Honestly - this year's curbside pickup setup is SLICK! I placed my order online, products all in stock. Received confirmation email and not far after the pickup order confirmation. Pull in and there's a one-way line at the side of the store and a sign "pull up here, we will see you stay in your car" There were a few of us there, I figured I'd follow the instructions, get in line, call the store... I didn't have a chance to pull out my phone, even as the 3rd car in line, there was someone at my window in seconds! Wearing masks, the gentleman asked my name and reminded me he needed to see some photo ID/Driver's licence when he came back with my order. Wow - these staff must have genes of The Flash because they ALL were in and out in record time! My order came back, showed my licence, and they dropped it on the front seat of the car. They do have a lot of hard to find garden items. And a small retail outlet far on the west side of Edmonton. My pet peeve is there is no place to review items. I bought a crappy garden watering rod and was unable to review it. So they lose 2 stars for that. You are buying blind. I wish they would allow for user reviews to help customers out. Amazon is better in that regard. read more

I was first introduced to Lee Valley when a coworked I worked with retired and picked up a part-time job to keep busy in his retirement years at Lee Valley Tools. He had raved about them for years, but I figured - what could be so special. So I went on down to visit him and a take a look at the store and OH MY HEAVENS! It is the coolest little random doo dad gardening and woodworking store ever! They even have amazing knobs and handles for doors/drawers! My favorite thing from this store is their 100% orange oil cleaner called CITRUS SOLVE... it's super reasonably priced and we use it safely for all kinds of cleaning in our house! To remove cat odors from our hard surfaces, to disinfect litter boxes, to remove sticky things instead of toxic goo be gone... so many great uses and it smells awesome! I can never leave without buying a few little extra things... They just have the best selection of useful doodads and gifts you will ever find! If you haven't been... You are missing out! And if for no other reason, go buy a bottle of CITRUS SOLVE - it's cheap and totally safe for kids and pets! read more

This is a very cool store with very high quality and hard to find items for the home handyman, hobbyist, and gardener. The prices are very good too. You can find cheaper prices for similar products elsewhere but they are most likely not the same quality. They also have really unique products that you would never have seen unless you were specifically looking for them. Like some nordic lawn game I saw this week that is a cross between bowling and a carnival game...Mölkky! The also have small random gadgets for the kitchen, yard, garden, or almost anywhere. It is fun to look around and find new things. The store is set-up like an old catalog ordering store. You take a piece of paper and write down the item #'s you want to purchase. Some may be on the floor, some you find on their computer system or catalog. You then take a number slip and wait in line. The clerks then fetch your parts from the back warehouse and bring them to the counter. The staff have always been very helpful, knowledgeable and cheerful. This is a store you really need to experience first hand. It is so unique that it is hard to do it justice in a few paragraphs. read more

Ottawa location... Was wearing a 'mask' face covering, straps don't work with my ears so I wear a n95 underneath a gaitor that covers my face and neck, was told I have to wear one of the provided masks.... sorry this isn't about public heatlh if I have to wear someone else's mask... I order online for delivery with a minimum purchase and everything arrives as described in good time. I love the kitchen and garden items. Last winter, I ordered the small indoor garden light kit, the price seemed a bit high but it is everything you need to get started, sturdy and works great (saved a ton by starting my own herbs and bedding plants and bringing the plants inside in fall). This year, I plan to order the large kit to grow lettuce and my herb plants are getting pretty big so I need a low kit and a high one (they're height adjustable). I haven't used the self-watering feature but I will with the lettuce. I've found plenty of kitchen gadgets and kids items, too. The garlic mincer is quick and easy to use even for a senior with little strength and flexibility in my hands. read more

I have been a Lee Valley customer for as long as I can remember. My dad has been shopping here since before the physical store actually existed, and the staff are always surprised at what a low customer number he has! Needless to say, we keep coming back for a variety of reasons. If you need specialty tools or hardware, this is the place to be. I build scale dolls' houses, and there are many times when they only place I could find what I was looking for was Lee Valley. Mitre box? Check. Tiny hinges and brads? Check. Small veneer sheets for making your own miniature hardwood flooring? Check. Honestly, odds are that if what you need in the tool department is odd, they have it. My dad gets all the supplies for turning and assembling pens here, and he has made some beauties. I believe this is also where he gets all his Festool tools and parts. The service is always great, and I love how they have extra staff on hand during the Christmas season. Oh, and Lee Valley at Christmas! Let me tell you... They have the most interesting array of gifts, from kitchen and gardening gadgets to vintage inspired toys. There is always something I was whenever I go it, and I'm quite looking forward to getting my son a set of the huge foam blocks that they sell when he gets a bit older. Product selection is great, but the way of requesting an item and having it fetched from the warehouse is awkward and very 1990's pseudo-mail-order-retail. I would recommend downloading the catalogue to your iPad/iPhone ahead of time, looking for what you want, then going with the order in hand (or perhaps already placed online). You're not going to "see and touch" the product much before you buy, so this definitely isn't the place to go browse. They've got a wide selection of products -- some being the kitschy gadgets, some being high-end woodworking tools. read more

If you are into woodworking, DIY, or want to find a new hobby your wallet will hate you. It is hard not to feel like a kid in a candy store, and you always walk away with more than you planned. The staff are great people who know their stuff, so don't feel intimidated they are happy to help. Really cool store for hardcore gardeners and woodworkers with tools, supplies, and even some toys - high end, fun things. Many of the items I saw here I have never seen before in other hardware stores. I enjoyed the books and instructional materials. It took me a short while to figure out the customer service system of writing down the items you want, then getting a number and being served. Really worth a visit if you are a tool or gardening nerd. read more

Gourmet gardening tool and woodworking tool store. I don't do woodworking so i can't speak to that but the gardening tools are higher quality and quite expensive compared to other places. It's fun to look around though as they have some quirky novelty items as well. read more

This is one of my all time favourite stores. My dad always brought me here a s a kid and I have loved tools ever since. Such a great variety of artisanal supplies, you can always find something you can't find elsewhere. I actually order a lot of my stocking stuffers from their Xmas catalogue because they offer such functional, useful and unique things. Like LED zipper lights for walking at night, perogi stuffing utensils, and other tidbits. The quality is high and although some things can be quite costly, I can usually stay on budget. My favourite thing is the option to place a telephone order then just do an express pick up at the side door and skip the lines. Best way to shop! read more

I ordered a router table attachment online for pick-up and was surprised to find that they had it in stock, since the web tool said there was none in stock. I noted that the boxes had "Opened for Inspection" stickers but was assured that the kit was complete. Upon opening at home, I noted that about 30% of the hardware was missing, the manual was missing , and re-packaging was poorly done. Either this fell of the truck and was carlessly repackaged, or was returned incomplete. Imagine my surprise when I returned it, expecting to have to wait for a back order, and they rolled out a semi-complete unopened kit. Why am I paying full price for something that was previously picked through? I would buy an over priced fancy garden spade or a brass cabinet hinge from this store in the future, but only if they brought out their entire stock for me to choose from. I would not spend more than $50 for an individual item, since they are obviously playing games in the back. read more

Such a unique store in so many ways! They have an incredible amount of nifty things for your home, but they specialize in woodworking and gardening. I do neither but still find this place to be fun to go to! I found out about them a good 5 years ago, someone had suggested this place to find the hardware for our kitchen cabinets. They have an amazing selection of really neat things that you just wouldn't find at Home Depot/Rona/Totem. Today I came in to pick up another set of measuring cups for the kitchen. They are industrial strength! I wanted a second set since I've been meausuring so much of our food as part of a 'new year's resolution'. They have quite a few things for the kitchen, and I always wish I had room for more gadgets! Saw a cherry pitter today that I wanted, but really, here...how much use would I get out if it?! Anyways, the thing I love about the store is that there's a lot of stuff out on display that you can touch and examine, but it's all stocked in the back. You grab a mini-clip board and write down the items you want to purchase. There's staff wandering around the floor to help you should you need it. When you're ready, you PULL A NUMBER at the counter and someone will go back into the stock room to help you. If you have questions or want to examine the product further the staff member can help you out. Once you're ready to complete the purchase, the employee will take your purchase over to one of the tills. I just love the way it's set up. They also have all of their catalogues set up in the middle, along with computers to do online orders. If you subscribe to their catalogues, you'll get a couple each year full of really unique things. We find the odd Christmas stocking stuffer here. read more

Great asset to serious hobbyist or skilled bespoke woodworker/cabinetmaker. They have some very useful stuff and most of the inventory is obviously chosen by someone who although possibly a little neurotic, must certainly be a problem solver with an eye for quality. Their catalogues alone are worth the visit, as they've not only got all the gear very well illustrated but, the detail of description regarding function and how to, is wicked....absolute must for bathroom reading! I expect many of their tools and almost certainly their catalogues will become quite collectable in the decades to come. As well as tools, both gardening and woodworking, they carry an amazing book collection, specific to wood crafts, engineering, farm and homestead, etc. Many of these publications are circa 19th century reprints, before Chinese factories began to supply almost everything and make everyone's life 'generic'! A lost time when human hands created the bespoke quality that infused the world of manufacturing. I'm a finishing carp and cabinet guy and have found the Lee Valley kitchen hardware of excellent quality and very well thought out in terms of installation. The extra that's spent on the gear is compensated for by speed of installation and the likelihood of a long trouble free working life. Finally, definitely worth a stop when Christmas shopping as there's loads of cool ,small, reasonably priced obscurities, which will make almost anyone happy..... super powerful rare earth magnets, small blocks of beautiful exotic tropical woods, pocket field microscopes for budding entomologists, an array of cheap but well made binoculars, sundials ___it is a lovely place to lose an hour or two___ a museum where everything is for sale! read more

I have been a Lee Valley customer for years and have shopped in 5 of thier stores as well as at least a small fortune by catalogue and on line shopping. I have never been disappointed. The tools and other products they sell are always excellent quality. The customer service is almost beyond belief. They are friendly and knowledgeable. Many of them are true craft persons in thier own right. I have taken a few of thier seminars and learned a great deal in all of them. If you haven't found this little piece of retail heaven, find one, you will be pleasantly surprised. Go ahead, you'll love it. read more
