Frankfurters seem to love these little places along the Main. Why? Because there are hardly any of them. You go to many other places in Germany or Europe and they really utilize the shore of the river and have an abundance of cafes and bars and restaurants. Frankfurt does not (maybe it floods here frequently or something that I don't know about). So places like Main Cocktailbar are very popular during the warmer months amongst locals. I will start of by saying that the reason this place gets crap-all stars is because the service is horrendous. I think for everyone sitting in a chair outside of it (like 100 or so of us), there was one server. Most everyone acknowledges this and just goes to the tent itself. But stilllllllll.......... slow slow slow. Twenty minutes to grab a beer is quite ridiculous. With that being said, I am glad this place exists. I am not eager to run back over that way as I can cheaply just take a cooler and drink anywhere alongside the river, but every so often it is nice to pop by a place like this. It fills with cyclists, dogs, kids, and adults just having a great time. My dog even enjoyed himself there.

What was great and pretty rare in Europe: Someone came through every few minutes and refilled people's water glasses with free water. Thumbs up for that! I'm deducting one star cause my drink came in a regular glass instead of the classic copper mug, which took away a lot of the classical feeling of enjoying the moscow mule. When I asked about this, they told me they don't serve it in copper mugs on weekends due to the risk of theft. I felt a little bit like a suspected thief... come one, there are other ways, like taking a deposit for the mug. Other than that, all good! I'll be back.
