TLDR: Simple farm for a reasonable price I came at the end of summer to pick some peaches. We paid $3 to get on the farm, which gave us access to all the crops, view of the turkey chicks, and a small playground. We had an easy time following the signs to the back corner of the farm where the peaches were. Even at the end of the season there were still plenty of peaches to pick. There was an ice cream vendor at the front of the farm that sold some interesting flavors of ice cream too. I've bought turkeys for Thanksgiving here for the last three years. Their turkeys are humanely raised on-site from one-day old chicks without hormones, antibiotics, or other additives. Every year on Thanksgiving, I have to cook for 20 or more people, and, absurdly, many of them don't even like dark meat, so I'm not going to hassle with cooking and carving whole turkeys. I buy frozen de-boned turkey breasts here, and cook them sous-vide. I vacuum seal them in ziplock bags with a handful of herbs and submerge them in a circulating hot water bath kept at 148.5°F for one hour per pound with my Anova Precision cooker. The turkey is consistently perfectly cooked, incredibly moist, juicy, and flavorful. There is no easier way to make it. There's no waste, and zero mess to clean up, just throw away the plastic bag and dump out the bucket of water. Everyone loves the turkey I make this way. I also bought Fuji apples here the same day for only 99¢ a pound that made a great apple pie, although I need to work on my pie crust-making skills. Anyone with disabilities should steer clear of this place. I have a registered service dog that alerts others and paws and licks my face if I pass out. Due to my sugar levels and other medical conditions, I have to travel with a service dog. I arrived at the apple picking farm and was denied entry. I enjoyed myself here at their farm. Plenty of selections and free parking. As for entrance, it will cost $2 for their admission card (non-refundable) and with that card you can add 5 more people to it to the car. The only catch is that each person on that card, including yourself will have to pay $5 (per person) but that $5 can be redeem toward veggies that are picked. As for the farm, they had plenty to choose from. From peaches, to eggplants, to zucchini, etc. The farm is also very spacious and easy to walk around and beautiful to look at. The only draw back is you can't bring in backpacks even if you tell them they can look in your backpack when you exit and their bathroom is a porta potty. As for staff, they were friendly. Overall I had fun and I like how this place run their business. Very relaxing atmosphere and the cost of the veggie per pound was very reasonable considering that it's literally farm to home kitchen table. read more

But the female owner is so offputting, rude, and nasty that I will never go there again despite the convenient location to me. In the hour I was there, heard her be absolutely offensively rude to 3 different people (myself included). There are much nicer places close by (Oasis, Kyle, etc) with people that are friendly and kind. One thing I must mention: they honestly have the best string bean I've ever had. We come here 2-3 times a year for strawberry, apple and pumpkin picking, and last year we got some string beans, and it's just the crunchiest, freshest and sweetest string beans I've ever tasted. We have been visiting Lee's Turkey Farm for more than 25 years. Today my wife spoke to Mr. Lee on the phone to ask if they had strawberries in the market. He said they did. I drove a good distance to get then and was told they did not have fresh strawberries in the market. His cashier called and he told her he never said that. I know he is wrong because I overheard the conversation and Mr. Lee's reply. I do not know why Mr. Lee did not recall the conversation correctly, but he lost a longtime customer today amd we will never recommend his farm again. read more

This is me and my family's yearly trip to fruit picking. We love this farm for their diverse fruit and vegetable collections. They also have turkey for sale. The price is a little pricey but it's a great experience. Current price is $2 for a season card (you need to pay this every season), and $5 deposit per a person to go in to pick which would be credit back upon purchasing goods. I had a fun time here with my friends! We were apple to get some veggies and apples. They have a variety of apples that are in season currently. We paid $5 deposit each and $2 lee turkey club card fee for our entire group. I also got a key lime pie. Some of their pies are frozen and have to be thawed, I was expecting actual home-made pies for $15.95. There was plenty of parking in their lot. There's a playground for the kids, and two portapotties if you need the restroom. There's also some live turkeys in the back if you want to purchase some (the smell was overwhelming so I didn't stay for long there) Overall, I had a good time. When u was checking out, I was helped by an older White woman and a black lady. They were both very helpful! Not sure how there are any negative reviews for this farm. We've been here on numerous occasions and never once had an issue. Signs are posted on where and what you can pick and the prices. Prices are fair for a u-pick farm. When you purchase the picking membership (I think it was $5 for the family for the year) it includes discounts for each month. You also need to leave a deposit to pick but it gets applied to your purchase. They are very clear when you pay not to lose your receipt. This place is extremely kid friendly. The trees are low enough that they can pick cherries and apples easily. There is also a nice little playground to let the kids burn off some energy. Turkeys are ridiculously good. Sign up for their emails so you don't miss the preorder. I also love that you can pick just about everything here from peppers and snap peas to cherries and pumpkins. Apples, Peaches, Green Beans, Hot peppers, Broccoli, Tomatoes, and Sweet corn are among the fruits and vegetables offered at Lee Turkey Farm. And the sweet corn sure is sweet! They have a nice pumpkin patch in the fall. The pumpkins are sold by the pound, so our purchase of two pumpkins last year did add up. Lee Turkey Farm seems to have a lot of rules though. They have every family fill out a liability waiver form for $2. This must be completed every year. They also charge each adult picking fruits and vegetables a $5 deposit, which would go towards your purchase if you buy something or serve as credit if you don't. I've picked fruits and veges at other local farms and have not encountered these types of rules. They also have a little market with pre-picked fruits and vegetables, jams, salad dressings etc. I inquired about the dressing; it is basically private labeled, so is not specific to the farm and 1 bottle is priced at about $7. read more

I would skip this farm as there are others that are more friendly and not as expensive. They have a variety of fruits and veggies. No amenities/food other than a little stand that sells ice. Porta potty for customer only. Fruits are expensive; peaches were like $1 more per lbs than elsewhere and not organic. The price for veggies are a little more reasonable. Weeds are 99cent/lb $5 entry fee per adult which can be apply as credit toward your purchase. Another $2 additional fee per entry /liability waiver card for up to 5 adult. Most of the reviews on yelp and on their google page that state the workers here are racists and nasty are 10000% correct. We used to love driving from Brooklyn about two hours to come here a couple of times each summer until about two summers ago. My parents were spoken to like complete trash and accused of stealing a fu*king zucchini. These morons even searched their car for the zucchini that they never found. If you're paying tolls, wasting gas money and spending 70 dollars on fruit do you honestly think we are out here stealing a single zucchini? What a joke. While we enjoyed the farm itself, we didn't appreciate being treated like criminals so we haven't gone back. There are way too many options in the area to allow this level of disrespect. This place needs to hire people with better customer service skills and less attitudes In response to the owner: Actually they didn't get stopped because they were on the way to their car. They were told at the register that the girl saw a zucchini in my mother's hand and it disappeared. Does that make sense to you? My mother told her that they didn't pick any zucchini's but they insisted that they check the car- which they did and found nothing. I needed some fresh turkey for a post Thanksgiving dinner and called Lee Turkey Farm to see what they had. The owner was friendly, easy to work with and basically said come on over to see what they had. Lee Turkey had deboned turkey breast meat which was perfect along with some condensed turkey soup base to make gravy with which was really awesome. The turkey meat tasted great and the soup base was easy to use. I'd definitely come back for fresh turkey meat in the future! read more

Damn, I feel that second review, while funny, is pretty harsh. If the owner is very racist, please provide some detail so the rest of us know to stay away. If not, let's keep it moving and bring on the vegetables! You can do so many kinds of vegetable/fruit picking at this farm! The last time I was there they had apples, peppers, tomatoes, green beans, cabbage (who wants to pick cabbage? apparently a lot of people), gourds, corn, and pumpkin picking. They also had brussels sprouts, which were not yet ready for picking, but who ever sees that? Not me! Love those sprouts. The farm is kind of spread out with the pumpkins in one section, corn maze in another, corn picking in another, apple orchard, etc. The apple orchard is not the biggest I've seen (see Riamede Farm in Chester for pretty excellent apple picking), but with the variety of other produce this is pretty fun. I can't imagine little children wanting to walk the entire farm though, so I'm sure families limit themselves to particular sections. If not, you got a lot of walking to do. My boyfriend and I didn't even make it over to the pumpkins. I don't remember the price per pound, but it was not cheap.. not that any pick-your-own farm is anyway. You also have to buy a 'picking pass' that costs two bucks. They also have a small farmer's market type thing, but the selection is pretty small. I bet their turkeys are insanely good. Had a really nice time here. Went early November so some crops were out of season, but there was still plenty to be picked! Tomatoes were on their last leg but we were able to find some good ones, and they were delicious. Brussel sprouts, eggplant, zucchini, lettuce, apples, corn, and peppers were plentiful. The corn was sooo sweet and delicious. The prices are about right. You pay $5 per person for entry but then get to use that money towards produce at the end. Most crops are around $2.50/lb. corn was 0.60 per ear, brussel sprouts $3 per stalk, and pumpkins $1 for small and $3 for large. They ask you not to eat until you buy, but I sampled some crops! So really in the end the slightly higher price per pound evens out. Wish they served donuts and hot cider, or maybe I came too late in the season. Would come again! read more

A lady who was working there said we can try the cherry they were selling and when I took two berries instead of one, one for me and another one for my husband who was standing next to me, she started yelling that she allowed to take only one!!! If you don't have enough cherries just don't tell me that I can try it. I would've paid for these two berries, if you told me that that was an option and to tell the truth I would prefer to do it instead of trying it for free. TL;DR: If you are white, you will more likely have a great experience at Lee Turkey + leave good reviews on Yelp, and if you are not white, you will more likely have a racial profiling experience and will leave negative reviews. Otherwise, it's a beautiful farm, great produce at very good prices, fun to pick. Now the full essay: The produce at Lee Turkey Farm is delicious! And the prices are reasonable and the farm is beautiful. It's super impressive that this farm is over 200 years old! Keeping a family owned business up and running and profitable through market fluctuations and changing society is pretty amazing. That said, I think there are few things the family could do to adapt to their changing community and also improve profit while doing it. I will outline them here in hopes that the family reads this comment and considers these changes. One major change I recommend is eliminating racial profiling when trying to enforce rules. As an example, I am Asian American and was racially profiled during my solo visit - one staff member asked me to "open my fanny pack" to check that I was not sneaking in any plastic bags. The staff member did not check the purse of the white woman behind me in line. If you look at all the Yelp reviews, you'll notice generally that positive reviews of customer service are from white people (see photo or last name), while negative reviews of customer service are from non-white people. As another example, when I went with my fiance, who is white, I was treated much better. And having been to the farm three times, I've witnessed other instances that resembled racial profiling. A more effective strategy to enforce rules (instead of racial profiling) is through effective and positive communication. This includes: (1) Provide large, legible signage in different languages. Include information about card, deposit, bucket policy, pay before eating policy, prices for each produce, etc. (2) Use positive and action-oriented wording in signage. Ie. "pay before eating" instead of "no eating allowed." The former is positive and suggests an action; the latter is negative and suppresses an action. Potentially, work with an editor or graphic designer to work on the signage to make it easy to digest all the information. (3) Since customers come from diverse backgrounds, hire staff who are multi-lingual and can speak some of these different languages. Or offer volunteering opportunities for multi-lingual staff. From what I've seen in three visits, many of the issues just seem to be lost in translation issues. (4) Include non-white people in your Instagram photos. Embrace inclusiveness as part of your branding. A hundred years later, what you do today will be part of the Lee Turkey story on your website. Do you want it to say "in the 2000s, we became suspicious of our customers and lived in suspicion forever afterwards" or do you want it to say "in the 2000s, we welcomed new and diverse customers and our business grew by leaps and bounds." (5) Focus on the positive experience you want to create. It's normal for orchards to charge deposits, so you don't have to explain that the reason for the deposit is to "protect" yourselves from "certain types of people from eating without paying" (this is quoted from your website). When you assign mistakes into the category of "that type of person," you create a barrier to understanding and empathy. Also, if someone does break the rules, kindly tell them "we don't do that here. Please pay, or leave the premises", and forgive them and realize that they can change. We are all trying to do our best, and just as your business is adjusting to the changing environment, your customers are also adjusting to the changing environment. I would also recommend hiring an outside management consultant to conduct a market analysis to improve profit over all. I sense that the staff is stressed from needing to enforce rules because they think it maintains profit. In reality, there could be an alternative solution to maintaining profit that's much easier. Thus, if the main issue of how to create profit is addressed, perhaps there will be less stress from being suspicious of everyone from certain racial backgrounds. Overall, I really like this farm and would like to see it succeed for many more centuries to come. This place is a waste of time not only was the customer service was bad but the manager of the location was completely rude . According to the website they're supposed to be open until 6 o'clock and I got there about 5 o'clock and the manager stated that we close at 450pm. Why would a place advertise online the hours to be closed at 6 o'clock and everybody clocking out at 450 pm .The manager was completely rude and not helpful. She did not even let me purchase after I told her I drive four hours to get to the location. I wasted four hours of my life driving to location just to be disrespected not by the employees but the wife of the owner. I would not advise anyone to go here if you're looking to get great customer service this place is a joke and should be shut down.
