As a fledgling cyclist, I was a bit hesitant to bike this trail. My wife has a bit more experience and led me to the trailhead right off the back parking lot of the YMCA. We only biked a few miles, but this is not a circular route, so we had to bike back the way we came. The trail itself is a pleasant paved path. Definitely pay attention to the path, as there are a few sharp turns particularly at the end of long downhill paths. Most hills are extremely gentle. Also, there is at least one intersection that crosses Newtown Pike, but the crosswalk actually designed with cyclists in mind. I definitely plan on coming here again. As much as I want to get in mountain biking, I need to up my road biking game first.

At the 'end' of the trail, or the beginning if you start at the Horse Park off Berea Road, there is a water station just off the trail!

This trail gets a 5 for it being the only one of it's kind around. I suppose there is a trail where the dogpark is off Leestown, and there is a 2 mile foot path at the arboretum, but this trail has a good deal of coverage that feels isolated and in the country. The path is clean and paved. It welcomes foot traffic and bicycles. It is gorgeous to walk and a joy to be on. I just wish there was more tree coverage, but that is because I am pale :) I find sanctuary on this trail.

Bullfrog crossing is a concrete circle trail in turkey run parks systems that connects the…read moreLouisville loop and sky Meadow excursion trail and takes you with views of the woods, the sky Meadow dome, duck pond and big Boulder pond. Very peaceful and easy trail. It can kinda be confusing to navigate as it isn't clearly located on the map despite the signs pointing where it is located. The best way to take the trail is park in the sky dome/sky Meadow parking lot and head left on the concrete trail past big Boulder pond. You will continue on and see the sky dome to the right. You stay on the concrete path and take it through some trees and continue right on the concrete path (this is the sky Meadow excursion part that turns into the Louisville loop). You will eventually find duck pond and it will wrap around and you will come to a intersection that says brown silo foreman with an arrow pointing left or Louisville loop with an arrow pointing right. Go right. You will be led to a bridge. Do not cross the bridge as that keeps you on the Louisville loop. Take a right back onto sky Meadow excursion trail and that small path will take you back to the parking lot you started. Very beautiful and scenic trail that has the really cool aerial sky dome view and two nice and peaceful ponds. Perfect for strollers and handicapped accessible since it is concrete the whole way.

I have yet to be to the Bullfrog crossing so wanted to knock it off my list. It is a very quiet and easy walking trail that is surrounded y ponds, woods, and meadows. Overall this is a decent walking experience but definitely not one of their best they have to offer here at Turkey Run. Fun Factor- 3 Scenery- 3 Difficulty- 1

Quiet Trails State Nature Preserve - Licking River.

Quiet Trails was my find of the year!…read more I am hesitant to write a review because putting it on the Yelp map might make it a little less secretive. I only found out about this place through word of mouth from a few friends as there is very little information online. For the locals in Harrison County, Quiet Trails has been a popular hiking spot along the Licking River. This year-round hiking trail loops 1.7 miles down to the river and back up. The loop is actually two different trails that meet up at the same point - so you can choose to go down and up the same path, or go back on the other path. We initially choose what we thought was the more difficult path (Challenger Trail) to get down to the river, and the 'easier' path back up -- but I think it should have been marked the other way around. One path is rather wide and easy to see -- the other (Deep Hollow) is very narrow and goes through some very steep areas. While some areas are clearly the path, some parts were a little bit harder to see and we had to use intuition to figure out which way to go. Yet, it is a stunningly gorgeous hike, especially on the Deep Hollow path. We were told that it would be an easy, short hike. It wasn't easy or short at all with a toddler that wanted to be carried nearly the entire time. Once we got to the river, we had a little bit of a break as he wanted to wade and splash, but we were eager to get out of the heat and back in the car. By the end of the hike, my back was so sore (can you guess who carried the kid most of the time?). We will try to come back when my child is a bit older and more willing to walk himself, or just without him on a day date. If your kids are used to hiking or over the age of five, they will most likely be fine. Also, the GPS will take you here -- but be prepared to be a bit confused as you drive through back roads to find this place. The little gravel pull-off [parking lot] with the gate and a small sign is actually the entrance to the preserve. You'll have to shimmy through the fence to get to the paths. We were so confused if we were even in the right place until we saw a person that was a seasoned hiker in this area. Thank goodness! Oh, and bring a stick to knock down some spider webs. I'm excited to come back here next summer and do more hiking!
