A lift was available for the inspector to review the suspension, frame and for fluid leaks. A lift was made available but the inspector did not inspect under the car as I requested. What a shame. No feedback as to oil or fluid leaks at all. Why not? I asked for these specifically. I did receive a slew of photos of scratches which I already knew about from a previous video. I purchased a vehicle out of state. The dealer required the money prior to the purchase, stating there were instances of cashier's check forgery they wanted to avoid. Since I wouldn't be able to personally inspect the vehicle before money changed hands I hired Lemon Squad to inspect the car. Lemon Squad completed the inspection and gave the vehicle a clean bill of health. I drove the vehicle home and took it in to get it waxed. The owner of the detail shop took one look at the car and told me it had been involved in an accident. He showed me lines in the paint where masking tape had been applied and new paint sprayed. He also showed me "overspray" on fasteners that were unpainted on the undamaged side of the vehicle. He never even touched the vehicle before noting it had been damaged. I expected a trained professional would complete my vehicle inspection. I spent over $21,000.00 on a vehicle I wouldn't have purchased, at least not for the price I paid, had I known it had been involved in an accident. It takes more than calling yourself a vehicle inspector to BE a vehicle inspector but apparently it doesn't if you're an inspector for Lemon Squad. Got a pre purchase inspection for an out of state 1999 Jaguar XK8. Inspector wrote a detailed report with about a hundred photos of the vehicle. The computer was ran and the error codes noted. The job was overall excellent. My only concern is a lack of attention to the brakes in the Lemon Squad report. The report only addresses the entire "Brake System Condition" and "Brake Performance," neither of which indicate the existence of any brake assembly. Due to this, my inspector only commented on the brake fluid and missed that an entire wheel had been missing a brake caliper, pad, and rotor. This was a multi thousand dollar repair that could have cost me my life. To avoid this in the future, four lines in the report indicating the state of the brake assembly on each wheel could prevent this. A truly life saving and lemon dodging intervention! read more

Do not use if you need the report quick! I ordered an inspection of a vehicle and the inspector came out the same day and submitted his report a few hours later. So it was all looking good. Then the report got stuck in the "quality review" stage for several days now and Lemon Squad will not release a draft of the report to me despite calling several times. I was just told that they were still within the 4 business day "window" for issuing the report and there was nothing they could do to speed up the process. As everyone knows, time is of the essence when purchasing a used vehicle that is priced right and using Lemon Squad to do the inspection may cost you getting the car. read more

Update to negative review: I filed a complaint with BBB for Lemon Squad's falsified report. Lemon Squad "management" if you can call it that will not address the issue and rest on the fact that they refunded my fee. They fail to address the fact that they took their mechanic's report of the vehicle and altered it. I have email proof of what the mechanic reported vs the report LS sent me (I got this info as a rep of LS accidentally sent me both pieces of info, bet that guy is fired). In essence they took a lemon and tried to make it smell like a rose. This is in stark contrast to their name and supposed mission. I repeat, DO NOT use this service as they do not provide the service they purport to. In fact, they purposely and intentionally cover up known defects at the detriment to their "customer". Why they do this I'll let you guess but it is obvious to me. Good concept, terrible company, management and execution. Beware and go see the car yourself or call a mechanic shop near the vehicle and hire them. I actually feel bad for the mechanic that gave a true report only to have it altered and falsified by Lemon Squad management before it went to me, I bet he doesn't even know what is happening. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! FRAUD! I used this service to check out an RV in another state that I was interested in. Because of the Lemon Squad report, I purchased the RV. When I went to pick up the RV, I found out from the sellers that the "RV inspector" wasn't an inspector at all. He told them he was a private investigator that picked up some side business from Lemon Squad and they only paid him $150 to do the inspection and therefore an hour was plenty of time to look over the vehicle. The sellers told me he never drove the vehicle...he only started it up! If you read the report this is what he stated: 'I found no issues on the test drive. The engine had plenty of power and there were no misfires. The transmission shifted as designed with no harsh engagement or slipping. The steering was responsive and the suspension was firm and the vehicle handled well. There were no abnormal vibrations or odd noises. The brakes were firm with no pulsation felt.' This pisses me off as he NEVER drove it! Also, the first time I turned on the wipers...they disintegrated! He marked off that they were good. He also said there was a little wear and tear on the seats...that's true, but did he even check the seats on the dinette? They were turned over because they are awful on the side that is suppose to be up. The dinette table laminate is peeling off, a light in the front was out, and a brake light in the back was out. There is no telling what else I'm going to find as I go through and put this thing together. I paid $44,000 cash up front based on their report! I would NEVER have done that based on what I've found so far. I expect a full refund from this shoddy inspection and personally, I think that supposed "RV inspector" should be fired! An absolute must when looking for your next vehicle, I have just received my inspection report, saving me from buying a gorgeous looking, extremely low mileage basket case of a money pit. This is my experience I bought the car inspection service where they prompt me with drop down menus asking which model of the car, make, year etc stuff and in the end it made my buy $189 plus extra $39 for carfax report. I received the confirmation of the appointment next day. Two hours before appointment I called the appointment to confirm about appointment. Here is the fun part started. Initial rep said its been pushed to next day because they so backed out. We expressed concern saying our interested car may not be available if they delay. They said they can't help. Next day they suppose to show up in the morning but it keep pushing to afternoon. My dealer called and said they can't wait for us since they are getting some enquiries. We requested so hard to hold it until inspection done and they agreed. So we called the lemonsquad again to reconfirm the appointment. The lady who attended the call totally ignored about our concern and didn't even acknowledge what time technician can go etc other than saying as per their terms it will be done in two days. We repeatedly ask what exact time technician can go, again she said within two days of the order. And suddenly she changed the topic saying we have to pay $10 extra. We ask why. She said we paid less. Again we ask how we paid less when their system only suggested payment while selecting all drop down menu lists. She simply repeating we have to pay $10 without answering our question why our fault. Then we are frustrated and said we don't mind paying that extra $10 if you can confirm and dispatch the technician as per the schedule. She didn't even wanted to confirm any of that and said her supervisor will give me a call. In one hour her supervisor called with very very rude tone saying you don't wanna pay $10 we decided to cancel the appointment and return your money. I was asking again same question why and also said I didn't refuse to pay. All I was asking is why I have to pay when their system only determined how much to pay. She simply said since anyway you aren't happy with our service we are cancelling and disconnected the phone. Dealer told me the inspector wasn't even on site long enough to know all of the information in the report, that he was in a rush and probably made up some of the stuff to fill in the report fully (it was a Friday if that makes any difference). I was told the inspector did not drive the vehicle, so I'm not sure how he would know the status of the transmission and brakes that he commented on. I feel like the Lemon Squad has incentive to tell its inspectors to diminish the apparent quality of the vehicle in order to keep customers coming back. My experience was similar to babysitting - The ETA of my inspection kept changing, it took multiple times of me reaching out to Customer Service to get a true timeline (7 days). Once I received the final report it was embarrassingly bad..The photos looked like my 70 year old father with an iPhone, poor photo quality with the flash interrupting most photos. Also, the low level of detail with what I thought I was receiving based on the $300+ price tag is comical. I signed for the car and flew to pick it up trusting the lemon squad report. Once I arrived the center console had a rip in the leather and the hinge wouldn't work. My local shop who fixed it says any mechanic worth their ASE title would have been able to see this problem and report on it since it was not a brand new issue that came up in my few days of ownership and it has been leaking brake fluid for quite some time. Since this is a major brake system failure it's obviously a huge SAFETY concern, and I'm out the $2000+ repair bill with no help whatsoever on LemonSquad's part. Worst auto review company on the planet! Totally inaccurate report. Described truck as a 4-cylinder when it's a 5-cylinder. Said battery needs replacing when the battery is fine. Said carpet was in good condition when there is no carpet, just a vinyl matt. But worst of all-and dangerous- was they didn't even bother to look at the frame where there was so much rot and rust, that there were big gaping holes in the frame! The report indicated that the car was solid and had no issues whatsoever. When I received the car off the trailer it had no working brake system at all. I took it to my local mechanic for inspection and was told master cylinder was rotted it out along with the hoses 4 wheel cylinder and never had break fluid for years. Absolutely terrible company, NO REFUNDS & not clearly indicated on their sales pages (buried in the FAQ's). They will hem and haw when it comes time to cancel your inspection, so they have time to say, "well, too late to cancel it now! The inspector has already completed the inspection." The dealer misrepresented the car online, and I tried to cancel the inspection to get it rescheduled (a $50 fee!). Service rep simply told me "looks like your order is in process - you'll just have to wait for the results of the inspection to be complete." Now I have an inspection for a vehicle I have NO intention to buy, I wasn't even able to get credit back to use it towards a different vehicle inspection. $200 literally down the drain. Don't even get me started on the actual inspection quality. Turns out they don't even get on the ground to physically inspect the undercarriage - they use small mirrors and a long stick. I have used them to inspect 4 classic vehicles for me. I found their service to be fairly useless and has actually cost me money on the purchase of a vehicle. When inspecting a classic vehicle, any inspector worth his salt must carry a paint thickness gauge or meter. Two of the four inspectors didn't as requested. My last inspector discussed selling price with the seller and led them to believe that it was worth more than their asking price. Put me in am impossible position with the seller. Unacceptable. I will not use them again. I chatted with customer service about their inspector discussing the selling price and all they would say is that their inspectors do not discuss price. Hired these guys to do an inspection. The day of the inspection was to occur they called and said the tech was unable to contact the dealer because they did not pick up the phone. They also said they went to the dealership and they saw no vehicle that matched my request. I called the dealership and they picked up on the first ring and yes the vehicle was in front clear as day. I then personally drove 4 hours to look and this vehicle myself the next day, the dealer and the vehicle were both available. Bottom line is they did not have a tech to do this inspection in this area. What they did was an outright lie, they never called or went to the dealership and made up this cover story. They put this inspection on "hold" and will keep my $199.00 days, as per terms of service. My terms of service is you need to at least make an attempt to provide this service you said was going to be provided. They just made up a lie because they wanted to keep my $199.00. They are dishonest and cannot be trusted. I would never consider using this service ever. I purchased a pre-purchase inspection for $219.99 for a used car on 3/23/24 through Lemon Squad. Their website listed someone coming to look at the car on 3/23/24, almost immediately after I set up the appointment. It then was changed to 3/25/24 at 11:45AM at the car dealership. My salesperson called me multiple times on 3/25/24 because no one from Lemon Squad called the dealership nor showed up to complete the service. I called Lemon Squad to discuss and their response was placing my order on hold until I found another car for them to inspect. I stated they missed two appointments and I just wanted a refund. They stated my order/money would have to stay in an on hold status for 90 days at which time I could request a refund. Update: On 4/16 I got an update they went to the dealership and the car sold and they couldn't complete the inspection. To upcharge for a higher level service for "classic" cars and not even check the areas that the customer specially asks (or stand behind your service) says a lot. I wish I trusted these reviews before enlisting the services of Lemon Squad as I feel completely taken advantage of. If you don't want to read all the details, my advice is to find a local mechanic/shop if you're looking for a comprehensive inspection as these guys seem to do the bare minimum and nothing more. I had been searching for a very specific model of BMW, a Z3 M Coupe, and after finding what I felt to be a good vehicle for the price and my intended purpose, arranged with the buyer for a pre-purchase inspection before flying out to get the car. Since this particular car has a few major issues that are not uncommon and fairly expensive to remedy, I even went so far as sending a link detailing them in the event that the mechanic wasn't familiar with this particular model. The inspection report came back with no glaring problems so I went ahead and proceeded with purchase (my first indication something was wrong was when they didn't include photos of the main problem area, the rear sub-frame). The car drove fine on the long drive home but I did notice it was a quart or so low on oil when that trip ended. This past weekend was the first time I was able to put the car on jack stands and actually get under it to do my first full inspection, I was shocked and disappointed in what I saw. The first thing I noticed was that the rear subframe of the car is starting to separate from the trunk floor and there was a fracture starting to develop in the rear differential mount. This is a known trouble area with these cars and is about $2500 to fix (it involves cutting out the trunk floor and welding in reinforcements). The second major repair I'm now facing is replacing the head gasket (another $2000 or so to fix) as there is a leak near cylinder head 6 (another common problem with this particular car/engine combo). I simply don't feel that I got what I paid for with this PPI as these are 2 major issues and were spotted within minutes of getting under the car. Had I known of either of these problems post-inspection and pre-purchase, I would have attempted to negotiate a significant discount or walked away from the deal. I tried contacting Lemon Squad and they dismissed my concerns without even wanting to hear what happened. They first implied that it could have happened in the 3 months following the inspection (the car was driven 4 times total so I highly doubt it). When I asked for someone to contact and at least share my experience they cited their terms and conditions and ended the support chat. I will NEVER use or recommend Lemon Squad services again. Won't refund your money if the vehicle is sold before inspector can arrive. They will hold onto your money for use on another vehicle inspection and will not offer a refund. I got a couple reports from these folks, and they do well when vehicle is available for inspection. A year into the hold, I found a local car and didn't need their inspection services so I called for a refund. They stated they had already refunded it and I ought to check with my bank as to why it didn't post. My bank denied any refund was ever made. I dug into my emails and sure enough I found two emails from lemonsquad the previous year. One was the confirmation of the refund, and one placed an hour later on the same date was an email confirmation of the funds being placed on hold. They never sent the refund, but I did get an email indicating a refund, which is just as good as a refund according to lemon squad. Make sure your vehicle will be available for inspection. read more

There was surface rust noted on the report that was consistent with age and mileage. I relied upon the inspection to purchase the vehicle and incurred a $1,700 transportation bill. Once the vehicle arrived, I put it up on jacks and inspected. Without removing any trim, under vehicle protection or the like, I found a GIANT rust hole through the frame of the vehicle. After certified dealership inspected it, the car was deemed a lemon as it was unsafe to drive. Thankfully, the dealership in MA took the vehicle back under the lemon law warranty protections. The bad news is I had to pay another $1,700 to return the vehicle. All in all, I'm out over $3,500 because of them. After many phone calls, I finally was able to get Denise, the manager, on the phone. After explaining my scenario, I was met with a disgruntled and downright disturbing take on customer service. She BLAMED me for relying upon their services and refused to help me with the costs I incurred from their poor performance. I don't know what business in this world can openly lambast its customers for relying upon their expertise! We all make mistakes and that's fine, but when given the opportunity to do the right thing, you need to step up and take care of your customers! Absolutely worthless service. Order #409089 Oct. 2020 Bought an inspection on a 2017 Audi Allroad. Pictures were blurry sometimes in the report - fine whatever- looks like the car was free of damage. But then the BS starts. The report stated for paint and I quote: "Normal for mileage and most too small to see in photos. The paint looked good overall and I noted no signs of accident damage" Well when I bought the car and had it delivered - to my surprise my wife and I immediately noticed rear bumper damage that was clear as day. I thought for sure the delivery truck did it - but I looked to the Lemon Squad photos and there it was - hiding in the shadows of a rear bumper image was this damage. HOW DID THE INSPECTOR MISS THIS? I paid for them to find this. Not only did he decide not to mention or photograph it at all - the customer support is even worse. Complained and asked for a refund to Lemon Squad saying "this was a major mess up by your inspector, he isnt there to chill out and drive the car, he is there to inspect it". I paid for an inspection - not a quick glance at the car - he was there to look for damage. What did Lemon Squad say back to that? "f he would have seen it, then he would have taken a close up of it. They try to do what they can. " That's the point here - Lemon Squad inspectors are NOT EVEN LOOKING for damage. "They try to do what they can" - Lemon Squad's official statement on their inspectors. Absolute garbage. Oh another one "black is hard to photograph" I was told 1. No, I took a photo of the damage no problem. 2. Who cares wasn't he there with his own eyes? Attached is a photo from the report showing the damage, and then my photo as received when I got the car. Thanks for the totally worthless service Lemon Squad. I could have paid someone off reddit to go look at the car and they would have said "nice Audi and all but the back bumper looks messed up like someone tried to start carving an Audi Logo on it". Worthless service run by unprofessional customer service reps that would like nothing more than for you to buy a car with damage that "the inspector doesn't see". -EDIT - owner response below is junk. Look how much nicer he is on Yelp than in my Inbox. He first ignored my initial email, and after asking him if his official statement is to ignore me, I got this email, signed by nobody at all, text in full below: "The inspectors try to capture the nicks and scratches as best they can. Black is hard to photograph, and he said that he didn't see anything like that on it." No signature, nothing. From the jump he was just out to get out of any responsibility. Only after me explaining there is no chance that it wasn't there - the story becomes "can't see everything on a car". Even his response explains how little responsibility this company takes in letting you know about the damage on a car. ITS AN INSPECTION SERVICE. STOP MAKING ME FEEL LIKE A JERK FOR YOU NOT INSPECTING THE CAR. I am concerned that someone will think they are actually purchasing a vehicle inspection if they pay Lemon Squad. You are not. Beware - you are just paying someone to take crap photos of a car for sale and drive it around the block. Horrible job on an inspection of a 2008 infiniti M35x. I'm writing after a couple years of owning a car that the lemon squad cleared. A month down the line the car had a check engine light. Upon checking with a mechanic it was an issue that affected the gas mileage of the car. However, the biggest issue came a few months later when I experienced major mechanical failure with the car whereby the car was shaking a lot and having trouble with the brakes. When I went to a mechanic, I found out substantial amounts of the undercarriage was rusted. This resulted in a myriad of issues that costed thousands of dollars to fix. Not to mention, other obvious issues such as the driver's power seat not working were also not noted. At this point the car is essentially unusable. Basically the service is an excessively expensive photography service. No mechanical analysis went into the process. I highly recommend against this service. read more

I've bought several cars using pre-purchase inspection companies. This was my first time using Lemon Squad, and I was disappointed. My main complaint is that I doubt they checked the operation of the windows, and they missed a flaw in the convertible top. The rear passenger side window was inoperable when the top was up. The chrome of the window track was beaten up, and no mention of either issue was mentioned. Also, staples were visible at a section of the top that met the chrome holder strip that clearly was a defective installation issue. Do not trust this service. I was purchasing a car from out of state and used Lemon Squad to inspect the car for me since I couldn't be there myself to test drive, and wasn't local to that area. So Lemon Squad had a decent website and was easy enough to schedule an appointment. The report I got mostly focused on cosmetic issues which were apparent from the dealership photos, but marked everything else as good, including the car's battery. I get the car delivered. Engine won't turn over. I do a voltage test, shows the battery is completely depleted. I go to take it out, and see it's from 2010! So did this inspector just turn on the car at the dealership, and since it was successful he marked it as good condition, without doing a single inspection or test to show how it was on its last legs? The worst part is that the battery was also missing a connector piece from the last time it was replaced in 2010 that connects the battery to the vent tube. Cars who's batteries are in the trunk need a vent tube to expel toxic fumes so they don't get into the cabin where you'd breathe it in, and can also cause the battery to explode. I'm not a mechanic, and I was able to tell really easily that this battery was way too old to be marked as good, and the absence of the vent tube connection means that if the battery was working fine, I would have been driving in a potential death trap. I called Lemon Squad to let them know about the experience and they said "Sorry you weren't happy with our service" and ended the call. Will never use again, and I would caution anyone else to avoid this company as well. If they missed such a simple thing as this, I shudder to think what else they might have missed in past inspections. If you want blurry closeup photos showing slight scuffs of used cars you're looking to buy, go with Lemon Squad. If you want a company who can find potentially fatal flaws with a used car purchase, go anywhere else. read more
