It's not the most impressive place to look at from the outside but the hall offers some good events. It's a main central focal point of the area and is probably one of the main places to check out if you want to try something a bit different. First up, you'll find fairs galore. The Giant Military and Collectables fair is a regular activity and attracts quite a number of stalls and people alike. Throughout the year there are also toy fairs and craft shows. One of my favourite events is the Leeds CAMRA beer, cider and perry festival. You may've guessed booze would be involved somewhere down the line and yes I don't like to disappoint. You'll be able to sup silly named ales, drink around the world and then fall out of the door into a taxi. It's not big and it's not clever but it's lots of fun. So if you want to think somewhat out of the box (oh dear I've gone into management jargon now, flog me now), then this is a cracking option to look at.

There's a great suite of beautiful Macs upstairs to work on. The 'comfort' facilities are good too. Toilets are nice and clean and there's a small kitchen too. If you're organising some kind of conference, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out to see if it would suit your event.

It's an odd location in some senses - you get the impression that once it was built, and everything still looks really rather spanking new, that they assumed folks would flock there to shop and whatnot, but in my few experiences here it's often been really quite quiet. Perhaps it's the nightmare of navigating the Leeds one way system via car, or the slightly out of the way canal-side walk (which is rather pleasant) that puts people off. In any case, that's where she stands. I visited there today, my first ever visit, to attend the Thought Bubble convention -a wondrously magnificent collection of all this graphic, comic and hand penned, for the truly geeky (and some might say, enlightened). For myself, being part-geek, this was an awesome place to spend a few hours, perambulating the large space in search of something special. The trouble is, with such a convention as this, everything catches your eye... I rather needed the Yelp of the graphic novel world to help me navigate which stalls I should stop at, but there you go. I managed to unearth a few gems, needless to say. Other than this event, the Saviles seems to be the place for Christmas dos, Weddings and all manner of other large scale events -the hall itself being gargantuan. I'm sure in the ceiling there were lighting rigs too. Other than that, I've not much to report, except that the refreshment stall was out-of-this-world expensive -£1.70 odd for a bottle of pepsi. No ta. I'll wait. In any case, I'd keep an eye on their programme of events as despite the slightly ghost-town atmosphere nearby, it's not a bad place to be. Plus the canal side wander is pretty lovely -especially in the mist as was today.

The Comfort Inn is located on Bishopgate Street in the centre of Leeds and is popular with tourists…read more(not hen and stag do's, more Christmas shopping tourists or even festival goers), business travellers and parents (of students, around graduation time). It is classed as a budget chain hotel somewhere along the lines of the Premier Travel Inn and serves it's purpose very well. The prices vary, you can pick up early bird bargains of B&B for as little as £19 a night but the average is £39 - £50. The rooms are maybe a little boxy but they are more than adequate, they are clean, with functional bathrooms, good showers and with complimentary shampoos and soaps. Towels are changed daily. Staff are very polite indeed, very friendly, moreso than some of the high end hotels I have been to in the city centre. The food is excellent, breakfast comprises of continental or full English, both are to a high standard and most enjoyable. The evening meals available in the restaurant are more than adequate - not haute cuisine but for the money they are a good place to eat if you aren't wanting to spend a bomb or if you are a business traveller with limited time (or you don't want to get lost in the city!). I would recommend the Comfort Inn as it certainly is comfortable, in a good location with parking, and close to all local amenities.

Various local events held here throughout the year as it has a good sized hall. A community police officer is also based here throughout the week. Needs to be used to stay open (as the council are often threatening to close it) so worth considering it as a venue for events or signing up to one of the classes held here!

Of course it is a hotel so you can rest your weary head there but it also has a fine eating emporium. Oh yes it does in pantomime style action. This is grand dining with fresh, seasonal and local produce all whipped into some luscious creations. Try the oak roasted salmon fishcakes to start with. They almost melt in the mouth. For a main I went for some mushroom fun (ghi). Sorry bad pun alert! The steaks are cooked to perfection though or you can stick to chicken, duck or whatever takes your fancy. Excellent puddings as to be expected and a totally extravagant dining experience all round. Don't expect it to come cheap, it doesn't but we all need a total blow out sometimes in our lives. BUT, Trev arranged suprise trip here in June. We only stayed one night, but what a night. Our room was one of the new ones, happily not new room, just newly decorated, had lots of old features, was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. We booked in and went out exploring for a while, came back and got a bottle of house wine, 2 glasses and a cooler to take up to the room while we got ready for dinner. Dinner was first class. The food was well prepared, well served and there was plently of it. I had the best king prawns I have ever had followed by duck which was cooked to perfection. Trev has sea bass ( I think) and that was delicious too. We don't really do desserts, but folk around us were smacking their lips at theirs, so they must be good too. The wine was a little on the expensive side and nowt flash, but not bad enought to really complain about. We will defo be back as soon as possible, for longer hopefully, and we have recommended it to all our mates, especially those who like a bit of Jazz with their dinner.... nice

They have rooms in the main building, upstairs from the bar/restaurant and they also have a separate annex building. We have stayed in both sets of accommodation and we were extremely pleased with the room on both occasions. The food is always well presented and the service is second to none. Highly recommended.
