    The bag of goods!

I needed to get a gift for my favorite 3.5 year old. I popped by the Lego store at Westfarms Mall to see if there's anything for him. The sales associate who came to help me, was super helpful. I wish I could remember her name. This store has everything for your Lego dreams. There's Duplos which are the larger legos for little hands. Everything comes with a suggested age on it. You can find Legos for any budget, and any age, everything isn't for kids, there are some exacting Legos with the suggested age of 18+. You can even get individual hair, shirt and hat pieces, if one of yours might be missing. I'm so glad I found the perfect gift for the boy who loves cars and loves to build!

The location in west farms mall is phenomenal. The staff is patient and friendly. One staff member actually played with my son and explained to me how to build a ring to encase the ninjago training toy. Being in this store makes me feel the joy and wonder of childhood. There were so many sets I wanted for myself. I highly recommend this location.

I don't see how you couldn't like a store dedicated to just Legos. I've taken my 6 year old here a few times & we will definitely return. The store is a bit small for my taste & can get cramped. All Legos are set up age accordingly which helps. Lots of Star Wars, Simpsons & Marvel/DC stuff. My son is obsessed with Minecraft & we picked up a set here but what they have rolled out so far is limited. There's a huge wall in back where you can take home individual Lego bricks as opposed to sets. Playing is encouraged but it's mostly limited to creating Lego people to take home. Lots of cool stuff for older kids (pushing 40 like me) like Ghostbusters & more archetictual Legos. But this store is more for the children. Kids will love it but parents might want to pass at the less than competitive prices. It's an experience children will love but you can get Legos cheaper & somewhere less cramped but it's worth the trip with your little ones.

    Awesome.

We were making our way through West Hartford when we stumbled across the River Bend Bookshop and just had to check it out. This shop is super cool looking because it's basically just inside of a small apartment. The shop itself has a cozy New England vibe and has a small to large section of pretty much every genre. Sadly, the horror section seems to be one of the smaller sections but hey, I don't live here, so clearly they know what their customers are looking for. Near the cash registers they have a nice selection of merch for the shop (sadly, no River Bend Bookshop Magnet) and a cool section dedicated to local authors and stuff like that. Overall, River Bend Bookshop is a super nice little book shop for the area and definitely a place worth checking out. Sadly, I didn't make a purchase on this trip because I can only fly back to LA with so much stuff, but I very much enjoyed checking this place out.

This place just has that cozy, local charm that you won't find at other bookstores. The selection is great, the prices are fair, and their selection of bookmarks is pretty amazing. Could'a left with ten, but I need to cut back.

A few weeks ago I was back in the nutmeg and when I realized I was in the area, I made it a point to check this shop out once again. Strange enough, I now live in Los Angeles so I frequent the SoCal locations when I can and was stoked to see what this one had to offer. This shop has some arcade machines in the front, a very solid movie selection, retro toys for sale, and of course, a bunch of retro video games, accessories, and consoles to pick up if thats what you need. My current "looking for" list is pretty much just Gamecube games and Criterion Blu Rays, so I was super stoked to stumble across a copy of The Graduate when I didn't see any Gamecube games I was looking for. Like all retro stores, prices here can vary and can sometimes be good and sometimes be bad, things were pretty reasonably prices on this trip and I left a happy camper. Overall, Retro Games Plus is one of the better game stores in Connecticut and thanks to Game Exchange becoming a slop factory, definitely the best in this area. The staff here is knowledgable, the selection is great, and even if you can't find a game, you are sure to find something else when you stop by.

They also sell shirts mimicking nostalgia. They even have arcades that are blast from the past that patrons come to play classic games on. Arthur is a good guy. They may not have many video games from some video game consoles to sell but they have everything. They do have cool GameCube controllers here. Movies are really pricey though. They don't have too many kids films but those shelves are filled with mainly feature films for everyone of all ages. I like Retro Junk in Manchester better just because they have some really cool stuff that I think are eye appealing and are fun to browse there plus DVDs are somewhat cheaper there.

Every candy here is curated from all over the world. You can find amazing Swedish candies to Italian hard candies. Everything is so organized and so fun to look at! It was so fun to ask questions about where all the candy comes from and even try a piece to see what to get! You can scoop your own bag and feel all the nostalgia or buy a prepared bag or individual pieces. There is so much to choose from it can definitely be overwhelming but the woman at the counter was so patient with us and gave us some really awesome suggestions! My daughter loved their play station and it was a serious relief she was occupied with that so I could focus on finding some goodies for the fam. We opted for a variety of their sour Swedish candy and a bag of Italian hard candies. We even got this gigantic gummy worm and my daughter was just mesmerized at us pulling it out of the container! Though it's definitely pricey you are getting high quality candy from all over the world. This shop is incredibly unique. You do get a discount if you shop at their bakery first so definitely do that because I'm telling you are about to spend a lot because everything is just so good! Definitely will be here again!

BouNom Emporium is a small candy shop, offering candy from around the world from Sweden, UK, Spain, and more. There is an awesome variety of gummy candy that you can scoop into your own bag. Raspberry Lemonade Skulls, Watermelon Gummy Sharks, Pineapple Grapefruit Rings, and other fun flavors and shapes. If you love Peach Rings, you would literally be a kid in a candy store here. My husband likes this kind of gummy candy and hand picked a few different types for him to try. Since I visited around Halloween, there were a lot of fun Halloween shapes like vampire teeth and candy corn. I was also really excited to find the Sakura Matcha Pocky. They also had some of my favorite Kit Kats too. This place is truly unique and I haven't been to another candy shop like it. I loved the fact that they weren't wall to wall full of candy because it gets overwhelming. I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the Avon ares.
