This is the absolute worst place I have lived, if I knew it was gonna be like this I would have stayed at the dorms or traveled everyday for school! The staff is so rude and nothing is ever their fault! They came in for a room inspection on spring break when I was not in town, and left my door open for a whole week my main door might I add!! And blamed it on me when I wasn't even there that whole week I left that last Friday when they went in on a Monday! And who had to pay for me if? Me! Now I do not feel so safe I can't even leave my apartment at night because I am scared! They charge for every single thing it's crazy so now I am trying to get out of my lease and the only way I can is if someone else takes over when my lease ends on July 31st! Moved out on august 1st and still have yet to receive the money that was left over in my account and was supposed to be refunded back to me. Called multiple times and wasn't efficiently helped until today 10/13, over two months later and there's still not telling when I'll get my money. They're so quick to take your money to put a credit on your account but all of a sudden it's a problem when they owe you money. This place needs better management. read more

WHERE IS THE OPTION FOR ZERO STARS?!!!??!! When I first moved in someone's old trash and clothes littered the place. Paint and carpet was disgusting, even after explaining that to them when I moved in... they did nothing about it and only said we are sorry. ( then proceed to charge me for damages as soon as I moved out) I do not recommend anybody stay here, management is absolutely terrible. They forget their own lies and always try to change stories. TERRIBLE apartment complex. Having parents who manage their own residential property's this place is very unprofessional. Moved from La 2 years ago and have had nothing but bad experiences here. From the hidden mold behind the stoves to the broken in vehicles and the multiple property managers over the years who all have ZERO communication skills. While in the process of moving here locals and students told me not to move here dispute seeming like the best quality in town for the price. Wrong. I had a recked car on their property since December and it was towed recently. Apparently a "old employee" told management that I was gonna move the truck back in December so they moved it off their property last week. Nothing was noted from that "old employee" in their system and I was NEVER contacted about the truck within these 5 months. I now have $500 less in my college pockets. As the first place that I moved into after I moved out of my parents house: this was my absolute biggest mistake and worst experience I will probably ever have. Don't listen to what people advertise, everything that you read is a gimmick. First of all, their prices are absolutely ridiculous for the incredibly bad conditions that you have to live in, and very much targeted towards college students that have little to no money. Imagine having mold growing in your bathroom where the water evaporates up from your shower, and instead of fixing the problem, they have maintenance cover it with paint. Imagine living in an apartment so horribly built, that you can hear every, AND I MEAN EVERY little thing that your roommate next to you does. Imagine being terrified every night that your vehicle could be broken into because that's happened a lot and Legends doesn't have ANY cameras on the apartments at all whatsoever and the "gates" that they have stay open all night and day. Imagine wanting to go to the nice saltwater pool and seeing people every day that don't live there or pay any rent swim there and leave their trash.. heck, imagine stepping on glass inside the pool because it wasn't cleaned well enough since who knows when. Lastly.. imagine needing to move to a different location and being told to look for someone to take your place in your room so you could break your lease, not being able to find anyone, and telling the people in the front office this information. Then you are told "oh no that's okay we can find someone no problem!" (Mind you, there are different employees practically every month at this point, so no information told to you gets documented) Imagine believing all of this and moving out and getting a HUGE fee months later because apparently they didn't put someone in your place until 2 months later when everyone knows how badly people are trying to get into these apartments for some reason. This has been a nightmare and I regret ever moving into these apartments in the first place. Please don't live here, the location is convenient and thats the only beneficial thing about this garbage place. read more

I do not recommend this place at all if I could give Zero stars I would. They only thing provided here is a roof over my son's head but other than that this place is nasty. The rooms they showcase to prospects are nothing compared to what they actually give our children. The rooms were nasty they do not clean them at all before someone new moves in. It shouldn't matter if someone was currently living in another room the whole place should be cleaned when a new tenant is moving in regardless. My son's room had stains on every wall including his personal room and clmmom shared areas. Hair and bugs were all over the place. Bathroom light fixtures broken. Just Filthy. They tried to make it right by painting all over the walls but that was it. See pictures provided. The only excuse to the Filth they could give is we are under changing new management wow really. Then they add secret fees in addition to rent for electricity saying it went over. My son lived here out of the 6 minth lease only for about 25 days max because it was so nasty and not livable. The policy is ridiculous. Once you moved in to an apartment, you are stuck in that unit. They don't let you move to another unit with your friend or upgrade to another unit (For example you want to upgrade to 2-room instead of 4 room-unit). Once you choose to stay at Legends, you are stuck there unless you move out. Have you ever lived anywhere that you want to upgrade to a better living condition and they don't let you? How ridiculous is that? And if nobody move in, that is a loss not a gain. I could not understand!!! I've never ever seen such a ridiculous policy, out of hundreds of people, only 5 people a year get to transfer if they want to!!!!!! read more

Worst apartment experience ever. I was charged extra for rent and they weren't able to give me my money back for THEIR MISTAKE. For my second apartment, they kept changing my move in date, but failed to change the date on the lease I signed, so now they are kicking me out for, once again, THEIR MISTAKE. Not mine. They know that kingsville only has a few living options so they take advantage of the students needing a place to live. I would do anything in your power to avoid this place. It's disappointing to see how they abuse their power and falsely accuse tenants of certain things. They constantly change management but it never seems to improve. You can either have a somewhat good experience or a horrible experience. First they don't actually listen to complaints, my roommates & I constantly complain on the upstairs people since they always through parties, play loud music in the middle of the night and don't take care of their dog & you can heart it crying like it's going to die. Maintenance doesn't do a very good job either they always come fix stuff but won't leave a note (of what they did) when they're supposed to. They also do a very sloppy job. I put a maintenance request since the room next to mine was leaking water from it's shower & was getting my carpet wet. Legends did nothing but send some college students to see the problem then my maintenance request was cancelled. Also they come into your apartment at 8pm at night without a notice & when you complain they say they can come in any time (contract states at a reasonable time) & they said a notice was put in everyone's door which was not. I called & manager Brianna stated the above & did not do anything to help me but say they could go into my room whenever they felt like it. read more

There was a lot of hassle with move-in due to poor communication and buildings not being completed on time. For building 5, none of the residents were aware of the building's incomplete status right up until we arrived at our scheduled move-in time. However, I believe Legends has worked hard on compensating for it and I appreciate their effort to make things fair, such as giving us a month's free rent and a $300 gift card, along with financially compensating us for staying elsewhere during the time we were displaced. They are also very generous with handouts in the lobby such as sodas, coffee, and candy. read more

Stay AWAY they don't care. EVERY month I pay OVER $150 for electricity bills for ONLY ONE BEDROOM. This is crazy even if I don't use anything I have to pay this amount. I even paid $86 for only 13 days during my first month of living here. Now, after 7 months I've paid over $1050 for electricity bills only. This is very expensive and I can't do anything about it. I've been living here since it's opening, and with construction still going on, it's still very dusty. Even inside of the apartment, dust builds up easily. When we moved in last year, it was a fiasco. On the move-in date, the apartment wasn't ready, and the building itself was still under construction. We had to find temporary housing, which was extremely stressful and inconvenient. This was done on our own, with no help or responsibility from the complex. However, now it's much more stable, with regular maintenance and pest control. Also, it's location is good, being near campus. As of this year, there is a new manager and I have to say living here has led to some very unfair and petty situations. Professionalism and friendliness are absent in management, which brings to light a very poor performance of leadership here. I believed things were finally improving but I have to say, it's disappointing to see that with a manager like that, there isn't much progress towards betterment here at this apartment complex. read more

The new manager here has made living in this apartment complex dreadful. There is constant harassment from her and when problems occur with the residents she has no problem accommodating to her needs but when it comes to the needs of the residents they don't get resolved. She has brought valid issues about a few residents failing to follow to the lease and her solution was to change the rules and by doing this has violated the current lease already signed by the residents who have been living here. By changing those rules she has violated our current lease and is very upsetting. The cost and harassment has lead this place to become difficult to feel comfortable and it comes to my attention that corporate need to be involved ASAP. read more

We have had nothing but problems since the day we moved in. Unit was not clean or ready for move in. Dog feces, empty pill bottles, trash, etc. in bedrooms. We have picture!!! Then it became a safety issue. Maintenance tried to enter the apartment unannounced many times. One time it was after 7:00 pm!!! The head of maintenance admitted this was a definite safety issue and a clear violation of safety policy. That didn't matter because it has continued for 8 months!!! The apartment had mold and caused my daughter to become ill and develop a cough that lasted for moths until we moved her out. The maintenance man that was with the company for over 20 years is no longer with the company after bringing the mold to their attention. How sad that he was let go for being honest!!! Then she got new roommates that smoked marijuana constantly. When we brought it to the attention of management, they said there was nothing they could do. Gary, the manager, said "they're college students!!! Just accept that they smoke pot and deal with it!!" Carly offered us another room in a different unit. So we took her offer and moved my daughter. Then they started charging us all of these transfer fees for moving into the unit that they offered to get her away from the mess!!!! When we refused to pay all of the fees, Carly changed her story and said that she never offered any resolution to the problem. Which is even worse!!!!! Then we found out that they put all of the electricity overages on my daughter's account. We checked with the other roommates and they didn't receive any overage charges. We found out on Friday, that they have been applying her rental payments to their crazy fees that they decided to charge us, and now they want to start the eviction process because they said we owe $700 in rent. Which we have always paid on time and in full!!!! Of course we have sought legal counsel and are ready for the process to begin. But, it didn't have to be this way. We have offered to settle on an amount with them to clear it all up. But, they won't budge on their fees that we don't owe. You ABSOLUTELY CANNOT talk to anyone in a higher position than the office staff. And when you contact the management company home office number they literally have an answering machine. We've left numerous messages since September and they won't call us back. They have been through 3 managers in a year. Gary is the most recent one and he won't speak to us either!!! This place is dirty, unsafe, overpriced, and poorly managed. I understand now why they say they aren't at capacity and never will be. They always have vacancies!!! read more

Don't do it. The Legends at Kingsville is not a great place to live. Its still under all of this work and looks like horrible. I recently went in to see an apartment and they showed me the model which was extremely nice but when I saw my friends apartment who actually lives there, it was in bad shape. She hates being there and cant get out of her lease. She showed me all of these problems and I'm not down for that. It all just seems undone to plainly put it. She cant wait for her lease to end so we can find an apartment together and hopefully the one we get will be in better condition. I'm going to attend the university there next fall which is super nice on its own but this place does not help at all. So then my dad found this review online when we were looking at apartments in Kingsville and I couldn't help but laugh because it was so on point after I saw it in person. If I could give negative stars I would. The Legends at Kingsville has been my worst nightmare since moving to Kingsville. I was first told that I could not move into my apartment upon move in day. They couldn't even take the time to inform me a few days before to let me know what I was walking into. Then they place me in a hotel quite a distance from the school! I chose The Legends because I wanted to walk to school, instead I had to spend money on gas and I had to pay for all my unhealthy meal since I didn't have a kitchen in my hotel! I heard that other residents were placed at Newman Hall which is not half as nice and doesn't have a full kitchen either. I simply wanted to be close to campus and I kindly asked to be released from my contract, since I had already paid rent without setting foot in my apartment. The managers refused to speak with me, and the staff had poor communication skills. Upon moving into my apartment countless problems have continued to arise.
