We had a good time. We got there an hour early to get food and find close parking. Tried the famous burgers. My husband loved it, I thought it was ok. The performances by everyone were fun! The drone show was really neat for our first time. Bathrooms were fairly clean. The seating is very tight! So many people getting up and down all night that I felt like I was constantly interrupted by someone trying to squeeze by. I wish the stadium seating had more space in between the people in front and back. Long legged people have a tough time. read more

Such a fun rodeo!!! We went on Family Night this year, and were thoroughly entertained through all the events and comedic acts. My favorite was the wild mustang riding! Both times I've gone to the rodeo, there was a motocross event included at the end. It was so cool (and scary!!!!) seeing the bikers do crazy flips on their bikes. One of the best parts of the rodeo is the rodeo burgers. They're $4 at the concession stands, and they hit the spot every time. (you'll probably want to get 2 of them!). They also have hot dogs, nachos, snow cones, frozen bananas, and drinks. The reason that this review is 4 stars instead of 5 is the sound level. It was SO LOUD. I brought out my decibel meter app (because I'm that nerdy), and the peak dB level was 107 dB with an average of 93. (The average person can only be exposed to a sound louder than 100 dB for 15 minutes before causing damage to the ear according to NIOSH standards.) The sound level was actually very painful. As I looked around, I saw lots of people plugging their ears. Afterward, everyone in our group complained of ringing ears. Make sure you bring ear plugs so you don't have to make your own out of a tissue like I did! read more

Great family fun night at this annual rodeo. It was our first time at a rodeo and we loved it. My toddler even stayed still for the 2 hours. So many different events, it went by fast: barrel races, bull riding, bronco riding, roping, and more. There was food and toys sold as well. Book tickets fast b/c it sells out all 3 nights! If you want a seat near front, opt out of automatic seat selections when booking online. Choose your own seats and view the different sections. read more

On July 4th I got to attend the Oakley Rodeo! This was so much fun! My family goes every year and…read morethey didn't think it would happen this year cause of COVID-19. What they did this year is everyone bought tickets and they did a lottery system to see who could possibly attend. They only allowed about 1,500 people into the venue and they normally allow around 5,000 people. This was great and made it pretty easy to social distance from the crowds. They also provided every person a bandanna face covering to wear while at the rodeo which was super nice touch! I also noticed tons of cleaning going on during the rodeo by staff members. They were wiping down hand rails and high touch points to make it even safer for guests. Also, upon entrance every person had their temperature taken to make sure they didn't have a fever. This Rodeo did it right and make sure everyone had a safe and enjoyable time! Once inside the rodeo they had several food trucks serving some delicious eats. My family took advantage of the bbq food truck to get burgers and ribs and the Hot dog food truck to get nachos and hot dogs! The food was a little expensive, but it was well worth it. I loved the rodeo. But there are a few sports that happen that really look painful to the animal. It may not be painful, but it sure looked that way. The Cows run out and the horse follows them and a guy rope ties their neck hoping they fall over, but if they don't flips them on the side and ties their feat. I mean kinda crazy, but I understand this is what was done in the West so people could get their cattle back. Just an interesting sport. Overall though all the other competitions were pretty cool. My favorite was the bull riding! It was so much fun and the bulls seemed crazy tough! Overall I am glad I got to go to the Oakley Rodeo. I am glad they had fireworks after the rodeo and we got to celebrate the 4th of July with family and friends in a fun safe setting. I would highly recommend this!

This is the most pathetic excuse for a rodeo I have attended…read more Between the self proclaimed 'rodeo entertainer' who is loud and annoying and a tremendous time waster, and the poor announcer who thinks insulting and crude is good entertainment, we are at + 1 hour and have only seen a couple actual events. If you have to constantly ask for clapping, stomping etc, maybe you should try giving the slim crowd something to actually cheer. Only a few successful runs in the 2 events and we are finally up to team roping with 1 out of 4 successful. And back to bs wasting time.

Hopefully the owners running these businesses will notice and do better, as it really isn't right to run a business so shamefully! Sadly the poor locals have no choice in Evanston, so they have to put up with all of these unethical practices! As a business owner myself I regularly hold Staff Meetings, so my employees know exactly how to do their job, how to troubleshoot, be efficient, I am able to maximize productivity and morale! This doesn't seem to be the case here!

There were lots of vendors with unique offerings, but I'm not sure it felt especially "urban." The music and entertainment on the two stages were more what I expected-hip hop performers, dancers and artists. I would have loved to see more street performers outside the main stages. The food trucks were sparse-I think there were four in total. Everything was just smaller than I'd hoped it would be. Maybe I'm just comparing it to the much larger arts festival and hoping it would be more like that. Maybe in time. Although I do appreciate that it's free to get in.

To be honest, I call this Annoying-Leave-An-Extra-Hour-To-Get-To-Work-Day, as a large chunk of downtown gets blocked off. I've had experiences like nearly having a head-on collision with a massive T-Rex float and having too walk miles to work, hurdling sleeping bags along the way. But, I digress. Locals love the event. They love it so much that whole families camp out overnight for primo spots on the route. The parade usually starts at South Temple and State Street at 9 a.m. It runs east to 200 East, turns south to 900 S., and finally turns East to 600 E. (Liberty Park). As someone who has been to the Tournament of Roses Parade, this is a pedestrian affair in comparison. Out-of-towners will likely feel the same way, as the parade is very vanilla, with little that will offend or shock. The consequence of that is there is very little that inspires or awe-strikes. Still, it has a good local flavor, some of the thematic floats are exceptional, and the crowd brings the noise and energy. Even watching the cleaning crew parade after is interesting. An hour after, there is neither hide nor hair nor fleck of trash left behind.
