When I purchased a home recently the yard was so overgrown with plants that I did not like or want. To me, landscaping is a luxury, not a necessity. I decided to treat myself to a front yard makeover. I called Jerry Pottinger. Within 3 hours, he was at my house discussing my vision. Now, I may have changed my mind if I hadn't heard back from him so soon. You know, I got an urge to do something in my yard but if a couple days would have gone by without a response, I may have just chalked it up to a whim and decided to forego the whole idea. NUMBER #1: EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE IN A TIMELY FASHION! Critical component of a dependable business! We walked my property up and down, side to side, as he pointed out possible options for trees and plants and undergrowth and the importance of color balance. Laid back and personable, I liked this guy. He talked of his horticultural background which included working with his grandfather and father and an impressive connection to Thomas Edison. Earlier this summer, I called Jerry Pottinger from Lee County Landscaping to come talk with me about the trees I wanted to add to my yard. He responded quickly, was very helpful in suggesting trees that would meet my goals. He then brought the trees and bushes and installed them, giving me clear instructions on how to care for them. Fast forward to Hurricane Irma. All three of the palms had no damage! The mango tree still had it's roots in the ground, but was bent at a 90 degree angle. The avocado tree was leaning at about a 60 degree angle . . . with the one avocado it came with still on it! Because I had evacuated and saw all this on pictures sent by a dear neighbor, I emailed Jerry what was happening and that we would need to deal with it. By the time I arrived back, he has already come and staked both trees upright! I had expected him to take care of them in a couple weeks when things settled back down after the storm.
