We rented two jet skis and a 14-person pontoon for a bachelorette party. Unfortunately, our…read moreexperience was disorganized from start to finish. The blonde employee at check-in was professional and attentive, but once we finished the paperwork, no one told us where to go. We were simply told that a young employee talking at the counter was our guide. We waited outside for about 10 minutes before I finally went back inside to ask where we were supposed to be, only to find he had already walked out a side door. During the boat inspection, the guide almost marked the propeller as undamaged despite obvious chunks missing from two of the three blades. We had to point out the damage so it would be documented before we left. Things became much more concerning once we got on the water. We were handed four life jackets for two jet skis, told to wear two of them, and assured the other two would be placed on the pontoon. They never were. Later, one member of our group became uncomfortable operating a jet ski in the busy, choppy water near Torch Lake and needed to switch with someone else. That's when we realized we had no spare life jackets on the pontoon. With nowhere safe to dock, someone had to move between the pontoon and the jet ski without wearing a life jacket. We were immediately stopped by law enforcement and cited. The officer also pointed out that one of the jet skis was missing required registration numbers. When we reached the sandbar, we discovered the pontoon only had two small anchors for a large boat in rough water, and one of the jet skis had no anchor at all. Someone from our group had to spend the afternoon babysitting the jet skis instead of enjoying the day. Given the water conditions, I'm not convinced the jet skis should have been rented out that day to inexperienced riders. We returned about an hour and a half early. The dock staff were rude, instructed everyone to leave their belongings on the boat during fueling, and then criticized my group for not having a payment method at the fuel dock because our wallets were still on the boat. I also went to the office to discuss the safety issues we experienced, only to find the front door locked and no employees inside. Between the missing safety equipment, questionable maintenance, poor communication, and unprofessional customer service, this was not the experience we expected. There are plenty of other marinas in the area, and I would recommend renting from one of them instead

We were staying at one of the Mushroom Houses, so we were able to stop by and visit the lighthouse area tons of times. It's adjacent to this wonderfully expansive beach and park area as well with playground items and just tons of shoreline to lay out and go rock hunting on! Plenty of space for all the activities! The lighthouse itself is out on the pier and is very stunningly painted fire engine RED! The pier is this rich blue as well, so the contrast is stunning and always makes for great photographs. There will be the occasional fisherperson parked on the pier just past the lighthouse too, but for the most part every time I've come out here it has been pretty empty and I just get the best photos! It's not the biggest nor most iconic lighthouse Michigan has to offer, but I love her a ton!

I want to make a wall collage of all the ones I've visited around the state from the tip of Copper Harbor off the shore of Lake Superior, all along the east shore of Lake Huron from Mackinaw down to Port Huron and the west shore of Lake Michigan from New Buffalo all the way up to Charlevoix. The Charlevoix Lighthouse is super cute, I love the red! It's not a huge Lighthouse, yet unique in its own way. We enjoyed hanging out at the pier, breathing in the fresh air, and watching a beautiful sunset on the horizon.

This was a Michigan Bucket List adventure for us! We both love breweries and going on adventures. If I set my mind to something, trust me, I will make it happen. Last year, I found out about Beaver Island and a little brewery located on it. Of course, I had to get there! lol I shared my findings with Partner In Crime and guess what....we chartered a flight to the island with Fresh Air! Wow!!! What an amazing experience! From the moment I called the great folks at this lovely airline it was the start of a chain reaction of amazing experiences. I'll be looking for excuses to fly with them again, if only all air travel were this great The owners and staff at each step from my confusion about anything Beaver Island (first visit) to scheduling, fares, parking arrangements, type of plane, weights, return travel (I wanted to take the ferry back as a part of my experience and they were so helpful in guiding me through things, genuinely great people) and even gave me many amazing suggestions and recommendations that were spot on. The entire team was friendly accommodating, had a sense of humor, and professional. The views were spectacular, the other passengers (they have great clients too, also locals, residents and regulars Likes attract Likes, right), and the pilot, despite how crazy busy they were, was enjoying himself and the gorgeous day, I can't say I blame him thanks to the folks here I have fallen in love with these little planes (they proved to me there was nothing to be nervous about, talk about a 360) and will find another excuse to take this airline around their service area. I also found out that I'm more impatient than I thought and the almost 3 hours boat ride back versus the views and thrill of the brief plane ride can't compare. They gave me 3 more hours to explore than I would've had otherwise to experience the island. I don't think I'll ever take the ferry again, I'm sold on this place and the all around experience and customer service you get.
