From day one, despite meeting all stated rental qualifications, I was told they were unsure if they wanted to rent to me (which in hindsight I believe the issue was my race. ) . No clear reason was provided, which raised serious concerns for me. I made it clear that I met their requirements and was willing to move forward under the listed terms, but I would not agree to any unfair or additional conditions. After they were unable to find another tenant, they proceeded with renting the property to me. Upon move-in, the home was in unacceptable condition. It was not properly cleaned, and there were multiple issues that I immediately reported after my walkthrough. I was told that no additional cleaning or repairs would be done prior to move-in. Due to my circumstances, I had no choice but to proceed. Shortly after moving in, I discovered that the shower would not drain properly. I submitted a maintenance request, expecting communication before any visit. Instead, a third-party vendor was sent without notice while I was not home, and I was charged for the visit. I disputed the charge but received no resolution and ultimately had to pay it. Throughout the winter, my heating bills were extremely high around $300 per month for a home under 900 square feet. This further confirmed my concerns about the property's condition, including insulation and overall maintenance, which I had raised at the beginning. Ironically, once I gave notice that I would be moving out, the city came to inspect the property and cited multiple issues I had previously reported, including problems with insulation and the garage door. This is a family-run business, and my interactions with staff were consistently negative. I found them to be rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Communication felt uncomfortable and unproductive, as my concerns were not taken seriously. To make matters worse, after moving out, I was price gouged with additional charges that felt excessive and unjustified. If you own a property managed by the Nelson family, this is the type of experience your tenants are having. If you're wondering why tenant turnover is high, this is likely why. Based on my experience, I would not recommend renting from Nelson Property Management. Renters deserve to be treated fairly, with respect, and to live in a property that is properly maintained. If you are Black, be very careful with this team. Read the reviews. They are telling the truth. I truly wish I would have listened.

It wasn't a bad apartment for the cost, but it was in a very old building. There was only two stories and the interior decor and furnishings looked reminiscent of the 70s maybe. Many of the Amber apartments now of course are much nicer and have town houses and condos available to rent now. I had a small bedroom with one small bathroom, but it had a long closet in the hallway, which was part of the living room area. The kitchen was fairly small as well, but functional. It surprisingly had a large dining area that fit my 12 seater table. Don't see much updates to the old apartments since then. It isn't the nicest or most luxurious the most updated apartment, but it worked for six months. If you intend to stay longer, I would advise otherwise.

As time progressed the management company had enough of Carol and did not want to service our community any more. Lawyers Condo Management was brought on without our association's vote by the sole action of Carol, our deranged Association President. Our "representative" from Lawyers Condo Management is a bitchy little girl who refuses contact with anyone. She turned on me for no reason after working to get some rules enforced. I WAS the association vice president until someone just decided that I am no longer in that capacity, no meeting, no vote by the board. Obviously Lawyers Condo Management has no problem doing these underhanded things, against the bylaws. Lawyers Condo Management turns our heat off EVERY YEAR while the temperature still drops below comfortable levels. 2 weeks ago I woke up to 60 degrees. I will NOT live in a temperature like that when I pay monthly dues that INCLUDE HEAT! Years ago, when we were first deprived of our building heat, Carol told me that "If people are cold they can put on a sweater or get a blanket." What an intelligent solution! Funny, Carol lives in the new building, where every unit has its own furnace.

The maintenance folks are speedy and always leave a business card and note as well-- very thoughtful.
