I was so impressed with On the Narrows Marina, they had helpful and friendly staff, rentals were in amazing condition, and I learned how to wake board! Neil was our instructor, and we all felt super safe with him, and he gave great advice on how to keep balance. Neil was patient with everyone, as we were all trying to wakeboard for our first time! Everyone got up with ease after a few tries, and it resulted from Neil's helpful guidance and instruction. Afterwards, we wanted to get a few snacks and drinks They had our order delivered to us from the dock in a matter of minutes. Let me preface this by saying my family has owned a place up in the Glen Arbor area for the past 19 years and we have been regulars at the Narrows Marina for almost that entire time. A few years back they changed ownership and ever since then the boats they have and customer service has declined significantly. This past Labor Day we decided what better way to spend our last day on vacation together than to rent a boat and relax cruising the lake. As soon as we stepped foot on the boat for our 'training' lesion I should have realized this day was going to end in disaster. It is a good thing we have rented multiple boats from this marina because the employee doing the training had no clue what he was doing and ran through his check list so fast that the average person would have been lost. When we asked him questions about the lake and about the boat our answer was blank stares. We managed to take out the boat with no issues the first 15 minutes. After stopping to take a swim we found out that there is a trick not explained to us on starting the boat. No mind you we have been doing this almost every summer we have been up there and my brother-in-law who was with us owns boats of his own. It took us 10 minutes to figure out that the only way to start this particular boat was start it in reverse and return it to neutral as quickly as possible. This issue we could have dealt with if it was the only problem we had that day, we were not that lucky. After lunch we had reserved a jet ski for an hour. Sounds fun right? We thought so too. Upon taking the Jet Ski out my brother-in-law realized that there were issues immediately. Believing the staff at the Narrows Marina had done their job and checked for any problems did not think anything of it and continued off into the lake to meet us. The particular jet ski that we had been given had an issue starting, go figure. You had to push the start button 5-6 times before the engine would turn over, not a problem, or so we thought. About 40 minutes into our hour rental we decided it was time to start heading back to the marina to return the jet ski and head back into the lake for our last our with the boat. There was only one problem; the Jet Ski was billowing smoke. We ended up having to use the tow rope and bring it back that way. Once we got back to the marina the 'expert' staff looked over the Jet Ski the same way they did before we took it out, by putting on a pair of swim goggles and looking underneath. Not finding anything wrong, big surprise, they decided they would put it on the lift and take a look that way. Once it was up on the lift they decided they saw a rock lodged in the intake and that is what was casing all the issues and we were going to be held responsible for all repairs to this jet ski. After the 'expert' employees explained that little Glen was a shallow lake and we should have known that it was considered 'off limits' a fact that they failed to mention when taking out their jet ski. Had we been told in the beginning that they considered Little Glen off limits there is no way in hell we would have taken anything into that lake. Thanks guys for he heads up. We could have dealt with this up to this point but their staff was not only rude they were almost going out of their way to be rude. The manager was a particular flavor of awful. I am a small business owner back home and if I were ever to teat my customers like she treated us I not only would be out of business but I would more than likely be sued on a regular basis. I do NOT recommend this place to anyone and in fact if I were you I would go out of my way to avoid it at all costs. STAY AWAY FROM THE NARROWS MARINA!!!! read more

This guy is complete wrong with his review of on the narrows. The staff is amazing, equipment in great shape and the lake is amazing. The only reason it seems to me this guy hates them is because he broke their equipment. It's not hard to operate a pontoon boat but some people can't handle it, and he is one of them. Horrible and arrogant business owners. They will cancel your rental reservation at the last minute if they can up sell their boats to a larger group. Boats have constant breakdowns and no concessions are offered if you end up with malfunctioning watercraft. Strongly suggest you avoid this Marina ... You will be disappointed if you do business with them. read more
