Four office visits and I am yet to experience less than a 2 hour wait time - and that is with calling ahead for delay updates (without those expect upwards of 4 hours delay, not kidding). I understand it is challenging for staff when Dr. Capen commonly goes overtime with patients but less severe attitudes from check-in personnel and more accommodations for patients who are physically unable to withstand extreme wait times should be explored. During my relatives last appointment, after calling ahead and still being told of additional wait time, he was told he would be seeing the NP ( who was overheard complaining about his transfer to her schedule) not Dr. Capen. I had to call the office and threaten reviews to have him placed back on Capen's schedule. Call backs are equally challenging often exceeding 24 hours. My relative nurse and I have both been leaving messages for biopsy /oncology contact information. 3 weeks later, still no return call. It typically takes at least 24 hours for a return call but baffled at delay surpassing weeks. A biopsy had been scheduled then we were told last minute it could not be done. Weeks later I heard from a new surgical center that they could get the sample using a different method. My relative was frustrated and tired and stated he did not want a biopsy and went on hospice. He would now like more information on the latest biopsy approach. I anticipated this would be challenging for Capen's office staff but several weeks is plenty of time to simply return a call to either me or his nurse regarding his options. Dr. Capen is a great doctor but patient centered care must be viewed as a team effort among his staff or it all falls apart leaving frustrating and time sensitive gaps in care.

He always finds a way to squeeze me in if I am sick or on a tight schedule. When I was on vacation in Florida and came down with strep throat, he called in a Rx for me. Sometimes you do have to wait 10 -15 mins. to be seen if your appointment is later in the day.

I'm not happy that she had to sell her practice, but it is almost impossible for a doctor to be independent now days, and completely understand the reasoning behind it. My first appointment with Dr. Steenbergen was a positive experience. I arrived, signed in and…read morewaited no more than about 5 minutes to the actual appointment time. The waiting room is huge, but I think it belies the short waiting time. There have never been more than half a dozen people in the waiting room, some waiting for lab results after a consultation. The staff is pleasant and professional with a couple of exceptions. Dr. Steenbergen was welcoming, polite, professional and thorough. He listened to me and provided his assessment of some treatment options I suggested. Although our discussion was interrupted a couple of times, I felt I had his full time and attention for the duration of the appointment. The physician assistant, Joel Westbury, is also excellent. In fact, I might prefer to see him in the future rather than Dr. Steenbergen. And particularly when there is an urgency for an appointment, I was able to see Westbury much sooner than Steenbergen. Also, there is a phlebotomist on staff which negates the need to go downstairs to the in house lab. The practice appears to be fully computerized. Prescriptions are electronically transmitted to the pharmacy of my choice. After each visit I receive a printed summary of the visit by mail for my records, including any procedures, vitals, and prescriptions.

My husband located this urgent care center that was actually open until 9pm and was near 86th and Michigan Rd. We ran over. It is a small place on the north side of 86th St. Very clean and accommodating. Dr. Khan was patient and very thorough. He told us exactly what we had (strep) and why we had it. He explained what medication he was prescribing and why. He told us where to go to fill the prescription and said that if we were going to go directly to the pharmacy he would wait (past his 9pm closing time) to make sure that the pharmacy didn't need to call him because of the narcotics prescription (Tylenol with codeine). He said they would bill our insurance and on our way we went. He was maybe the best urgent care doc either of us has ever seen. Dr. Khan told us that he used to work at the urgent care in Nora but he left and opened up this place on his own. Looks like he has a second location on W. 10th St. as well. We would highly recommend this clinic.

The office was closed on a Sunday night, but they actually took us in to see our daughter who was suffering from body aches, ear aches, coughing etc. The staff was very good, very nice. Physician was excellent. Very thorough and detailed at explaining everything that was going on. You could tell he is not a "cookie cutter" or "cookbook doctor" where I feel they don't think analytically but look up a typical cookbook recipe to fix the problems. You can tell the Doctor has extensive experience and his approach is individualized. My daughter who really liked the doctor and was very happy being there. Rare for a child to like doctors office. I am so grateful that they would help us even though they were closed, lights off. Grateful for Physician for his prescribed plan of treatment. Thinking about switching my personal physician to him.
