    Nobody likes to receive a call from a collection agency, including me…read more I received a call from Cathy telling me I had a past due balance from my Business Auto Insurance Carrier. I told her I was unaware of the debt and would like some time to check on the debt since I had sold my business over a year ago. She was very understanding. She asked how much time I needed, and I told her to please follow up with me if she had not heard back from me within a few days. I sent my old insurance agent an e-mail and copied Cathy. Cathy and I stayed in touch and today my agent told me that my Business did have a balance due from when I sold my business. I paid my balance due over the phone and thanked Cathy for her patience and professionalisms while I got this sorted out.... I believe, no matter how unpleasant being turned over for collection may be, if you treat someone like Cathy with respect, and understand they are just doing their job, which most likely is not pleasant for them, they will work with you to help resolve your issue.     If I could give less than one star, I would. I have never…read morehad a more disgusting, toxic, abusive and gaslit discussion than with this company. The dude that called was extremely abrasive, and threatened to "Destroy your credit". Berated me into trying to cave and pay way more than the company was asking them to recover. All this over a simple issue with an invoice vs quote clarification, and an honest game of phone tag. I have met some abusive and manipulative people in my life, but this interaction is one of the worst I've ever had. THE most aggressive debt collector I've ever had the displeasure of working against. I called the original company back, and worked it out like adults with them, and am paying what we both believe is fair after going through the invoice and comparing it with the quote we received. No yelling, no berating, no gaslighting, and amicable. They're now fully aware of how Verliance operates, and they will not use them in the future, as they have lost my business in a small town where word gets around fast. Because of this, the original company lost money, I lost money, and both the original company and Verliance lost customers over a simple invoice vs quote issue. Well done! We all lost.
