Despite my response, she asked me three separate times what I was doing in the store, and I gave her the same answer each time. I noticed that no other customers were being treated this way. Later, when I returned to the people I was with, the same woman brought another employee over to question me again. I ultimately left the store to avoid being repeatedly questioned. Their behavior felt disrespectful, targeted, and microaggressive, and it made me very uncomfortable. As a woman of color, I'd prefer you'd not go.

My criteria was the following it had to be a black or grey. had to have a zip top must have outside pockets for keys and cell phones and subway passes wide enough to fit my laptop but not so wide I look like a bag lady made of something durable but still nice enough to take to the office. I came in on a whim and found a tote that was marked $400 and for some reason that particular day all the men's section was 50% off. So it would be $200...sweet...but as they were looking for a new one for me to take home....the one I was looking at was the store model....we realized they were all out of black, Only the brown was available....In the end they agreed to sell me the floor model for $100. Not a bad deal. I was happy and use it every day. It's very handy for travel because I can use it as a purse+ carry on. No need to lug around another suit case.... This week, I made it my mission to find myself my first authentic one as an adult! Immediately, I remembered Laredo. I work as a Costumer in the Film & Television Industry, and years back, I used to assist a beloved Costume Designer on shopping trips to Plaza Fiesta. Since I had the day off, I decided to come in with my boyfriend. The shop is just as I remembered--filled with lots of great pieces. They have an assortment of price ranges, which is great, and everything is good to excellent quality! Jose, the lovely salesman who assisted us, was fantastic! He was so kind, personable, and helpful. He even measured my head so I would know what my size was (surprisingly, I had never done it myself), and used a hook to bring down the options I was looking at. Some I found to be a little out of my desired price range, so when I humbly informed him of this, he politely guided us over to other options that were more in my budget. I ended up leaving with the perfect first hat for me. Jose told me that if I come back with my receipt, on weekends, they have a man who comes in to shape the hats to your desired shape based on the chart provided, and do a cleaning too, complimentary for first(?) purchases. I look forward to coming back and buying more things! I've already got an ongoing list!
