Tonight is the Bluemoon over Kentucky and Ballet Under the Stars is not to be missed. Sounds like a good combo to me.

This is one of the downtown vicinity Lexington parks. Although I was born and raised in Lexington, there are a few places that my parents avoided taking me as a child and this was one of them. Why? I'm not quite sure. But I sort of adapted that same mentality with my daughter. So I've not really utilized the many amenities that this park has to offer... the pool, tennis court, or skateboard park, none of those I've stepped foot around. What I have experienced at Woodland are the festivals. The Ballet Under The Stars is a two day event. You bring a blanket or a chair and boom, you're in the Woodland in crowd. The Woodland Art Fair is another annual event that I've attended. I like the event itself, but fighting the crowd and tackling the scarce parking, isn't really my thing. In my opinion, the best things about this park are the festivals hosted here and the mature trees. The worst is the parking.

I have walked and driven past this park a few times but have not really experienced it. It is a great place to bring your family. To be honest, I was a bit leary coming here because of the homeless inhabitants. I did see a few, however, they were minding their own business. Other families didn't seem to be bothered either. There are some play areas that are currently under repair but they fenced off. Hopefully they will be repaired soon. Looking forward to coming back soon.

Preface: this review is only in regards to the pool. The Good: diving pool, rock wall, kids wading pool with a pirate ship, Olympic pool, some concessions. The Bad: a lot of leaves in the pool and dead bugs outside the pool, the ground incredibly hot and is painful to walk on. The Rundown: this is the first pool in Lexington to be more than a pool with the addition of their pirate ship several years ago. They now have a a rock wall where the diving pool is which is another neat addition. The best thing about this pool is that it is inviting for all ages, there is a kids section in the middle with a pirate ship that has slides and shoots water from cannons. There is an Olympic sized pool for those who want to just swim. There is the diving board and rock wall for those who want a little adventure. The one drawback that I have found at any pool in Lexington that I have been to is that the concrete is so hot it is painful. There is an easy fix that I never understand why it isn't done. Please install small sprinklers that spray at the ground to cool the concrete down and provide the ability to comfortably walk. The Impression: after all these years it is still a great pool to go to. The pirate ship is still fun for those young enough to play, and the pool itself is fun.

This park seems like it has to much to offer. I recently attended the annual art festival held there. There appeared to be great swimming facilities, a skate park with all types of ramps, a nice play ground area, as well as plenty of actual park with large trees and green spaces. A lovely community resource.

Being from out of town - We were trying to find a skate park to run off a bit of energy for our 13 year old.

First visit to Jacobson Park, and while it felt like a crazy long hike there with two teens and a…read morepuppy during rush hour, it was worth the drive to experience a bucolic and hopping piece of the outdoors! Our puppy loved the ducks (and these were some FRIENDLY and INTERACTIVE ducks...) and we experienced some other cool avian sightings. Not a surprise - but the restrooms were suitably scary and during the first part of our visit, the overcast and gray sky made the cement building feel ripe for a horror movie experience... compete with a scary service truck and a man in stained overalls. (Please note, the gentleman was actually very friendly and engaging and was hard at work - he was not in any way a negative presence). The park is expansive and it was actually really busy for a Thursday evening. The dog park was intriguing but we ran out of time to visit. The play area had something for all ages and was popular with children through teens. Loads of parking and the shelter area was great for a school gathering. Can't wait to visit again!

I came here this afternoon looking for a new park to explore with my dog. Upon arrival, I could…read moretell that this park was huge! There are plenty of green spaces and empty fields to play frisbee, flag football, or volleyball. I drove to the dog park area since the park is strict on having the dogs on leash at all times, so I went there. The dog parks for both small and large dogs are enormous! I have never seen that size of a dog park since I was in Colorado--and that state is known for being pet friendly, so their parks and restaurants are 90% pet-friendly. I took my dog to the small dog park as he is small. It was still 4 P.m. and too hot for my dog. There are not a lot of shades in the small dog area compared to the large dog area. I did not stay that long as my dog did not like being grilled under the sun. I checked out the rest of the park by driving around and noticed a vast playground, a marina (although the water has receded), empty fields, a picnic area, and even a camping area! If I had come later in the day when it was not too hot for my dog, I would have enjoyed my stay here. I have seen plenty of residents around here with their kids, birthday party groups, and groups playing frisbee. I can tell that it is a great park to visit. Cool spot ~
