Perhaps they didn't think I was actually going to buy a home or perhaps they just didn't like the cut of my jib as I was passed along in fairly short order to a junior agent (or so this person seemed) after my initial meeting with the mother/daughter duo. It's obviously within their purview to determine who on their team might best be paired with a potential client, but nothing was clearly stated; it just sort of occurred. I'm a fan of direct communication, so it would have been good to be told: We'd like you to work with so-and-so because we think so-and-so would best serve your needs. The viewing process with this particular agent was roughly like this: I was told at various points to 'throw a bunch of money' at a property if I really liked it and that 'there's no such thing as a house that is too big' when I mentioned that a particular property didn't suit my needs (or my budget). Questions like: 'How old is the roof?' were helpfully lobbed on my behalf, to be fair. Point for prospective newbie buyers: We do quickly learn to ask such questions as well, so do not necessarily need an agent to act on our behalf in that arena. The agent assisting me was pleasant enough, but seemed very busy with other clients. This resulted in my feeling like the agent did not have adequate time to engage with me in my home-buying needs. My last email to the agent regarding an upcoming viewing went unanswered for nearly three weeks. I had already been working with a new realtor when a mass emailer 'reply' neither addressed to me specifically nor having anything to do with my original query popped up in my inbox. Not bothering to answer, I went on to purchase a home with the invaluable assistance of someone else. read more

Jennifer and Carren miraculously helped us sell our San Francisco starter home despite somewhat of a dip in the market at the time. We believe that their incredible advocacy and staging work helped to give our property a competitive advantage over comparable ones nearby that languished on the market or even had to be removed from the market for an attempt to sell later. As first-time homebuyers, Jennifer and Carren were wonderful in guiding us through the process in finding our special home. We asked our friends to recommend a realtor, and of all the reco's we interviewed, Jen and Carren were far and away the most knowledgeable, straightforward and fun. That was two years ago, and then we decided not to buy a place (in hindsight, good decision given the market!) Fast forward to August 2009, walking down the street one day, popped into an open house to be nosy, fell in-love with the place, decided to make an offer.
