My son was going to forfeit prom because the buttons on his jacket were popping off the day of prom. My son said Mr. Hu was kind, but he was no help when I explained what happened... and we paid 758.00 for that suit. I would not recommend. TRIO Custom Clothiers sells custom men's suits and dress shirts at affordable prices. The store had its grand opening in March 2013, but the company has been around longer than that. I first heard about TRIO in 2012 from a friend and coworker. He was a groomsman in a wedding party outfitted completely in custom suits made by TRIO. It wasn't until recently that I started shopping for a new suit and decided to stop by TRIO's Midtown showroom. Entering only with the intention to browse, I ended up ordering a 3-piece suit before I walked out of the store. It didn't take me long to get sold. I shopped for suits at Brooks Brothers and the recently-opened SuitSupply in Buckhead. All of the suits I found looked great, but TRIO had by far the best deal. An off-the-rack Brooks Brothers suit is anywhere from $700 to $1,000. Most off-the-rack Suitsupply suits start around $500. Suitsupply's custom suits easily reach upwards of $1,000+. I also looked online at Indochino, but I was hesitant to order a custom suit online without seeing and feeling the fabric firsthand. At TRIO, custom suits start at only $399 for a 2-piece suit and $474 for a 3-piece suit. At those prices for a suit that is tailor-made to fit you and only you, why would you go anywhere else? Co-founder Mike Hu helped me through the entire ordering process. The environment was laid back yet sophisticated and unpretentious. I don't know much about suits or men's fashion, so I relied on Mike to guide me on style and fit. I wanted a basic grey suit. He measured me in great detail and then went over my fabric and style options. The process did not take long and I could tell Mike and his business partner Ben McMillan knew their stuff. I ended up getting a slim fit suit. The jacket has narrow lapels, double vents, and functional sleeve buttons. Most off-the-rack suits have non-functional buttons on the sleeves to allow for alterations (e.g. changing the sleeve length). Since TRIO's suits are custom-made for each customer, the buttons actually work and aren't purely for decoration -- a sign of a well-made suit. The pants are flat front and the material of the suit is a wool blend. 100% English, Italian, and Hong Kong wool is also available. The customization options seem endless and quite frankly, if you don't know exactly what look you're going for, can be overwhelming. Mike has great attention to detail. The suits are made in China. Two weeks after placing my order, the suit had arrived to the store, ready for me to try on. A couple tweaks were needed so the suit had some final (complimentary) alterations made. A week later, I went back to the store to try on the finalized suit. It was perfect. The last step was a complimentary delivery to the dry cleaners, which TRIO does for every suit. I liked the look and fit of the suit so much that I ordered another one (in navy) before leaving the store. It's on its way. On my most recent visit, Mike told me shipping times have improved, so by the time you read this review, the suits may be getting to the store even faster than the two-week time window I experienced with my first suit order. Once your measurements and payment information are stored with TRIO, it's very easy and convenient to make new orders. Since the business is small, the service is personalized. They remember their customers. The same cannot be said for the big stores. I love the look of my new 3-piece suit and look forward to opportunities to wear it. I wore it to the symphony over the weekend and received so many compliments in person and online (from photos). Much more than I ever expected. It validated my decision to order from TRIO. TRIO also sells accessories like pocket squares, ties, cuff links, and tie bars. I picked up a pocket square. It was totally worth it. Also, name embroideries inside the suit jackets are available for only $25 ($10 for shirts). I am getting my suits embroidered. You don't have to get a full suit. You can order pieces a la carte. The prices are the same either way. TRIO's clothing is meant to be versatile. The suit pants, jacket, and vest can be worn independent of each other. I plan to use my suit jackets as blazers/sportcoats as well. The store is located at the corner of 14th Street and State Street, just south of Atlantic Station. The storefront is not visible from the street. It's in the same building as Moe's BBQ. Just pull into the parking lot in the back and you'll find it. There's nowhere else in Atlanta like TRIO. So here's the deal, Love the idea and staff of this shop but I'm not so impressed by the clothing. I bought a jacket and shirt from Trio and the jacket doesn't fit as well as I had hoped. Kind of old school boxy lookin with shoulder pads. I was hoping for a snug slim modern casual fit. It wasn't terrible. Just not for me. In the time between ordering this jacket and picking it up, I found Suit Supply over by Lennox mall and and found my style and fit there. If you're a medium to slim build, I suggest checking there first. If you want a traditional style with a bit of a tailored look, Trio is your spot. The good points were the staff and the concept.. there's just a cool factor to picking every detail and knowing that your clothes are custom made for you. Also, I really like the shirt. The fit is much better than the jacket and SUPER comfortable. It's a stretchy silky fabric and I chose to add a contrasting fabric to the inside of the collar and cuffs. Overall: 3.6out of 5 for me. Your mileage may very on liking the cut on jackets... I say, give them a shot. Nothing about the experience was bad, just not the end result I'm looking for. Classy! This custom clothier makes awesome men's suits and dress shirts. My husband has become a serious fan, and he just keeps coming back for more. This is now his go to place for high quality dress shirts and suits that fit right. When you first arrive for your appointment you are measured and the folks have a very serious convo with you about fit and details. Then you pick out your fabrics and all the other little details (lapels, cuffs, linings) that make a suit or shirt. They even have samples of different fabrics available so you can check the color and thickness or softness of a fabric before making your selection. Once you've placed your order they make your suits/shirts. At the time of pick up, you can try on your goods and they will still make alterations as needed. Oh and did I mention the prices are comparable to store-bought-non-custom suits and shirts? Yea. Boom! PS they also sell ties, pocket squares, and other suit-y accessories. read more

My husband custom made a suit for our wedding and several others for work. Unfortunately, the quality of the fabric is not as great as ones you can buy from Jcrew, Nordstrom etc. He wears his sutis often and the fabric doesn't hold well after a few months. If Trio can provide fabric with better quality, then it would be a great buy! It may be better for you to buy from Jcrew or other department stores and have it tailored. read more

I wanted to hold off on writing a review, because even though their clothes aren't that well made and have no longevity, I respect what they're trying to do and was hoping my experiences weren't representative of their overall quality. However, today they sold my personal email address, and presumably their other clients, to sign me up for some hotel discount website without my knowledge, consent, or even remote desire for them to do so. So here we go The suits are "custom" in the sense that they come from overseas in a way that nowhere near resembles the measurements they took in store. Then, you come back in to make "minor adjustments" to this monstrosity they call made-to-measure. I was very specific about things like no break on my pants, 14 inch opening at the bottom of the legs, etc. When I came in for the so-called minor adjustments, it fit like a tent. Afterwards they did tailor it so it fit fairly well, but I felt duped. You're basically getting an off the rack suit and then they tailor it to your measurements, no different than buying from a cheap department store then having alterations done (which I would suggest over coming here) The longevity? I have about 15 suits that I rotate, and I don't wear a suit but three days a week. The wool is garbage to begin with, but now the buttons will fall off until you replace their cheap threading. Their shirts are even worse, I probably have the buttons replaced every fourth time they're taken to the cleaners, not to mention the stray threads. Finally, they then go and sell your information for other companies to market totally unwanted services on your behalf. Truly ridiculous. If you respect decent menswear, quality, and/or ethical business practices, you'll find a MTM suit elsewhere. UPDATE: Don't listen to the owner that responded to me. A year later and I'm still getting emails from this hotel site that they signed me up for without my consent, because someone that came to them for a suit CLEARLY also wants hotel savings for my corporate travel /s. This is a review from a female's perspective: My fiance usually buys suits and has to have them majorly taken in due to his broad shoulders but decided for our wedding he wanted a bespoke suit. We live in Columbus so I was with him at the appointment since we decided we'd drive up and spend the weekend in Atlanta. First off, it was so nice being greeted and even though we were early he apologized for being busy and said he'd be right with us. After he was done with his current client he immediately started talking to my fiance about what he wanted and honestly, making the experience fun for him (which made me happy). We're both pretty low-key, generally jeans & tee people but a wedding is a great excuse to get fancy and plus, this was kind of a treat for him. He very informative and never made me feel dumb for asking questions and seemed to actually enjoy them. Both of us ended up learning a lot and it's the first time Matt is confident a suit will actually fit him correctly. Plus, honestly, the cost of what he's getting wasn't bad AT ALL. TRIO Custom Clothiers is probably the most popular M2M (made to measure) store in Atlanta (bespoke is different). This store offers intimate one-on-one assistance. Aka, it feels like a bridal boutique, but for men. I believe Trio is popular because of the following: 1. Price- Competitive and affordable compared to OTR which would still require alterations which still cannot compared to how comfortable and flattering a M2M suit feels and looks. $500 basically for a 2 piece wool suit if I rememeber correctly with alterations included and expedited shipping. 2. Fast turn over time- You can get a suit made in 4-5 weeks if rushed (you do have to pay more- slightly) from initial fitting and measurements to the post followups for alteration tweaks (total of 3 visits usually first time around and 2 after since you do not need an initial fitting). And since its not bespoke, the turnover time is faster if you have no patience like me or in a rush for an event. 3. 100% wool option - Most popular now a days (I think they have cashmere/wool blend to) 4. Lots of choices of fabric, colors of fabrics, and cuts/fit to base your suit on. 5. Great in person customer service- I love working with Theresa! I love also the privacy and luxury of the 1 on 1 assistance. Even with indochino its M2M but you always have to tweak the clothing once received where here it is included. 6. Suits photograph very well- see pic 7. Comfort- M2M is more comfortable than OTF because it will fit you better than OTF ever will. Especially for guys with wierd measurements. * I would recommend offering better quality options like bespoke and italian wool for those who are willing to pay for it :) I highly recommend this place and will be back for more great pieces to add to my hubbys collection :) read more

I'd strongly recommend *not* going with TRIO custom clothiers for suiting. Rather, I'd strongly suggest going to either a J Crew (https://www.jcrew.com/mens_feature/TheSuitShop.jsp) or Brooks Brothers (http://www.brooksbrothers.com/mens/suits/0216,default,sc.html) for suits, and taking them to a competent tailor (not TRIO) for alterations. Yes, made-to-measure suits are great; unfortunately, TRIO makes poor made-to-measure suits that end up falling apart after a few months of use. I wish I could say positives about shirting -- Banana Republic, Club Monaco, and Brooks Brothers all offer options that are both less expensive and higher quality. The shirting at TRIO is probably the worst part of their business. I worked with Mike, who took my measurements - these suits were for an internship at a hedge fund in Chicago. The process went smoothly, and I received my suits on time. The lining on one of my suits was incorrect... I was a little annoyed by this, but no big deal, really. I also purchased 5 shirts, and Mike kindly threw in another shirt because of the lining error. Mike was initially very kind throughout the process, answering all my questions. Fast forward two months. *Both* suit pants developed tears near the lower thigh area. At least 1 button came off of each of 3 of the 5 shirts (I hand-wash my dress shirts). When I returned to Atlanta and showed the shirts and suits to Mike, he apparently had a "long day" and shouted at me, saying that the shirting mishaps were minor issues that happened to all shirts. He also admitted that the quality of the shirting was very cheap, as they charged much lesser than companies like Brooks Brothers or even Banana Republic. Mike later texted me with an apology for shouting at me. I really regret buying my shirts here -- I didn't know about Banana Republic's shirts at the time, but they cost lesser and are **substantially** higher quality. My TRIO shirts sort of falling apart right now, and feel like sandpaper. I'm attached to them though, because they landed me my first real job out of school and I wore one to my wedding. What about the suit pants then? Mike said that the tailor who stitched my pants had just started, which is why they tore. He showed me where the sewing machine skipped on the stitching for both pants. No clue as to how it skipped near the same place on both pants, but okay... fine. I gave the suit pants back to Mike, who told me that he'd stitch them up for free. I come back two days later, and the suit pants had horrific stitching, with threads everywhere. I spoke with the seamstress who sewed the pants together; she said that the pants tore because I "must have put on about 30-40 pounds." (I'm a 6' 0" guy who has been anywhere between 150 and 160 pounds for the past 10 years). I sort of laughed, thinking it was a joke -- it was pretty apparent that she was being serious. Mike made no apology, and stated that he'd get the pants re-stitched by a "master seamstress" or something like that. Two days later, the pants looked fine, and I picked them back up. read more

Thank you fellow Yelpers for turning me on to this place!!! When I first saw a review on it - I thought, hmmm...is there a new Italian restaurant in Atlanta that I don't know about? No - custom mens clothing! I have been thinking about what to wear for my upcoming nuptials to my partner. We are not formal people but would like something nice for the special day (19 years later and running off to Maine since gay marriages are not legal in Georgia). Since we will be on the water in Maine for the ceremony, I thought that linen might be appropriate for the day. Trio has a super easy internet site to use and you can schedule your appointment online. Trio is right on 14th Street, just turn at the Jimmy John's sandwich shop and pull into the parking lot in the back of the shopping center. When we walked in we saw a small selection of fabrics to choose from. I thought to myself, oh that must be the "catch" - there are just so many fabrics to choose from. No matter, I found a nice linen that I liked for our pants. Then we started looking for fabric to go with our shirts (no we are not doing matchy-matchy outfits - that would really be gay!) I thought, well, there aren't many fabrics to choose from. Fret not! There were tons of books of swatches to look from! Benjamin had some great color suggestions based on the color of fabrics we chose for our pants. He pulled some swatches and eliminated the need to go through all the books. There are there if you want to go through all of them but since Benjamin narrowed the choices - why bother? So for the shirts, we had to choose collar type, front button style and type of cuffs. Oh here comes the "catch" again I thought to myself... But there was no "catch", there were no additional charges for our selections. The pants choices were nice and simple - pleats, no pleats and cuffs and no cuffs. My partner decided that he wanted a vest so he chose the same fabric of his pants but with a satin back rather than a solid one color and single fabric. Measurements were quickly taken and a quick photo for the tailor to see how we carry our bodies and to verify the measurements. Measurements, photo, fabric choices and what items we want made will be sent to China. I joked with Benjamin that won't the tailor/factory be surprised that they are making something for their own peep! Here is the cost breakdown: $49 for a shirt, $79 for a vest and $99 for pants. They can make tuxedos, suits and jackets too. About 4-5 weeks later, we received an email that it was time to come in for a fitting. Super easy to make an appointment as you can do it online too! Saturday morning parking was a little more of a challenge since there is also an Irish dance studio so all the lasses were dancing away. This time we were greeted by Elm and he greeted us by asking if we were his 11:00 appointment. We changed into our outfits that fit like a glove. Well, duh, it is custom made for you! Alterations? Please, not necessary in our case (I guess the diet isn't working since the waist for my pants did not need to be taken in) In conclusion, come on, where are you going to get a custom tailored pair of pants for 99 bucks? Even if you fine a nice pair of pants or a jacket off the rack, the alterations alone will make Trio a much better buy. I had a great experience at TRIO. I was married earlier this month and struggled to find a suit to fit my frame. My best bet was to find something off the rack and get it tailored to suit me. Mike and one of his master tailors did a great job. I'm a 5'2 woman. I am also a very heavy chested. I was very worried that my look wouldn't work. However, TRIO met my needs and much more. I had been looking at getting a tailor made suit for a while, and finally decided to move forward. I was never into formal wear, but I wanted something to make me look more successful/professional. I was looking to spend about a grand for a suit, so I did a search, and saw the good reviews from Trio. I got my suit back today, and I look like money! A nice suit really separates the boys from the men. All in all with accessories, I spent about $600! Now, I'm looking for reasons to go out and show off. What happened? I was a very satisfied customer for over two years. My last order was botched, then efforts to fix the initial problems were strung out over months. I heard every manor of excuse from "postural issues" to a change in their product provider. I finally took in a suit they made for me a couples of years back. It fits like a glove, but following three attempts and three appointments, the pants I had ordered fit so poorly I just left them there. By then, the amount of time wasted wasn't worth the savings. No refund and no pants. Again, what happened to this place. I have referred people to Trio in the past, but no more. Maybe it has changed hands or there is a new manager. I bought my first made-to-measure (MTM) suit from Trio last summer. I have always bought off the rack and this was my first experience with a MTM company so I decided to get it with all the premium options (100% wool, full canvas lining, working sleeve buttons, vest, etc). At the same time I ordered one of their MTM cotton blend shirts. The shirt fit was perfect and after a little finish tailoring (no charge) the suit became the nicest I have ever worn. Within a month I had signed up for their monthly club. After 4 months of enjoying this suit, I decided to get a second suit one. Mike and Theresa had dialed in a couple of measurements on the first suit and the fit of this suit was even better than the first (with no finish tailoring needed). I'm sure some finish tailoring is generally expected but I was very impressed and wanted to share the praise online. I recommend them without hesitation. If off-the-shelf fit has never matched your body type or you just want to see how a proper suit fits, go for the experience. I'm 6'8", so I can never find anything off the rack that looks right from a fit perspective. With Trio, I've gotten a suit and multiple dress shirts for the same price as off the rack clothing would cost. The only downside is that you don't get the immediate gratification as you would purchasing something in store. Once you get a few custom fit shirts, however, you won't go back to off the rack dress clothes. The show room is a great, relaxed environment and I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks! read more

I will have to say going here was a very underwhelming experience. A single employee for the entire store just doesn't make sense. So, as a walk-in just know that you will most likely be waiting and waiting for awhile. Also, a custom fitting does take around 45 minutes which wasn't explained until after we had already waited close to an hour. Unfortunately, had to leave because I ran out of time. Honestly, we really did wait way longer than we should have all the while without any extended apologies for the wait. There was another customer that walked in to reorder three shirts and after being told that he would need to wait, he waited for about 10 minutes but then just walked out. Uh oh. I agree that the price point is a strong appeal but felt service didn't match the experience they are trying to sell. Proper expectations of how to be serviced at Trio may have helped to ease the "experience" as a new customer. From what I observed though while waiting close to an hour, the individual helping the a soon to be bride and groom customer appeared to be knowledgable, patient, and thorough with the groom to be's needs. Just wish we had a chance to have that service too. I'm all about efficiency and definitely did not see that while observing the TRIO operations that hour. Also, the fitting and selection session with that couple that the employee was helping was way too long in my opinion. What if someone was coming during their work lunch break? There would be no way they could get their appointment done under an hour. Honestly, I feel if you have a brick and mortar set up with an "open" sign and a door that freely opens during their operation hours for all and anyone to come in then the experience for all customers would be aligned to any other custom alteration shop. I suggest if they want to drive an appointment only setup then get rid of the current set up. Include on the website and on the outside of the door that it's "appointment only." For people that may be coming across town to Trio, this small yet important detail could have saved us a long drive home without being helped as well as feeling like a part of a day was not wasted... read more

I am writing this review a few months after purchasing a suit and a shirt at Trio. In all, I am fairly satisfied with the experience. The suit fits much better than anything off the rack would (as you would expect from a made-to-measure garment), and it only needed some very slight alterations at my first fitting (the cost of which was included in the price of the suit). I appreciated the opportunity to pick the features of my suit (lapels, buttons, vents, pleats, cuffs, etc). The construction seems to be of fairly good quality. In all, I feel the suits are a very good value. Since I was there and they had my measurements, I decided to try one of their shirts as well. I went with a basic, white, cotton-blend shirt. The fit was great, but I was very disappointed with the fabric which was rough and incredibly prone to wrinkling. I steamed, ironed, and dry cleaned the shirt before my first wear and still couldn't get all the wrinkles out. I've worn it once and will probably not wear it again. Overall, I think the pros of the suit outweigh the cons of the shirt. Though I can't recommend their shirting offerings based off my experience, I will consider returning to Trio for my next suit. read more

Fantastic. This was my first time ever buying a suit and the staff could not have been more helpful. Mike did most of the work in measuring and advising me for my suit. Rest of staff were extremely smart, friendly, and professional. The turnaround was also pretty quick. I ordered expedited service and waited 1.5 weeks for the suit to arrive. When I found out there was a custom clothing shop just minutes around the corner from my house I was ecstatic. I am hard to find a shirt that fits reasonably well off the rack. Measuring process was meh. I was measured then was looking for help as to what colors would be decent on me. I was just handed the book and left to my own devices. Ok, there was someone else getting fitted whatever. Go to pick up my shirt and it was 2 inches too short. I wasn't even measured before i hit the door. Called to add 2 inches onto the next one and the person on the other end of the phone was just like ok (not oh is it not long enough). So i went in and they updated my size. Fast forward to the second fitting, (and i had been out of town so my workout routine was non existant) I tried it on. I could barely get the cuff closed on my right arm. The secondary on the arm wouldn't button either. The bicep of the shirt was obnoxiously tight. Could have gotten it fixed but didn't want to waste my time. Threw the shirt in the trash when I got home. I'm going off the rack and just tailoring the shirt. The biggest disappointment is that the owners just don't seem to care and are just there waiting for something idk what. They don't show up in suits even. read more

I got a suit here at Trio for my prom. Mike and Dom helped get my suit in when I needed it, with very quick alterations. I wasn't exactly sure which fabric to get so Dom helped me pick out one and I love it. I've never had a custom suit before and I am glad I decided to let Trio help me out.
