My mother and I had visited three other bridal boutiques before visiting Lefty's, and I canceled my remaining boutique appointments because I found two sample dresses that I love. I just could not choose one dress over the other. Their inventory appears to be carefully chosen for style and various price points. I had not seen the dresses that I purchased elsewhere. And, the prices for dresses and alterations are more than reasonable. Lefty's Bridal is a family business and it supports various charitable organizations, which I consider quite noble. My shopping experience was unfailingly pleasant and professional. I wish that I had started at Lefty's, but if I had I probably would not have appreciated the level of service and quality selection that I experienced. Lefty's Bridal has a positive reputation that precedes itself, which I learned after I mentioned to a few friends that I purchased my dresses there. Two of my friends were familiar with Lefty's when it was at a different location, and one of them had purchased a bridesmaid dress from Lefty's years ago. In sum, if you're looking for a pleasant shopping experience that won't break the bank (and for which you will not sacrifice quality), call Lefty's and make an appointment. I'm so glad I did. I initially went to Marys Bridal, after paying $2,699 for a dress that I never received. I went to Lefty's, Lefty had the same dress for $1500. Lefty was patient and worked with me, at that point I was 4 months out from my wedding she showed me dresses that could arrive in time and didn't pressure me. Completely different experience than at Marys Bridal. I highly recommend Lefty's, she was professional and didn't try to overcharge me. Can you give ZERO stars??? Let's pretend customer service wasn't actually ABYSMAL, and they don't make you feel as if you're inconveniencing THEM for patronizing their business. Let's pretend that if you have to use the facilities, you don't have to trek alllll the way to the movie theatre just to relieve yourself, which is completely annoying. And let's pretend that we didn't have to wait around for ten minutes, THEN actually hunt somebody down to have them pull the dresses so that we could actually try them on. Let's talk about objective things. - ONLY ONE person in your group can actually try on the dress, so you'll really have no clue what the dress actually looks like on you. - You are only allowed to try on THREE DRESSES in total... -They actually give you four books to choose from, although half of the options in the books are not available, so forget knowing what they look like on ANYone, let alone the one 'spokesperson' you've elected to try on the three dresses. If this sounds like a place you'd want to risk handling pivotal aspects of the most important day of your life, go for it! We decided it wasn't worth it, and although our time was wasted, we could at LEAST save our money. *this was the bridesmaid experience, but customer service should be the same all around, and the bride was displeased as well. read more

This is a family business run by Lefty herself and her husband, Tayron (not sure I'm spelling that right). From the very first phone call, I had a great feeling about Lefty's Bridal. I had called ahead to make an appointment and see if they had anything in my budget. Tayron cheerfully told me he could find me something beautiful for me, which is a far cry from the snootiness I'd gotten from other stores. I went with two girlfriends, and the three of us were given the run of the place to pull gowns. However, everything we picked wasn't quite right, but everything Tayron pulled looked great - he really knows his bridal fashions and what suits my body type (petite and a bit thick around the middle). My gown (an Essense of Australia) retailed for $1200, but was marked to $800 at Lefty's. Because it was a sample, Tayron and Lefty marked it down to $389 - sold! I returned a few months later for alterations, which wasn't as perfect as the dress-buying process. The gown was a little tight in the bust after alterations, and since I had bridesmaids (and not a professional like Lefty) putting me into my gown on the big day...well, let's just say things weren't smoothed out and I've got a bit of backfat going on in the photos. Oops! All in all, I would say it was an excellent experience. For a small shop, they have a great variety, they can work with your budget, and they're just such wonderful people that you want to hang out with them all day. read more

Well within my budget and Lefty is great. My mom actually picked out my dress and it was a good choice. While I'm not 100% sure it was a perfect fit for the type of event we had, I had a short engagement and the dress arrived on time. I lost a bit of weight between purchase and fitting, and while I tried to maintain between fitting and wedding, the dress was still a bit big and seemed like it hadn't been brought in around the top/bust enough. Also, the three bustles did not hold - first one, then the rest ripped off the dress, not only meaning paying for those bustles was a bit useless, but it ripped the fabric of various areas of the dress. Luckily, it was toward the end of the wedding and I didn't care that much at the time. I did NOT dance a ton or move around a lot- small day time wedding - but it still did not hold. In retrospect, I should have been more upset given the cost for the alterations. However, the dress was pretty and the price was right. I just wish it had held up better. My day-of coordinator told me that all dresses fall apart - even the expensive ones - which made me feel a little better. read more

I purchased a gown in October of 2020. I was told my gown would arrive in March, I didn't receive a call. After reaching out to the shop multiple times I finally received a call back early April saying the dress was ready for pickup so I scheduled alternation's for late April. Once the alteration appointment was completed they said they would call me and let me know when to pick up, mind you my wedding is June 19, 2021. As suspected they never called therefore I called on June 3 and was told to come June 10. Since I didn't receive a time and everything is done by appointment due to Covid, I called on the 9th to confirm she (Lefty owner) says come in today. I arrived and she drastically messed up my alterations. Originally she was just supposed to take up the bust and let out the hips instead she took in the sides or she didn't measure properly. Not only did she not admit to her mistake she then insinuates I gained weight and I had a week to "lose more". Instead of rectifying her mistake she offers me a veil for 30%. Pictures below me with the bush is when I went for alterations in April. The bun pictures is when I picked up my gown on June 9. Judging by my waist, back, and arms I believe it is clear I've lost weight. It is clear she touched the waist line of the dress. If you purchase your gown from here I'd advise you find a honest and knowledgeable seamstress. UPDATE: Picked up my dress Thursday my wedding was on that Saturday. Lefty puts it on me but didn't hook it I got home SAME DAY to find I didn't have a hook. Absolutely ridiculous service my dress didn't fit wedding day it was still to large in the breast which was the ONLY part of the dress that needed alterations. Overall terrible experience. She never apologized nor acknowledged the fact I left her shop after paying thousands of dollars I left dissatisfied. There was no compensation or anything just terrible service and an even worse attitude. Luckily pictures tell the truth! Look how big it is on my bust!! Lefty's has been around for a long time, as I remember when they were at Largo Town Center. I had gone in there while looking for a dress for my first wedding and found a champagne colored beauty. Though I did not purchase it, I remembered Lefty's during my second wedding dress search. I had been to several different salons by the time I went back to Lefty's. I knew from experience that you need to call ahead as they are not always there unless someone is definitely scheduled to come by. I called and left a message about wanting to come by to look at the clearance rack. Lefty's has $99 dresses that are fabulous and today I ended up purchasing TWO! One will be my reception dress and one I will wear for my engagement party. Lefty herself was there to assist me. She has a hands off approach that I love after dealing with the other salons where they come into the dressing room with you and pull the dress on and off you like you can't dress yourself. She just came back to zip me up and gave me lots of space to walk around and consider the dresses from all angles. She doesn't micromanage your appointment at all. Admittedly, I did not have an appointment; however the website says that walk-ins are accepted. I visited the shop with my mother and one of my bridesmaids. When we walked in we walked around the bridal dresses and while the prices appeared to be very good, the dresses didnt appear to be high quality. As I walked towards the back of the store, near the dressing rooms, I saw 2 saleswomen helping young women with prom dresses. Neither of the women said as much as hello to me, my mother or my bridesmaid. They looked up, glanced at us for a moment, them kept doing what they were doing. I walked in with my planner and told lefty what type of dress I was looking for ( vintage lace old Hollywood) out of all the dresses I showed her she pulled out 3 of her own design. When I went in the dressing room I was pissed but I tried them on. The first dress I fell in love with, the second one was beautiful but to heavy for me. The third also pretty but want my type. All this tool less then a 20 minutes in and out. I got a good price because all her dresses was on sale and I forgot all about the line of dresses I wanted. I felt that her design was made just for me a one of a kind :). When I came back for my mom and bridesmaids it was the same treatment. In and out. When I saw my dress I cried every time and I mean every time, I just kept falling back in love. Loved that everyone in the shop took then time to remember me and make me laugh every time I walked in. Not a good experience at all. Very poor customer service and not attentive. Let's start from the beginning of scheduling the appointment, I called a week in advance, I'm going to assume I spoke with the owner; she was polite and asked if I was the bride and I said yes and then she congratulated me. I told her my wedding was in August and I was not looking for a traditional wedding dress, I wanted a short dress. I asked her if she had any designers that could accommodate a short turnaround and she said it depends on the dress and designer. So I confirmed my appointment. I did receive a friendly reminder call for my appointment the day before and the sales associate confirmed the time, requested I bring pictures and mention that I was only allowed to bring 2 additional guests with me. Well, I arrived on time for my 3:00 pm appointment with my sister and upon walking in the door there was No One at the front desk to receive customers, and no seats available because of another large party with more than 2 guests. Once someone arrive to the front desk and I'm going to assume it was the owner, she recognized I was a new customer and said I'll be right with you. So here are the issues there was no "welcome to Leftys Bridal how may I assist", hmmm ok? When I mentioned my name and my appointment time she asked me what are you here to see are you the bride? WOW, really ? how you do maintain your customer appointments? When I mentioned my name she should have known why and who became that's customer service! So at 3:05 she gave me a form to complete regarding my contact and wedding information which I completed and she said I will be right with you. Then at 3:15., she apologizes for the wait and mentions that she was running behind and basically told me I could go in the boutique area and look at the dresses. There was no one to assist me or direct me on where to look. So I'm like really? but I tried to make the best of my appointment so my sister and I started looking at dresses and we asked a gentleman who was actually the husband and he was kind of enough to help us and then gave us some bridal books to review. So it's now 3:35 and no has even spoken to me. Needless to say, I quietly left the salon very disappointed. I wasn't even mad I was really sad because the business owner knew nothing about customer service and it never crossed her mind. You never know who your customers are and it's important to know that. I did go to the bridal salon in Tyson Corner without an appointment and the customer service was excellent and I was able to order a dress within my due date. Here's some advice for the owner 1. Improve your customer service, your brides and customers need to have an experience upon arriving and throughout the entire process . 2. Your sales associates should be dress professionally 3. When your schedule is behind start calling customers to reschedule 4. Upgrade your gown stock and bridal books At the end, the salon is not for the high expectation clientele. I went to Lefty's bridal on a Saturday afternoon after visiting David's Bridal. We didn't have an appointment but they attended to me and my guests immediately. We told her the price range we wanted to stay within, and she brought a few dresses in that range (at David's, they went quite a bit over the range I'd given). We ended up buying the wedding dress there. We had gone there looking for Alfred Angelo gowns, but the dress I bought was one of her creations, and I got sooooooo many compliments on it on my wedding day. They were also very helpful in helping us go through some bridesmaids dresses, but alas, we weren't ready at that time or we would have purchased those as well. We were told the dress would arrive in two weeks and would do alterations at that time. we arrived at the appointment and were told that lefty did not have time to do any alterations until after the prom season! The dress was too long and did not fit properly under the arms. What was the purpose of taking measurements if you had no intention of altering the dress. She offered to refer us to someone else after we spent money at her establishment. This was so unprofessional and the reason why black establishments get a bad rap. All she did was order the dress. We could have done this on our own and saved our $700.00. Not a way to keep clients or obtain new ones. read more

My daughter found her dream wedding dress in Cleveland Ohio, where that boutique provided her a red carpet bride-to-be experience her, but she continued to look. When she came to Maryland, she went to Lefty's and found the same dress and bought it at Lefty's Boutique. The plus was the dress arrived early and since my daughter lives in Ohio, she asked me to pick it up. So I called the day before to let the staff know I was coming to pick up the gown at noon to 1pm. My appointment cancelled so I drove to get to Lefty's by the time they are scheduled to open at 11 am. I set parked in front of the boutique for an hour before a young woman showed up, parking beside me. Since there were other businesses, I asked if she was with Lefty's. She looked at me and said no she wasn't. I sat in my car for another 30 minutes when that same woman leaned out of the door of Lefty's and asked if I was Mrs. Gerald and said to come into Lefty's. She said you said you would be here at noon. I said my scheduled changed, but that shouldn't matter since you advertise you open at 11 am. So the woman who turned out to be the daughter of the owner, who had a huge nasty attitude because I came early, had already bagged up my daughters wedding dress and said here it is and here is your receipt. Then I said aren't you going to show me the dress first so I can look over it, ensure its the right dress and in good condition. She just ignored me. So I unzipped the heavy bagged dress to take a brief look then left. Once my daughter did view and try it on, some of the beading was missing and one of the straps was hanging by a threads. My experience showed me that Lefty's daughter has very poor business etiquette. When thousands of dollars is spent at your business for wedding gowns you should be flipping over with to provided the utmost customer service from opening to closing. I would not recommend Lefty's bridal boutique. If you really want the red carpet experience every bride deserves, don't go there. read more

Wow. This woman is totally amazing. Lefty runs this shop out of her home with her family and they are really amazing. I felt like I had been transferred from Bridal World Madness of all the other stores I had been to, to this amazing, tranquil place where they were just going to make everything better. And they did. Lefty can get almost any dress you want for a better price than what you will find elsewhere, and she is also trained in fashion and as a seamstress, and she can handle all alterations for you on site. The only thing that I can say nice about this shop is that Lefty, the owner, is really nice. Unfortunately that is where it ends. Some of the other staff members there have no customer service skills at all, at times they are down right rude. I am a bridesmaid in a wedding that is taking place out of town. After speaking with a representative at Lefty's I was told I had to order the dress by early February to get it back in early April in time for the wedding on April 26th. I went to the shop in February, paid extra to have it rushed, and we are now 3 days before I catch a plane and I have not received the dress yet. I called to check on the desk and was told "oh it is supposed to be here, let me call and check". Clearly there is no tracking system to keep up with such things. I was told the dress would arrive either Thursday or Friday, the weekend before my departure. Nope still wasn't there when I checked. With the rush services this dress cost me almost $300. Another bridesmaid, who ordered her dress 1 week AFTER I did, went to a bridal shop in Mt. Rainer and she has received her dress back almost a month ago and didn't have to pay for rush! The bride even received her dress late. I honestly could not recommend this shop to anyone. read more

I've been to Lefty's on 3 separate occasions. The first was prior to my prom season as myself and my cousin were both trying to get ideas on what formal wear we should go with on the (then) most important evening of our lives. We entered only looking before being met with an associate (who I assume is her mother), told us we needed to have an appointment. When we told her that we were only looking she waved us off and let us look for a grand total of 10 minutes before basically kicking us out. When we arranged an appointment and came back with someone we were given plenty of catalogs to look through while another girl simply walked in and was serviced immediately without an appointment. Maybe before she thought we were kids without money, but a customer is still a customer. We were left to look alone without any help or recommendations by anyone instead being passed a pad of sticky notes to mark pages of dresses we liked. We were both measured to determine the right size of the dresses to ensure proper fit. We found dresses and paid and left to return once they arrived for a fitting. When we returned for our fittings I was shocked to find that my dress did not fit despite me putting down the size that I was told based on my recorded measurements. I broke down in tears behind the idea of my day being ruined. The associate offering no comfort insisted that I must've lied and put down the wrong size or have been gaining weight. Luckily, Lefty offered to change the zip into a lace back in order for it to fit correctly. I can still tell that the dress was a little snug in the photos but I still looked okay. I was told the lefty's Bridal was a great place to go for my wedding dress. I called about making an appointment this weekend. I was not happy by the end of the call. The young lady on the phone asked, "what my budget was?". I told her that I wanted to spend $500.00 on my dress. She replied, ohh that the sales rack does state a particular price range and I was fine with that. Yes it my wedding but I do need to live after that. She goes on to tell me that most dresses are $1000 & up. I said I don't see me paying that much for one day, after that she said maybe you should come here I was a little pissed off. Funny thing I got a call today about my appointment. Why in Sam hell would I want to come after that. I called and spoke to the manager today. She told her about my call on Wednesday, her response, was she did not say anything wrong about the sales rack and made it seem like what she did was ok. I asked to speak to someone else, but she was the person I needed to speak to, because the owner is her mother WOW the problem I have a budget that works for me not your store I could pay more if I seen something that jumped out at me not only did your store miss out on my bride, you lost my tem bridesmaids. I really wish there was a way to give them ZERO stars. Where do I start? I'm a bridesmaid in my BFF's wedding and she picked this place for our dress needs. (BAD IDEA) Customer service: Walking through the door of this establishment I got bad vibes. I was not greeted by anyone I stood at the front desk for at least 5 mins before someone even acknowledged me. Once I was acknowledged I spoke to the Lefty's husband. I told him I was there to pay for a bridesmaid dress and I had an appointment. He went to get his rude wife who has very little knowledge of the business she's in. She looks at me & says OMG your so tall (Like I'm the tallest person she's ever seen). She takes my measurements then proceed to tell me that I need extra length this dress is meant for a person up to 5'10 ahhhh I'm 5"9 so what's the problem... I'm like fine whatever I just want to pay and go... I pay and leave. To find out that she charged me for the wrong dress (really lady) her LIE was that her husband told her I said I was the Maid of Honor either her or her husband made up that lie to try and cover themselves... Instead of just apologizing & refunding me the difference.. Six weeks later I get a call from the shop telling me that the dress I paid for doesn't come in extra length... Why is it that it took you all 6 weeks to find out this information? Lefty tells me everything would be fine the dress won't be to short but just 6 weeks ago you told me it would be and made me pay extra... I could go on about the lack of customer service in this place. Location: Is great & easy to find. I would NOT recommend this place for anyone... July 2015, my daughter and I visited Lefty's Bridal & Boutique. Upon entering, we were greeted with a very warm smile and a hello. While they were attending to customers that had appointments, we were informed that one of them would be with us shortly. Even though we were there just to ask a few questions and browse a little, to my surprise we ended up trying on wedding gowns, mother of the bride gowns AND ordering both that same day. The service and assistance we received from Lefty and her daughters were absolutely amazing and worthy of "word of mouth" advertising. I cannot say enough about the total customer service and customer satisfaction we received from Lefty and her entire staff. Even though, they exhibited total professionalism, they also made me feel as though I had known them for years and that they were truly my friends. Every commitment that was made to us from the ordering process to the delivery time well exceeded our expectations (especially considering what a "few" of the other bridal shops we visited told us). Here it is January 2016 and I have long picked up the gowns (September and November 2015) from Lefty's and they are still helping me. I stopped in yesterday, and I was still treated as well as I was treated the first day I walked through the door in July 2015. These people are not "artificial." They are genuinely courteous, friendly, caring, and work to ensure that you are pleased with them as well as your purchase. Ms. Lefty and her girls were so professional. They made my family and I feel comfortable the moment we walked in. She was so very knowledgeable about wedding gowns, alterations and all that I needed in regards to my dress. The worst experience EVER!!! You expect as a bride-to-be to be treated like you're embarking on the biggest day of your life. Right? Well, I received the total opposite! These money-hungry people not only charged me a deposit amount to take a picture of a wedding gown I was considering, but kept my money after I decided not to get the dress! I did not leave the store with any merchandise, however, my bank statement reflects otherwise! Now I'm out of close to $300 and didn't get anything!! read more

I went to Lefty's to order a Maid of Honor's Dress for my Sister's Wedding. The service in the beginning was nice and the 3 Bridesmaid and myself ordered our dresses. Well this is where the story starts my sisters colors are gold and ivory and my dress came back in a shade of yellow the dress was 2 sizes too big. When I told Lefty that this is not the color that I ordered and she beat me down that it was and that we could incorporate that shade of yellow into my sister's color scheme!! Are we serious we are going to change the color of her wedding to accomodate this ugly too big dress. Out of the 4 dresses that was ordered only one fit the bridesmaid. The measurements were wrong and we are just out of money, because she quickly pointed out that there was NO EXCHANGE and NO REFUND. Then she had the nerve to tell me that she was going to put my dress on the rack in her store for SALE. Attended a scheduled appointment with my sister, we did meet with Lefty and her assistant. Discussed body type and what she was looking for. My sister really wanted to see some of the stuff on the website, to which they did not have. She was told to look through the bridal book and mark what she liked. Did that...nothing happened. My sister went into the dressing room w/ the assistance, Lefty herself took the book, and closed it, not even looking at her choices. My sister was only allowed to try on about three dresses. When I pulled another dress, I was told "uh uh...we don't do that." All and all, while she liked the dress at Lefty's, I could not fathom spending the money there. We felt a little put off by the whole wedding experience there. Later, my sister did find a dress somewhere else with better customer service, for more than what she intended on spending (It happens sometimes, but it is beautiful). I guess I have seen the day when coming into your store, I should be grateful. Because as Lefty told us..."I am Lefty, I know what I am doing, I have been doing this for more than 20 years." We must all be mindful, just because we have been, and can do things, don't mean we should keep on doing it that way. A template of questions regarding body type, bridal style, designers, and possible budgets, should be triaged on the phone, or sent via email to develop a profile before the bride shows up. Staff should be trained to do so when brides confirm they are making an appointment and coming in. Upon your arrival, in such a small shop, the dresses should already be pulled and on a rolling rack ready for the customer to try on. Also, if the customer makes an appointment, they should get the attention they deserve. They are only spending their money, that's all. Giving compliment where it is due, the assistant was very nice. I really wanted to give this shop a good review because I LOVE that it's a black owned FAMILY business...BUT my experience there this past weekend left me a bad first impression. We had a 4:00 pm appointment to try on dresses for my best friend's wedding. Our entire party was there on time, yet no one even acknowledged our presence once we arrived. It seemed pretty busy, as there wasn't even a place for us to be seated. After telling them we had an appt at 4, about 30 min later, a young lady directed us to some seats that finally became available. We began to look for a dress and another young lady came to our table and began to rush us to try on dresses as they were closing at 5pm. She said we needed to be on time for our appointment, so now we have to try on as much as we can in 15 min. We expressed to her that we were ON TIME and NO ONE offered to help us upon arrival, nor did anyone budge to accommodate us when we told them we had an appt. at 4 until 4:30. We felt as though we deserved an additional 30 minutes, however we felt rushed and we could tell the employees were itching to leave as they kept making remarks about closing time. They attempted to be polite but we could still sense that they were anxious and frustrated. It was very unprofessional of them to rush us through our process due to their lack of attentiveness and timeliness and extremely unprofessional for them to TELL US that we were late which is why our session has be rushed, especially when it was untrue. However, the prices were very reasonable and they appeared to have MOST of the items showcased in the bridal catalogs. There was A LOT of bling, so if BLING is your thing, you may find what you need in this shop. I would suggest the last appointments of the day (for weekends maybe) be changed to 3:30 pm instead of 4 pm, in the event that someone ACTUALLY IS late or if it's too busy accommodate all potential clients. Perhaps this will give them some leeway to properly accommodate ALL appointments in a timely manner and they can LEAVE ON TIME as well. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! When I walked in the shop I was greeted by a lady who appeared pleasant at first. I filled out a form and she asked me my budget.. When I gave her my budget of $1000 she made a face and said "well I will see what we can do". She made no eye contact at all!!! Next I was greeted by a young lady who looked about the age of 10. She was very short and abrupt and acted as if I was annoying her. She did very little to assist in helping me find a gown. Mind you my appointment was at 3:00 and I was waiting on my friend to arrive, my friend got to the boutique around 3:30. Once my friend arrived she helped me pick out a few more gowns... around 3:40 I was told by the girl, "your time is almost up". I asked her to explain.. she stated that I only get a hour to try on gowns and anything after an hour would not be accommodated. I was in disbelief, a HOUR to try an wedding gowns!!! WOW!!! This information is important to know when booking appointment. The customer service is terrible!!! Do NOT waste your time or energy at this weak boutique!!!! read more
