room. This includes size, temperature, smell, lighting. AMPLE LIGHTS 6. Quality of bathroom. This includes size, lighting, ventilation. GOOD 7. Bathroom amenities. These include magnifying mirror, presentation, quantity and quality of toiletries. Softness of tissue and towels. AVERAGE. NOTHING SPECIAL. 8. Friendliness of staff. It did the job. The bed was clean....but it was overall just not great. A bathroom that you had to wiggle around the door to get in the shower...by holding on to a towel rack, zero counter space and 10 seconds of hot water and medium cool water after. Shower curtain had holes, paint was peeling. We had just stayed for a week in an amazing Best Western, so we were incredibly disappointed to pay double for this mess. Breakfast...nothing there almost sn hour before it was too end. Eggs, bacon...all gone. A handful of instant oatmeal packets and that was it. Coffee wasn't fresh. The lady that was "cooking" (wandering around behind the counter) wasn't doing anything to get more food out. It was like she was done, didn't matter there was an hour left. We got out of there and went to McDonald's before we hit the road. If your desperate and don't care about the breakfast...it will do in a pinch. I would NOT suggest actually making this a "go-to" place to stop/sleep, it's emergent need only). Oh! And no ice. You had to get it with tongs from a open salad bowl in the lobby freezer. Reason for 1 star- There were multiple unmasked people hanging out in the lobby milling about when I checked in. There are signs everywhere telling people masks are required. Even the person who checked me in couldn't be bothered to bring their mask up from under their chin. Get it together Best Western! I specifically booked at BW because they're dog friendly, and I'm part of their rewards program. I booked my room about a month in advance, and called to let them know I'd have two dogs with me. The day before my arrival I filled out the pre-check in info, again informing them I have two dogs. Upon checking in, as I'm being handed my key, I mention my two dogs and am told they didn't know. This hotel was ok. Nothing to write home about. Check in was the best part. The employee, a young man from India, was amazing! Friendly, courteous, and efficient. Our room was less than desirable, but all we could find in town and I was too tire to keep driving. It wasn't clean, but there were no bed bugs. There were bugs, but they were on the floor, in the bathroom. There were also empty Red Bull cans on the floor, under the sink and a partially used shampoo in the shower. Claims to be a 3 star hotel. Let's be honest that doesn't take a lot... no ice, old decor. Less than clean duvets and the reason I am writing this review? Only hot water?!?! So I go to the sink and I turn the water on cold and it comes out hot. I let it run for 30 seconds or so and it gets hotter so I turn it to the other side thinking they have the waterline switched and it gets scalding hot what the heck? So I go to the shower same thing. I called down to the front desk and the lady says did you try turning at the other way to which I reply? Well, of course I did to what she says well yes we do know we have a problem. Let it run for 5 to 10 minutes on the cold setting and it should get cold. this is not right... This is far more common place for a one star motel. Let's be honest, best western is two stars and fast and the claim of three stars... laughable. read more

I happily paid almost twice as much here as another motel in Elko. Tara at reception helped me find the best room for me and my suitcases of gear for a four day stay. As a bonus, Tara also enrolled me in the Best Western rewards program. All staff wore masks properly and were friendly and attentive. My spacious room passed the UV inspection for bedbugs (Latvia. 2003. After that expensive disaster, I always check.), was clean and neat (in the visible spectrum), had a great little shower, clean bath tub, super quiet, GREAT AC, and easy access parking. This is the FIRST motel where the in-room refrigerator was both soundless and did NOT freeze my groceries. (Thank you, BW!) A "bonus" was the fully decorated, festive Christmas tree in the lobby. This was a surprise as my stay was in August. Turns out it is up all year, undoubtedly saving on labor and storage while providing good cheer throughout the seasons. I especially liked the shower. The shower head is raised up for a better shower experience and for taller guests. That is a hardware detail that I have never seen before and points to the special attention given to the rooms. WiFi was fast enough to upload work (VPN always slows things down a bit) and I had phone service. Unfortunately, I missed the clear, dark, unpolluted skies and hiking about in pristine landscapes due to raging wildfires hundreds of miles away. Should I return to Elko, I will definitely stay in this pet-friendly motel, even though I do not travel with the fish from my aquarium. read more

This hotel was substandard on every level. The only thing that might make you think it was any better was a kind of nice lobby. Our room was disgusting. The floor was so dirty that the bottom of my feet were black. The bathroom was horrific - the toilet didn't flush properly, the shower did not work so we were not able to bathe, And the sink in the bathroom did not drain. The TV did not work. I found it completely unacceptable on every single amenity that a hotel is supposed to provide. If we weren't so tired we would've run out of there screaming but the bed seemed to be OK. I arrived at 7pm to check-in I made my reservation the day before. Check in was at 2pm, when I arrived there was line of 5 people waiting and only 1 front desk attendant. I waited for 45 minutes before we were told that all the rooms were dirty and that the location was severely understaffed (1 housekeeper for the entire place). I was told my room wouldn't be ready for 2 hours which at that time would of had me in my room no earlier than 10pm. The manager suggested that we cancel our reservation due to the long wait time, after driving for 10 hours the last thing I wanted to do was look for another room at 8pm. I ended up staying at the Holiday Inn Express down the street which unfortunately was more expensive. On a positive note, the front desk attendant with the man bun and glasses was awesome! He really tried to bring some humor to the situation, I felt extremely bad for him by the time I was leaving there were nearly 11 people in line who were all extremely upset. read more

My husband & his coworker travel to Elko once a month & stays here at least 2 to 3 nights. During his stay in June he learned the ice machine on all the floors were broken. He spoke to the manager & was told they were aware & had repair people coming out. He was out there last month, same ice machines were broken. He is there now & ice machines are still broken. This hotel (should be a motel) offers certain amenities offered to guests & should be a priority for management. This morning the milk was spoiled, came out watery then in curdled clumps. My husband, along with other blue collar working persons deserve a respite when they are away from home & ICE WHEN THEY'VE BEEN WORKING OUTDOORS ALL DAY. I realize this hotel is individually run by by no means is it being supervised, nor kept up. The bathrooms, on more than be occasion, have had hair on the floor, towels, sink & tub. Best Western is getting their full payment from the companies that send their employees there but these employees/ guests aren't getting what they should be in a hotel & it is completely unacceptable. You will soon here what corporate has to say. Your Elko hotel is absolutely disgusting & it's horrible that hard working people have to come "home" to it after a hard day's work. Charged us $250 as a smoking penalty, we do not smoke! Have stayed at best Westerns in Idaho, Oregon and Nevada most are very good. When we checked into a Best Western, Elko, three employees were behind the counter, all on their smart phones. Didn't seem very willing to help. Rooms were fairly clean. The bathrooms could have been cleaned a little better. Plus the maids really need to vacuum along the edges of the carpet and clean around the edges of the bathroom. We have stayed at this hotel many times. This Hotel has a really great breakfast that is often included in the price. The breakfast has hot and cold items. The hot items rotate. The fruit of choice seems to change seasonally. The price of this hotel was decent for Elko. Elko has many special events every year. So it is important to check dates and book early. This hotel has a nice swimming pool and hot tub. Keep in mind there is also a small gym. This hotel is off of Idaho Street. The actual part of the hotel is tucked around the corner and not seen from the street. For breakfast today they had biscuits and gravy, sausage, waffles that you make yourself. There was fruit, yogurt, and a variety of cereal. They had a coffee espresso machine and various fruit drinks. A selection of breads that you could toast with several jams and butter. read more

Best Western Elko Inn has stepped it up! Now when I came here in 2014 the accommodation were okay and the breakfast was not the best. I feel like they have really made some changes for the good. Let's start with the good things. Staff here was awesome and friendly. They were very accommodating. The front desk common area was clean and looked very well kept. I think they made staff changes for the good of this establishment. Checking in was pretty smooth. There was a little hick up but it was on our part and they were very easy about fixing the issue. I was very pleased with it. The accommodation like the pool and gym are good. They gym is small but okay. They have a treadmill in there and worked just fine. The pool and hot tub work very well to relieve a road weary body, trust me I know haha. It was very nice to go in the hot tub after a long drive. There breakfast was pretty good and the quality has improved. I believe they offer hours of 4am-9am for breakfast. They do that for all the people who work at the mines. But they serve a pretty substantial meal. I was very thankful for that. Scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereal, oatmeal, pancakes, yogurt, coffee and so on. Good job Best Western Elko Inn! The not so good but it wasn't to crazy bad. The room was clean enough but had a weird smell. I couldn't quite figure it out on what it was. I just turned the fan on in the shower for awhile and most of it went away. Parking is plenty for regular vehicles but if you have and RV or vehicle taller than 12 feet 6 inches you wont make it over their front drive way and will have to park at the different lot, which was a dirt lot. It was not very good. But my experience in the room and this hotel in general was pretty good. I would definitely recommend these guys. I will also be back to there establishment. So we stayed one night and I'll start with the highlights... the check in staff were so nice and the beds were comfy. We enjoyed the pool however it seems they let anybody in to swim even if they are not guests. The TV in the room didn't work it turned on but no channels were available, the AC unit made a hell of a noise through the night and restful is not how i would describe our stay. We witnessed riff raft from an ex employee and their family in the parking lot. It made us uneasy. Lastly the ice machines were ALL broken. We had to scoop ice from a bowl in a front desk fridge and we were lucky if there was any ice in there. This could be a nice place to stay if they kept out people who were not staying in the hotel and maintained the amenities that were promised on the web site. read more

This was probably the worst stay I've ever had in a Best Western Motel. We arrive and check into our rooms and there is no running water. Not a word was mentioned at check in. Calling the front desk we find out they had a pipe break and we're working to get it fixed. The water did not come on until the next morning. We weren't even offered bottle water to brush our teeth. In the morning the water is back on so I go to shower wow! The water is tepid at best so a very quick shower. It wasn't until the next day that we finally got hot water. Also they had construction going on in the motel and it's winter and people and construction workers are tracking in and out of the building. We stayed four days and in those four days the hall carpets were not vacuumed the tile floors were not mopped. To say the least the stay was a disaster and also the indoor pool and sauna were closed. This place is a very big blemish on the Best Western Brand. The front desk said the best they could do was give us a 10% discount. I have contacted corporate but have yet to hear back from them or the Elko motel ownership. We were there for the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering and the rooms were NOT cheap. My four day bill was over $700.00. read more

The worst experience ever. I definitely NOT recommend this property. Both their system and staff are lousy, untrustful. They suddenly canceled my reservation just before we arrived at the property with my 3 young kids. I reserved a room and paid the room charge at 5/30, but they just canceled it at the date of reservation(7/17). They repeatedly said they didn't have any responsibility and I have to ask Booking.com to get a refund, because I reserved the room through a 3rd party. But, they had plenty of time to handle the overlooking situation and could/should have informed me in advance. I've never experienced this awful and ugly situation. In addition, Staff's attitude and response was worse. They didn't offer any solution. One employee who canceled my reservation lost her temper and yelled at me. Moreover they literally just kicked me out without any effort to get another room, so I had to search, pay and stay for another unwanted, dirty hotel. read more

We booked here based on numerous positive reviews but very much regretting it. Very dated and in need of cleaning (windows are hard to see out of because they are so dirty). Upholstered furniture in the common areas is visibly stained and everything in the rooms is dinged up. Room is very spacious and bed appears to be clean and comfortable. Seems like almost everyone here is traveling with large dogs, so that is probably a plus for some (although more of a deterrent for us). read more

Covid stay. I stayed here for a night with my two little kids. The first thing I noticed was that a bunch of staff members were sitting outside smoking cigarettes, of course, without masks. I have noticed that mask-wearing in all of Nevada isn't as wide spread though. The inside of the hotel is fine. Oddly they had a Christmas tree up in August. Someone was clearly very bored. The room was very large but dated. Carpet was old but otherwise everything was fine. If I had been there for more than one night I might have not been that excited. But as quick stop, it was fine. So I was hired Monday started Wednesday filled out a I9&w4 worked till Sunday and was informed I'd receive my new schedule the following week. Wednesday came and went and no call so I went in to find out what my schedule was to be informed that I was terminated on Friday. I don't appreciate the fact that the (Elko best western) felt the need to be deceitful and required slave labor but I can say the GM (Logan) whatever his last name is choose to be so unprofessional I'm also unclear of how he conducts himself in his personal life but feel a deep pity for his (loved ones) and literally regret applying for the company as I have sure way of knowing that with the unprofessional conduct that he doesn't retain my personal information.
