During the consultation, I was told my natural root color was already the perfect shade for what I was going for. However, a root smudge was applied that made my roots noticeably darker than my natural color, and the bleach was brought very close to the root. This resulted in a much higher-contrast look than what I requested, and not the soft, blended, lived-in blonde I was going for. I understand that a root smudge can come out a little darker, but I don't understand why a root smudge was done, or why bleach was put so close to my roots when I specifically asked for it to gradually fade. Now it's much darker roots and a harsh line. I'm disappointed, especially because I specifically asked to keep my natural root color. I feel like this was done in order to charge the client more. I would recommend having a detailed consultation and clarifying exactly how close to the root lightener will be applied before starting.

I googled for a natural hair salon near my address in Peachtree Corners and found The Silk Bar. It had a good review and a beautiful website, so I was sold. Before, I went to two Dominican salons in my neighborhood for a consultation and just was not satisfied with the answers and service that I received. I understand COVID social distancing and even a minor language barrier, but I did not feel that welcomed at either salon. So I traveled right on to Roswell Rd. and I am so happy that I did! I was given a walk-in consultation and was warmly greeted by the owner, Patrice. Patrice is literally a ray of sunshine! She made me feel welcomed, comfortable, and gave me the individual service that I needed because I had questions and was in the market for a permanent salon. Not to mention, the salon was new, clean, beautifully decorated, and there was nice music to set the ambiance. The second stylist, Nia, who is young and talented, was slaying another client's hair; but Patrice brought me right in, sat me down, ask me about my hair goals and where I was currently in my hair journey. She explained to me how the Silk Bar has specials for folks like me, who want to be repeat clients. I was so excited to come back the next day. I arrived and learned that Patrice had written a personalized analysis for me and my hair goals! She provided products that were tailored just for my hair and scalp. These are vegan, sulfate free, and paraben-free products, which catered to my health-conscious side. Nia made me feel very comfortable and assured me that "it was my time to be pampered." She gave me the New Client Silk: detangling, a tingly shampoo with a little scalp massage, (where I fell asleep at the bowl,) blow dry, shaping cut, press, style. Patrice came and chatted with me and she feels like a long lost friend. Midway through, I just kept repeating how happy I was to have found them. I really felt like my hair needs were catered to. After our impromptu photo shoot, it started raining pretty heavy, so Nia pin curled my hair and wrapped it up. I purchased a hair product and received some free samples too. I left beautiful and relaxed too! I would advise all of you to come visit Silk Bar and get pampered. I hear that it is expanding to a city near you!
