At first, everything was good. Scheduled an appointment with Sue to see the unit. Saw it. Loved it and applied. She was very professional until she wasn't. Its been two months now and I haven't heard back to see if I was approved for the apartment. I emailed her a couple times to check on status of application and all I get is "ill talk to her tomorrow" or "it was a holiday sorry for the delay" etc. Just be upfront! Its either a yes or a no. Simple as that. If someone gets approved or denied you let them know. This company is a joke. Highly DO NOT recommend. read more

NEVER APPLY TO SOMETHING THROUGH RELISTO or any service that uses Able Screening AN ABSOLUTE TRASH FIRE. Hostile customer service that refuses to comply with requests or explain why they can't comply w/ data deletion requests. The app feels horrible, insecure (didn't do things like mask SSNs when they're being input, among other issues which I won't go into here cause it's not my job to fix other ppl's garbage software), and asks for information beyond what I have needed to apply to any other apartment in my life. See Stuart F.' and others' reviews for corroboration (clearly they don't listen to non-landlord customer feedback either since many were written in 2015). Felt deeply uncomfortable filling the information out, and they refused to delete my application when requested. Finally, after a 15+ email chain and getting on the phone with someone they repeatedly refused to respond to my deletion request directly stating that the Fair Housing / Credit Reporting Acts prevented them from doing so (may be true for some parts of the data, but definitely not most of it). SOME of the requested data may fall under this umbrella, but they are still requesting far more information than is required for this, and refuse to delete it ex-post. It's not worth it to use ReListo, find another place to live read more

Every step of the process was difficult. I worked with Joseph Johnson and he was late to my initial showing and was rude throughout almost every exchange we had after that. Throughout my time working with them, I had multiple bad experiences. Here is one: Joseph told me on a Thursday that I had to submit payment via a certified check by the end of the day on Friday. I accepted that and said I'd drop it off at their office. He told me to leave it in a little drop box outside the office, but I would never just leave a certified check of that amount in a drop box - better yet in that rundown neighborhood. Especially without a written receipt of payment. He gave me a specific time during which someone would be at the office to give me a receipt of the payment. When I got there, no one was there. I called Joseph and he told me that I could walk around the nearby grocery store or get ice cream while I waited 40 min for someone to show up. LOL. Really?! Their website is awful. Their communication is awful. I will refuse to engage with this company ever again. read more

I've been a tenant at a property managed by ReLISTO for about a year and a half, and the management team has been really spectacular. We have had a number of maintenance issues come up over the months, ranging from minor (broken dishwasher) to major (water damage from upstairs unit), and ReLISTO has always been prompt and responsive to our maintenance tickets. I've gotten same-day service on a number of occasions, and almost always within a 2-day window. Their online portal has been easy to navigate as well. What a joke of a property management company. CJ Corman was our property manager and it became apparent pretty quickly that he didn't know how to do his job. Luckily, we were in close contact with the actual real estate agent of the property owner who was a life saver. Throughout our stay at the property he was managing we had to get the public health board involved before they would get a pest company out to help with an infestation. Upon our departure, we hired a contractor, painter, and floor waxing service to ensure we left the place in better condition than we received the property. In typical predatory fashion, CJ still managed to fraudulently drum up $8k worth of costs to take out of our deposit. Luckily we had photo and video evidence of what the place looked like before move in and after move out. We fought tooth and nail to get our deserved money back but it wasn't until we threatened him with legal action that he started to cooperate. Don't know what the other property managers are like but CJ was a nightmare. Unprofessional, predatory, and incompetent. Luckily we were able to resolve the situation thanks to the help of the landlords real estate agent. You'd be better off having a retired blind dairy cow manage your property. read more

While we absolutely loved the house, the process of leaving and getting our security deposit back has been an absolutely nightmare. For some reason, ReLISTO bowed out of the security deposit process, and though we spent the entire time working with ReLISTO while we rented the property, the previous owner had possession of our security deposit to do whatever she wanted to with it, without speaking or negotiating directly with us at all. The previous owner (Niki Herr), who has since moved back into the house, charged us over $5,400 to redo her floors, which only had minimal/reasonable wear and tear from being rented for over a year and half. Unfortunately, ReLISTO did not help us with this process and basically wiped their hands clean of the situation after we told them we were leaving. The owner also said one of the refrigerator drawers was missing and charged us over $100 for that, when it was actually just in a cabinet.... So basically we lost most of of our security deposit based on Niki's own personal opinion and whims, with absolutely no say from us. In addition, some of the people that worked at ReLISTO and dealt with the properties were not helpful or combative when it came to repairs. At this point, we've already moved across the country, so there's not much we can do, but this is one of the only times I've been shocked and disappointed enough to write a review. My husband and I have rented in both NYC and SF for over 10+ years and have never experienced anything like this...... DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY or rent from Niki Herr!!!!! read more

Like other recent reviews, I also had an overall negative experience with ReLISTO. I agree that applicants were asked to produce an excessive amount of information without assurances about how well it is guarded. I think what I would tell others is that - in my experience- ReLISTO does not view you (the applicant) as their client and you are not their top priority. Their clients are the property owners who hire them to rent out their property. Because of the wildly high demand for housing, there will always be plenty of applicants to choose from. I also am concerned that of the many 5 stars reviews, almost all of them have reviewed very few other businesses or not at all. It's pretty strange. Not a single one of them is Yelp elite (as of this review, I am the only one!) Tip for applicants - I believe (but please do your own homework) that the CA consumer regulations say that when you are charged an application fee as ReLISTO does, you are entitled to receive a itemized receipt of how your fee was spent- and it must be spent on appropriate charges like getting your credit score, it can't just be the agent making a profit. read more

I applied and got rejected, which is fine - but I'm really disappointed at the time it took for the agent to get back to me with any update; it took over four days and multiple follow up emails to find out the status of my application. We are required to produce a lot of information when applying in the bay area; drivers license, proof of employment, income, amount in savings, and more. These are reasonable things to ask for but Relisto uses no clear process to ensure security when transmitting these documents. There is no guarantee that information isn't hanging out unencrypted in their email. Upon rejection there were no suggestions for next steps or alternatives. This post has been edited to be less dramatic by request; I will not delete it because I feel reviews are worthless if the only ones are 5 stars with no details. If you are foreigner and want a short term (1-2 months) forget about them! I was dealing with Joseph. Ask him via emails about rent for 1 month only, about all the extra fees (he said theres none) also clearly stated that I am not a US resident. Finally came to see one apartment. As soon as we started discussing about the cost the extra fees appeared and the worst part he asked for my credit history. Well I can not have it as I am foreigner. Then he asked deposit in the size on 2 months rent. Who would give that huge deposit while staying just for 1 month! Stay away from this agency! read more

TENANTS BEWARE: don't rent through this company This property management company manages upscale property rentals in SF. They are extremely poor property managers. Here are just some of the countless issues we encountered with our rental. 1. Maintenance requests go ignored for months at a time. Our front steps were rotting and they didn't send anyone over to make repairs for almost 10 months from when the issue was reported. 2. Downstairs neighbors exhibited threatening and aggressive behavior. We couldn't have friends over for dinner without them banging on our door. The property management's response was to do absolutely nothing. No one even talked to the tenants. Or talked to the landlord about putting in sound insulation between floors. 3. We recently moved out and left the place in practically spotless condition. The property management company is claiming parts of our deposit for basic touch up painting and claiming the place needs to be cleaned because of a few minor issues a standard, professional cleaning would address. I have gotten my deposit back at every single place I have ever rented going back 18 years. On top of their terrible management, this is just adding insult to injury. After all, we only moved because they are so bad at managing a property and refused to address ongoing issues. 4. Current property manager was rude in communications during entirety of move out process. 5. Previous property manager brushed aside basic livability concerns - like the heating system not heating the house to SF building code standards, or noise issues due to lack of insulation in the building. To be frank, the property management operate more like sleazy landlords managing discount housing than professionals managing rentals for $5k+ on the SF market. I will never rent a ReListo managed property again and urge you to avoid this company. read more

I live in Los Angeles, and needed to rent out my mom's house in San Francisco. I had no idea how to find a tenant, how to prepare a rental agreement, plus there were a couple of house repairs I needed to do before I left town (get the air conditioner and dryer ducts cleaned; get trash taken away, repair the clothes washer) and the thought of having to get several price quotes and figure out who to hire felt overwhelming. A friend recommended I check out ReListo. I am so grateful for that recommendation...Eric and CJ, who I worked with, have been amazing! First, Eric was at my house within a day of me making my inquiry call. When we met, it was obvious he had been in the house renting business a long time and specifically knew the San Francisco market. Right away he was able to suggest a ball park rental price and it was right on point with the amount I thought as well. He also suggested a marketing plan and seemed really on top of his game. He also loved the house and was very kind and reassuring. The very next day, he took pictures of the house, and that same day posted it on Twitter. My friends could not believe how great the house looked. Eric and CJ held several open house viewings, all within a couple days of listing the property. Ten days after first meeting, the house was rented. And because of their long standing business relationships with repair and cleaning businesses in the area, CJ was able to get the air ducts and dryer ducts cleaned, and the washer replaced (repair was too expensive) at way better prices than I had found when I made an attempt to find repair people before I had to leave town. CJ also noticed the balcony was getting old and suggested to have it sanded and treated to preserve it. He had quotes and dates to do that as well. Because I handle all this myself in Los Angeles, I cannot tell you how great it is to have someone taking care of all these details even better than I would be able to . CJ also hired a cleaning crew to clean up the house prior to the move in, and even said he could help me sell tools in the garage that I needed to get rid of, and insisted on giving me the entire sale price and said he did not want to take a cut. This is an amazing company and I feel so grateful that my friend recommended them. read more

Also he tried to maintain the quality of the common area - he promptly emailed the group to clean up the stuff someone left temporarily. I had a great experience using Eric and ReLISTO to find a tenant for my downstairs flat. I was reluctant to rent given the fact I live upstairs and had concerns about what kind of tenants were below me. Eric listened closely to my concerns, asked questions, and set out to find me tenants. He must have taken 20 or 30 prospects through the property, called frequently to report results of the walk-throughs, and advised on asking price adjustments his experience and high tech research suggested I needed to make. It took a couple of months but I have kind, respectful tenants at a rental rate I'm happy with. It's great to see so many positive reviews of ReLISTO from the tenant side; this is a landlord's story. The first agent who promised to market my condo backed out at the last minute with such a stunning lack of professionalism that I was ready to write off the whole industry. In my scramble to find other help, I put out a LOT of inquiries and interviewed a lot of brokers. One of them, hand to god, was looking for a place to use as a discreet brothel. When I asked for references, she vanished. Another wanted to charge me hundreds of dollars to stock my condo with her linens. One gave me this really inappropriate hug. Others wouldn't handle listings in buildings with fewer than 20 units. Others charged exorbitant fees to both landlord and tenant. When Laura from ReLISTO came along, I knew immediately that she was the one. Relaxed and friendly, just the person you want showing your place, but also decisive and organized, just the person you want to get a deal done. Within hours of our meeting, she was listing my place on dozens of websites, finding tenant prospects, communicating with me instantly when people inquired, and making sure her responses to them were in line with my needs and expectations. She also tweaked our listing a couple of different ways based on the caliber of tenants interested in it, constantly balancing her knowledge of the market with the limitations I had to set. When it came time for showings, she gracefully hosted several prospects on short notice. She wisely counseled me, a total rookie, when I panicked. She is kind and patient. She is also a shrewd advocate for her clients. I'm not sure when she sleeps. Like other recent reviews, a terrible experience. Contacted them to list a 4 month rental for me. I spoke with Sue on the phone who informed me that ReLISTO did deal with short-term listings. I was thrilled! She then told me her colleague would reach out to me within a day. After waiting a day, I never got a call, so I called Sue back on the number that she had given me - no answer. I left her a voice mail asking her to get back to me as soon as possible as I was leaving town shortly and wanted to have the rental set up before I left. A few hours went by - still no response. Frustrated, I decided to call the main ReLISTO line again and you'll never guess who picked up right away, Sue! I got the usual "oh yeah, sorry, I was about to call you right back run-around". Turns out, ReLISTO had no intention of dealing with a short term rental and no one there was mature enough to tell me that they screwed up and that I should look elsewhere. Sue did suggest they would take the rental if I increased it to a one year rental and raised the price (which would almost ensure no one would take it). Great idea, Sue! After wasting 2 days of my time, I'm now looking at other agencies. Other concerning things: - Their office is absurdly noisy. It sounds like they run it out of a bar. You can barely hear the person on the other end. - They have lots of hardware issues. Headsets dropping out, etc. Overall, just extremely unprofessional and frustrating. I would avoid if you're trying to rent out a property. read more

I recently was sent from D.C. to San Francisco for a temporary work assignment lasting 4 months. Coming from a city that also has a lot of charm outside of the areas perpetually flooded with tourists, I knew I wanted to stay in an area where I could really experience the life of a local San Franciscan. Based on that, I certainly wasn't interested in spending 4 months in a hotel, so I was then challenged with finding a short-term furnished rental. I looked into some of the search engine recommended corporate housing companies, but the after the furnishing fees, cleaning fees and exorbitant monthly costs of rent I wasn't able to afford anything they had to offer within the city. Then I tried airbnb, but couldn't find one property that was available for the entire duration of my stay, and I wasn't interested in moving multiple times, even though all I had with me was two suitcases. My search through craigslist didn't last long either, as most of the responses I got seemed like total scams. Finally, I came across ReLISTO! There were many properties available, furnished and unfurnished, around the Bay Area within my budget. I was only looking for properties in SF, but they have properties outside of SF, as well. I emailed with interest in one of the furnished properties, and one of the agents, Sue Bowers, promptly responded and offered to show me the property and answer any of my questions. I met with her that evening at the said property, which was in an amazing location in Haight Ashbury on a lovely street just a block from all the excitement of Haight Street. Sue was very knowledgeable about the neighborhood and shared helpful information about living in SF. I didn't want to commit to the first property I saw, so I gave myself another day or two to see what else was available before settling. Within that time I still couldn't find anything elsewhere, and came back to ReLISTO with interest in another property, this time in Lower Haight. Sue was very helpful again providing information about the property and the neighborhood. I quickly knew that this was the place I wanted to rent during my time in SF. Sue worked with me to accommodate my payments using a company credit card, since I was travelling on assignment and couldn't pay by check. The ReLISTO office is in a convenient location on Hayes right off of Divisadero where I could easily walk to make payments, but the ReLISTO team then established an online payment system so that I no longer had to go to the office to make a payment, which was even more convenient. All in all, my experience with ReLISTO and working with Sue was definitely a great one. I'm so thankful to have found them. I have recommended their services to several friends in SF, and shared their info at my office for future travelers on assignment in the Bay Area. I am planning to relocate permanently to SF in the Fall, and I'm looking forward to working with ReLISTO again. read more
