July 2022 we were involved in a wreck at McDonald's on 15th & Lockheed. We had already pulled 3/4 out of a parking spot & a lady in a jeep came flying into the entrance on lockheed with her turning north when entering. She smashed our back passenger bumper, and tail light. Margaret (lady who hit us) got out of her car and started apologizing say that she was so sorry, her son is in the hospital & her mind wasnt in the right place. We couldn't call the cops because it was on private property. So there was no police report. We exchanged info with Margaret & she offered to pay for a new tail light for us from the scrap yard. We asked her if we called our insurance would she let them know she took blame. She agreed. We leave, file our claim online, the online claims told us that they are calling it as our fault. My husband calls Mike. All Mike says is claims said it's your fault so that's what we have to go with... We were told no one called in on Margaret side. And we decided that we only wanted liability since paying $130 a month for full coverage turned out to be the biggest scam. Fast forward to 04/2023. I go to check my bill for May, It was $87, when the last 6-7 months it had been $41. For the 6 months it still showed $516. So I call Mikes office asking what was going on. Lady told me that it went up 40% for the wreck in July... Then come to find out Margaret had filed a claim for the wreck, she LIED to the insurance company & told them she was in the drive thru & we hit her. State Farm believed her. She wasn't even a State Farm customer. So when we found this out, we decided to drop State Farm since our car isn't even working. They say they will and called it Kosher... WRONG! I get a call Back from Mikes office with the lady I had been talking to. She tells me that if I shut my insurance off, they will freeze my parents insurance. And that because I live at my parents address that I can freely take the keys to their cars... even after both of my parents swore that wouldn't happen. The lady kept insisting that I would have opportunities to TAKE my parents keys and go joy riding. We had to suspend our insurance just so they won't cut my parents off.. The worst part is they are raising my parents insurance because ours is suspended. So now that State Farm has painted me out as a liar, they are making me look like a thief. I wasn't going to make a review until they insinuated that I am a thief. So with all this being said, I wholeheartedly DO NOT recommend State Farm period for any sort of insurance.

I don't think it would be wise for him to accept new clients. Several disappointing things happened in this experience. It started off with my dropping off my tax documents in February. His front office staff contacted me soon after to tell me that only $2,500 of deductions would be applied for the 2022 instead of $98,000 because they didn't understand how long term capital gains taxes work! This issue was fixed but it stressed me out thinking it wasn't going to be right because I had to explain it to them. Jay left off thousands of dollars in deductions on charitable donations which he had the receipts for and which were included in an orderly fashion. It was fixed when I pointed it out but I FOUND the issues myself. Why am I paying an accountant to make HUGE financial mistakes? The difference in my tax bill had I not found the mistakes was roughly $1500 that I would owe (between federal and state!) That's significant!!!! Several times in the process, I'd ask a question and he'd meet with me a..."this form would need to be filled out. Do you want me to fill it out?" Well...I want you to fill out whatever necessary forms need to be filled out! Considering this is your job, you should know the proper forms and make it happen. Never have I ever had to tell my accountant what form I want them to fill out. With my previous accountant, he would call me to go over things to make sure we were on the same page and to clear up any issues. I only changed from him because 1) he was scared of Covid and didn't want to meet in person and 2) he had made a few errors. But goodness, at least he was quick to call me, apologize, and immediately fix the issue. Well, I sent Jay an email asking if we could go over it since he wasn't there when I picked it up the first time. To which he responded "he's just too busy this time of year to meet with people." Yet, he wasn't too busy to send me a $650 invoice for an incorrect tax job. $50 of this invoice was for a meet & greet where he basically sold himself to me on how aggressive he is and how he will ask all of the right questions, etc. Mind you during the actual process, I had to ask ALL of the questions, find the mistakes, and basically do the work. It was an expensive fee for very little communication (emails could go a week without being answered), very few of my questions being answered, errors galore, and a 2 month long tax process. In the end, he did make the changes but it was not an efficient process. We had to pick up our documents twice since they don't do anything electronically either. It was the most expensive accountant bill that I ever received, with the least amount of work done. And, I received my corrected taxes back 2 days before the deadline. Talk about stressful. I would have been better off using Turbo Tax and doing it myself. This was an expensive lesson learned!

There were a couple of hurdles to overcome: 1) We are not fans of e-filing; Robin will bowl you over with reasons why you should. 2) She wants your paperwork in by the first week in March -- preferably February! Some of our documentation isn't in our hands by that time, so we had to have her file for a Late Filing Extension -- something we'd never done before. Through it all, Robin was patient in her explanations and believable in her assurances. We were pleased with her work effort and that of her courteous staff. We'll be back next year -- in February!
