Had the owner Doug come out and give us a good consultation of the work needing done (sub fascia flashing, gutters and small roof repair) and a quote for concrete pad. Said he would get me the quote within the day. A week goes by, no contact. I've called emailed and went through their website for an updated quote and got no response. Was very disappointed, Doug was honest and straight forward and I was looking forward to giving him my business. The man/company just ghosted me. We hired Doug King of SMK Property Maintenance to complete our deck project. The work was originally scheduled to begin on October 14 but did not commence until November 4, and the project was not completed until December 10. What should have been a straightforward undertaking extended to nearly two months. During the process, we were advised to order the wrong product, which was subsequently installed and could not be returned. As a result, the deck's initial appearance was unsatisfactory. To his credit, Doug corrected the issue by having the incorrect boards removed and replacing them with the proper materials. However, this required us to purchase the correct materials ourselves, further delaying the project. While the finished deck ultimately looks excellent, the overall experience was marked by significant frustration and avoidable setbacks. I wanted to add some pictures of the half assed job his guy did. This is in our kitchen where we had the leak. Of course it leaked into the house. Part of the repair was to use kilz paint to kill the mildew or mold. They did not because we peeled the "new mud" off because of his terrible job of fixing the original leak. We fixed the original leak by paying someone else to do the job the correct way. Now we are fixing inside. read more

Good luck here. If you read the other reviews below I really don't need to write mine, but I will! Here is what to expect: High prices, workers that should not be workers, no show, late show, have to hunt down to find out when they are coming, argumentative and beyond rude to customers (I was called rude by the way). Make sure you read the invoice as none of the prices quoted include materials. I missed that and got a $450 surprise, which he neglected to bill me earlier after he had given me a final bill. And don't expect to communicate with them after they sell you their bill of goods as they will hide behind the texting on their phone. No social or customer service skills at all. And if you don't pay the bill they want you to pay they threaten you with a lien. Be careful. read more

Terrible service, did the overall job but failed to make the repair they were hired to do. The whole repair was botched and then tech came back and did a patch to the job to the repair he was supposed to do correctly the first time, Doug and Brad hide behind text and the techs and office help, never responding directly to issues. After making a half dozen requests to talk to the owners directly, not even a text or call back. Avoid all together or be a helicopter customer to make sure everything is done correctly the first time. Never realized I had to babysit the tech to make sure they did the job correctly. Take many pictures and stop any work not being done properly. Took the money and ran. Promised to make necessary corrections, but backed out and never showed back up and then shut me out at the office level. read more

Before the owner can bash me and say they didn't preform any services, I'll explain why they didn't do the service I requested. I paid my deposit July 3rd, 2023 for 5 interior doors which they would provide. The original install date was set for July 25, they had to rescheduled because the technician was out of town. We reschedule for August 3rd. I was told the technician would be at my house between 8 and 10 am. I called SKM at 10:15 asking where he was to be told he'd be there within the hour. The hour came and went and no technician. He was over an hour and half late. HE DIDN'T HAVE MY DOORS. He offered to run to Home Depot and buy them on the spot. At this point I was done. He was already late and because my doors need to be trimmed it would have to be rescheduled again. The owner refuses to reimburse the deposit. Find a different company. read more

Very good people! The office staff was amazing kind and knowledgeable about their job. The Contractors however, are sub-contracted out. So every contractor skills are not the same. We had to have different contractors come out to finish the deck properly, due to Many mistakes of the first contractor. Thats were the ownwer of the company Doug King honored his written warranty! HE COMPLETLY GUARANTEES any work done under SKM property maintenance name. He sent another highly skilled contractor out and was he practically rebuild my deck. If I were you & were considering a maintenance crew STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Every negative review on here I have experienced the same exact thing. He hires people that don't know anything about what needs to be done and how to do it. I'm talking about simple things like putting a ceiling fan in. Mr. Doug DO NOT act like you have no idea what these peolpe are talking about. Someone got your name wrong? Dan, Doug same thing. She probably is trying to forget your name because you ripped her off so bad DOUG KING. I hired this fool to hang a couple ceiling fans & couldn't even do that properly. I had to hire someone else to come back & fix it. The ceiling fans were hanging by a thread (very dangerous). If you can't even do that properly why in the world would anyone want you back in there house? So you can do more damage?? YA, NO THANK YOU! I told you about the problem & you want to play houdini! You never came & checked on your workers not 1 time & this company was at my house for 3 months. If you actually did your job & checked on what the people you hired, you would of saw the disaster they did to my house. Just the ceiling fans (3 of them) costed me $2,005.00, beacause again I had to hire someone else to fix THE DAMAGE YOU DID! This Guy DOUG KING IS A SCAMMER! He also tripped my breaker during the process and I had to have an electrician come to fix it, the guy you had do this to my house told me I had no choice but to have an electrician come out. I also hired him to install doors (screen door & storm door). The same night I went to close my storm door & the screen door fell off the hinges & glass shattered everywhere! The door I HAD was all glass, So now here I am again, I had to buy another door (which are not cheap as you know) and hire another person to install them properly because he was incompetent to even do that. That whole process with the doors costed me $1,045.00. Not to mention I put a very big deposit down before he ever had this mindless subcontractor he hired to do nothing but screw up everything he touched. Hanging a toilet paper holder was even screwed up. He literally couldn't even hang a toilet paper holder up correctly. He did several other things as well, as you can see my review is very lengthly, I promise I can write an encyclopedia on the other issues I haven't even disclosed. Just know if you hire DOUG KING you will absolutely regret it in the end. This kid sits back, takes your money & runs. He doesn't walk he runs! So needless to say I give a review of -1,000,000.00. The worst company.. They hire outside people with no credentials to do the job. They require 1/2 up front and don't reimburse you when the job isn't completed. We hired them to power wash the deck and paint and seal it. The worker did a half ass job, and we could see all the old paint through the new paint. Come to find out after firing this company that the guy was using the wrong paint with no sealer, and we had to do the whole job ourselves. That was $750 down the drain, and I did not pay the remainder due to the job not being done. The owner will not feel bad in any way, and has not excuses for his incompetency. 0/5 stars. Do NOT work with SKM. The lack of professionalism, communication, and accountability was abhorrent. We found SKM online and reached out to schedule a quote. Estimator came out and gave a quote (replacing laundry basin/faucets, repairing broken kitchen drawer, fixing garbage disposal that keeps malfunctioning, adding whole house surge protector, exterior door painting, etc.) and stated that all materials could be purchased day of, which we agreed to, gave half the quote for a deposit, and were then added to the schedule. He informed us that it would be a "team" and that they complete the job before moving to a different job. The next day, we had questions because the invoice did not list all of the specifics of what we discussed, so we clarified with office staff and made sure it was updated, which they said they sent back to estimator and he approved. Two weeks later we called to have two additional items estimated (painting and low water pressure) and asked to speak with the estimator so that we could add to the project. Estimator did not follow up with multiple attempts and office staff said they could not reach him so instead scheduled an appointment for him to return. Estimator missed arrival window because he was sitting in front (in his car, on the phone) for over an hour. He then drove away, so we called office who said they would reach out to him and he arrived 45 minutes later. He provided the quote and said they could be added to current project. We asked if any materials needed to be ordered in advance and he informed us that everything will be purchased at the time the project starts and that they will not move forward to another project until completed. We called the office and confirmed we wanted to add the low water pressure investigation. We were told this was fine. The day of the project, Friday 9/27, arrives and no one shows up for the 8-10 window. We call the office and 2 hours later they say that the project team can't come, since they are on a different project. They want to reschedule for Saturday. We say that we can't do Saturday and ask if we can have just a plumber come Saturday and the rest come on Monday. Office staff says they will reach out to owner to ask. Owner says not a possibility, so we agree to Monday morning, first thing. Given the repeated confusion and miscommunication, we ask to have the owner call so that we can make sure we have the right people arriving on Monday. Owner never calls. Saturday morning we receive multiple texts from a single contractor saying that he wants to arrive today because he needs this job and can handle everything on the invoice. We reluctantly agree, since we want the plumbing done. He arrives late morning, takes measurements and asks questions, he then heads to purchase items. He is gone for a few hours and then reaches out and says that he can't find anything that meet the measurements and specifics (as stated and reviewed in the invoice) that we need for the materials. He says that these kinds of items should have been pre-ordered and there in advance. He shares that he has been repeatedly trying to reach out to the owner throughout the afternoon and that the owner is not responding to any of his attempts at communication. Monday morning, 8:30am, rolls around, which was the "new" scheduled arrival time for the SKM team and no one shows up. We call the office multiple times and there is no answer until 9:45am when we are told that "the owner needs to get involved". The office states that the project was "abandoned" and they are not sure when a team can come out. It is now 10/7 and we have not heard from the owner/office and our project remains incomplete, although they have our deposit. The lack of communication and professionalism was astounding, hence this review. Again, I urge you to reconsider using SKM for your project. Mistakes happen, things come up, and everyone has a bad day, but this was not that. This was repeated incompetence and a total disregard of accountability/ownership by SKM management. read more

We had skm do two projects for us, the first was our pavers being relaid. The guy who came left bricks missing, bricks were not flat and when trying to get in contact with him, he would give us a date when he would be back to fix our issue but never returned. For the price you expect it to look great with no missing bricks. Secondly, we had a deck built, the guy who did the deck was awesome, him and his crew did a great job. They really went over the top to make us happy. However, Doug is incredibly hard to get a hold of, will not call unless you're bugging him and then will send a text rather than give you a call. If we're spending money with your company you would expect the courtesy of a phone call. I get they are probably busy but they need more people working the office answering phones. Not our problem. There is a massive lack of communication between customers and management. Doug came to give us a quote without measuring or writing any plans out for the contractors which made it incredibly difficult for not only for us but the people building our deck. They say they want customers happy but ignore texts/calls, have people show up incredibly late or push the project completely and has a lack of decency. Also, the "contracts" are massively outdated. There was nothing itemized or explained on the contact. It was typed piece of printer paper. You can't buy invoice sheets?? I'm certain the company has potential but it is not where it needs to be and I think they are in way over their heads. Either they will fix their issues or this business will absolutely fail. summer is prime time for "con-tractors" intent on scamming their customers. Over the years I have seen several of those. But, SKM tops all of them by far. I have asked for a quote to paint my 400 ft^2 backyard deck and small front porch (which I usually do it myself every other year. It takes me between 3-4 hours). SKM sent me a quote for $4000 ($2500 for the backyard deck and $1500 for the front porch. By the way, the front porch takes me between 30-45 minutes max. To stain. Since I don't have the time for the next 4 weeks to do it myself, I called another very good contractor I have used in the past. He came by and gave me a quote for $250 plus sealant cost of $250 for the backyard deck. I just want everyone to beware of SKM. read more
