The pictures on the website are deceiving. A lot of sites are tight. We couldn't use our fire pit. There isn't much of a beach. When we went into the office to find restaurants or pizza places to deliver, we never cook on arrival day, there were 3 teen girls working that had no clue what was around and looked at us as if we had 3 eyes lol. The permanent residents behind us paid no attention to quiet time and were obnoxiously loud and partying way late, playing corn hole and the whole campsite was lit up. We are not old or prudes and we love to drink and have a good time and can be loud but we do try to keep it under control after quiet time. Luckily our fan was loud enough to drown out the noise. I would have rather have the windows open when possible. We did find a couple of really nice beaches close by. Wifi wasn't great and no internet service if you need that. There were 5 camper/couples and we all agreed, sorry, this campground was not for us. read more

We recently had a reservation for 4 nights with our 31 ft long 5th wheel trailer. We were disappointed when we arrived to see that our site was electric only, when I thought I had reserved a full hook up site. That was my error. But we were also disappointed in a couple of other things that were not attributed to our error. The site was described as "lake front". We liked that because we have a couple of dogs, so we knew that our site would be more isolated (with our trailer bordering one side and the lake on the other). When we are in crowded sites with activity all around, they tend to bark a lot, which is rude to other campers. Our site was not "lake front" as indicated on the reservation, including in the photo. Between our site and the lake was a walking trail and another camper site. Second, the site was very small and narrow. We had a difficult time maneuvering our trailer just to the site due to the crowded sites and narrow road, and worried our trailer would not even fit into our reserved space. Third, I asked about wifi since the campground does advertise that they have wifi, and was told there was "no wifi in our site at the current time, and someone was supposed to be coming out to fix it". Since we arrived 2 hours early, we dropped our trailer in the overflow field and discussed the situation over lunch. We returned to the campground and advised the young ladies in the office that we would not be checking in after all (due to the above reasons). I expected we would lose the first night fee and maybe even the second night, which we understood. I asked them if they would consider refunding the last 2 nights of our stay and they declined. This site was electric only, tiny, NOT lakefront as described, no working wifi, and the campground was charging $101/night! I would have been glad to pay that for an adequately sized site ON the lakefront with at least electric and water. I asked the office to have their General Manager Lauren call me and they agreed. I asked for her phone number, and the office workers said "don't worry, she'll call you". We found another campground, then stopped back by the Leelaneau Pines the next day because I had not received a call from the General Manager Lauren. Again, she was not there, so I left my name and number and asked for a phone call. That was on July 29th, and today is August 5th, so I'm guessing I won't be getting that call. I would think the best way to handle a customer service issue would be to discuss it, maybe iron out a few things, offer a partial refund if warranted, or maybe even camper credit, to try to make thinks right? This being said, buyer beware, and choose your site extra carefully. Just because Leelaneau Pines thinks your trailer will fit into the site, doesn't mean it will, and that you won't be sitting on top of your neighbor. And certainly don't count on sitting in your chair and staring directly out at the lake from your $101/night lakefront site, because there might be another camper in your way. Lastly, if you have a problem, don't count on a phone from the office. read more

We stayed here a week for 4th of July, 2018. I forgot to review at that time. I was a little skeptical because of some of the negative reviews but it was kind of a last minute thing. The Good - Quiet at night, great for families with kids, lake was beautiful for beach or just to sit and look at, cute stream running through, clean facilities, game room, has a 70s/80s type feel -- modern but not so much so that you lose the experience of camping. Conveniently located to all points in TC. beautiful and quiet area. playgrounds for kids, boat launch. The Not so Good- Definitely more of an RV/camper type of campground. We camped in tents but most everyone had some sort of campers. The spaces were kind of tight and we had no privacy at ours, but it was last minute. The lake sites looked more private. It was almost "too" quiet at night, I enjoy quiet but I guess everyone in their campers I felt a bit out of place making a little bit of noise at night. Overall, if you don't mind being somewhat close to your neighbors a great place to take a family for a true camping experience. You can enjoy all this area has to offer from TC up to Northport and the dunes. The place as I said was quiet and great for kids to explore as it has a safe vibe and you are only allowed to drive 5mph through the campground. I enjoyed it here. read more

So far we've had a nice, relaxing time at this campground. Our space is next to a small creek that runs into the lake, complete with a family of ducklings. The facilities are clean and most of the spots have a water and power hook up for RVs. The attendants are very helpful and seem to do well to get you what you need. The firewood is reasonably priced for the amount also. The majority of campers here seem to be long term as well, so the site is pretty quiet. They have a playground and a path all around the campground, they also allow you to pull your boat right up to the shore.. Occassionally you'll get a foul, urine smell off of the lake or another camper who has been out fishing may walk through your site if you're close to the lake path, but otherwise it's been a good experience. read more

I am being generous by rating them 1. And here is why: untrimmed trees, tight spaces, deceiving site map (The map showed that I had a river and a play ground behind my site. No such things. No wifi. Well they do have some but you have to go to the office to use it. Also they have TV on some sites but not others. Just weird that for the price they're charging they wouldn't have these amenities. I also keep looking at this place in thinking if I owned it I would clean it up a little more and take better care of the amenities. Seems like lots of people live here for the whole summer We ended up getting stuck on a site that was all dirt and that was a drag. Our sewage dump got overfilled on second to last day so everyone in our area had spillage out onto the ground under their campers- STINKY! They got right on the issue but never apologized or did anything to compensate us for this stinky experience. I heard a bunch of long returning customers at adjoining sites saying that everything has gone down hill because the owners are sitting on the land and trying to sell for big bucks... then I realized that when I checked in the man at desk was on a real estate website and talking to the woman working with him (wife?) about land prices. Booked this over the phone, because well it's the 21st century and they still can't figure out to have a website with a calendar and booking over the internet. THEY screwed up the reservation, sent an email confirmation that went to spam. Seems pretty cut and dry that the customer is always right, right?? I get that they couldn't get me in the week we wanted, but then they kept my $75??? No way. Before booking I looked around various sites for reviews and I overlooked the negative/complaining reviews. I am sure GLAD that I did! We stayed May 30-June 4 2017. Here's some of my responses to what others had to stay: 1. This campground is for old folks and families - My answer to that is that I can understand that feeling/view but don't let it stop you from staying here. It may not be for people in their 20's, but we're in our 30's with young kids and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and these so called "old folks" were nice and helpful. 2. Bad wifi - Yes, the wifi stinks, but anymore with unlimited data plans being plentiful, wifi is not really an issue anymore. 3. The playground is excellent - Yes this is true! My kids (7 & 9) loved running over there to play. 4. Swimming is so so - Yes, there didn't appear to be a clear beach area, but there's an area you can get into with swim shoes. My kids didn't care about that nor the water temperature, so in they went. We were happy with what was there, but I would agree that if this campground would like to see increased non-resident visitors, working on the beach area would be appreciated. 5. The kids run around unsupervised - Well my kids are 7 & 9 and because this campground is so safe and there's nothing to worry about they road their bikes around this campground with no supervision. They could also safely cross the lane to go to the playground on their own. This is camping and that is what I did as a kid when camping. I find it perfectly acceptable unless the children are in harms way or are not behaving properly when on their own. 6. They come to see you set up - Yes, some "older" gentlemen arrived when we were backing our trailer into our spot. I found them EXTREMELY helpful and SUPER nice. When this campground is in peak season, I can see how the semi-small spaces would require some oversight on set-up. I can understand. But I did not find them to be bossy or over my shoulder about things. They were very helpful. I appreciate those nice gentlemen. 7. Sites are small with many long term residents - Yes this campground has a large population of long term seasonal residents, but there are areas that are set aside for weekend campers and they all appeared to be together. We did not have issues with being beside a resident on one side, and having another weekend visitor on the other. We didn't go during peak season, so we did not have to worry about small spaces and feeling cramped. 8. Fire pit issues - We didn't have issues with ours. But a lot of fire pits are in the ground offering no ability to move them. I can understand the complaints and can see where having a movable fire ring at each site would be appreciated. But there's probably a reason why the campground had to go this route. 9. Expensive - I found the price for full hookup no different than any other full hookup campground we have stayed at. I think the price is acceptable. In short I'd stay here again when back in the area. It was clean, beautiful, the people were nice, it was quiet, relaxing, and safe. read more

I would have to say its for older people. Small playground for the kids. They say there is a beach. To me a beach has sand this one doesn't at all. So its grass land that ends into the water. Sites are super small. My fire pit is under my awning. I cant move over anymore or I would hit a tree. The guys that work here are not friendly at all. If you aren't a seasonal camper you are pond scum! I wouldn't stay here again in my life!! I am not a negative person I have stayed at better places! read more

To start out I want to say this campground is for old folks and familys. They run a tight ship here and it keeps the riff raff out. The evening people can be a little rude so be prepared for that. I took one star off because of the shitty wifi and every year they have some excuse why it's shitty. Make sure you understand the rules before you stay and you shouldn't be disappointed. The lots are very small and come with a lot of rules and regulations. The playground is excellent, swimming is so so, could use some sand dumped in close to shore. They also offer excellent sports areas such as basketball, volleyball paddle ball etc. The bathrooms and showers are very clean, remember it's for old people. The kids kind of run around unsupervised, so not sure how to take that. They will bend a few rules if you ask nicely, but if you get a attitude, they can get rude. They actually will come to see you set up, and told us our tent was one foot over the lot line so we had to move it. The people next door set thier stuff up right next to ours because of the close quarters so that wasn't cool. So all in all if you fit the clientele that stay here, you will have a great stay. read more

Spaces are extremely tight, staff on the golf carts are rude and watch your every move, ridiculous number of rules. This is not camping. Very few trees, no trails. Not much of a swimming area and you absolutely must wear shoes. Kids liked the playground, but it would not have been enough to keep them busy for a week. If you like a very quiet campground with lots of seasonal people and don't want to be in the woods, this may be for you. For my family it was a bad experience, so much so that we forfeited our money (absolutely no refunds are given) and left early. It was not worth spending my limited vacation time at a place that I am uncomfortable. If you are looking for a laid back camping experience with woods and trails, I highly suggest you look elsewhere. read more

Hesitant to even give it one star. Extremely horrible customer service. Staff was unbelievably rude and spoke to neighbors about us. Very unprofessional. And when we told them we would not be back we were told we would be "doing them a favor". Sites were small and fire pit was a 1x1 concrete square. Unable to drop off garbage because we were told they didn't want to pay for another dumpster because the current one was full. Needless to say we won't be back. read more
