Chaufa con bistec (9.5/10) - I was blown away from my very first bite, the rice combined with the steak, eggs, cilantro, onion, and bean sprouts made for basically a perfect bite. WTF IT WAS ACTUALLY SO GOOD I COULD NOT BELIEVE. don't even get me started on mixing this heavenly rice with the green sauce (it's everywhere oh god what do i do). It just got better and better with each bite, I NEED to try this again with chicken and shrimp mixed in. No negative notes this is the best rice i've had in a long time flavortown. Tallarine Verde con pollo asado (9.2/10) - At first glance these noodles gave me a pesto vibe, boyy was i not ready for what i was gonna eat. I had a difficult time picking a favorite between this and the chaufa, so i didn't and went ham on both of them. The chicken had a beautiful grilled taste to it and was a perfect balance for the noodles. the green creaminess, oh so creamy I was slurping that thang up (pause?). The potatoes were a nice touch but the noodles truly were the star of the show. Green sauce (9.4/10) - WHAT IS THE SECRET INGREDIENT, GIVE ME IT NOW. I can't quite put down exactly why but this flavor is like no other sauce i've had, everything you put it on brings the flavors to a whole new world (maybe even galaxy). That shit is like crack bro i try it once and now im hooked, licking the cup dry like a dawg. the spice is almost not even there but the flavor, oh god the flavor, i cant hold it in. (oops). I need this sauce bottled up and on slathered all over my body. Yellow sauce (8.8/10) - Switch the spice and flavor levels of the green sauce and you are met with this vibrant yellow masterpiece. If you're looking for a nice little kick in this food from the gods i recommend slathering this on your food and body (optional but recommended). Overall altogether in conclusion, this meal left me FILLED to the brim (maybe a little wet). I visited for my sister's graduation dinner with a party of 7 and unfortunately had one of the worst dining experiences we've had. From the beginning, our server was extremely inattentive and dismissive. She repeatedly pushed us to order a seafood boat even after we clearly explained that multiple people in our party have seafood allergies. We ultimately declined it because we did not feel comfortable risking cross contamination. After that interaction, the service noticeably declined. Our table was largely ignored while nearby tables were attended to regularly. Food came out one person at a time over the course of nearly an hour, so we were unable to eat together. Some meals arrived cold, appetizers came after entrees, and we were never properly checked on. We had to get our own utensils because none were brought to the table and drink refills were never offered. To make matters worse, when we were ready to leave, we waited over 10 minutes just to receive the check because our server continued ignoring the table. An automatic gratuity was already included and when I expressed concern about paying full gratuity for such poor service, I was simply told it could not be removed, with no effort to address the situation or involve a manager. We understand restaurants get busy, but this was supposed to be a special graduation celebration and the experience completely ruined the atmosphere for our family. I think I have reviewed another Leña. The name feels familiar. Peruvian food I love. But with Tops having an hour wait and my friends on a roadtrip from Boston to DC, I wanted something that would keep them moving while we all enjoyed. Checked the map, this popped up, boom. Zero wait, in we go. And then a bit of a wait. I met them inside, we had all be given menus, and by that I mean electronic devices. Mine didn't work - the kid had to show me to power it on. The perils of technology. The menu was not easy to follow and I had to scroll all over to compare dishes, so thumbs down to this format. Just print them. Finally someone came by - just to get our drinks. But by the time he returned, we were all ready to order, so not too terrible. It was a theme for the day, some long gaps without service but then frequent service. And we're there at 2 PM, so not a huge crowd either. They may have just not thought to wander around and check up like the best places do. Anyway, before I get to the best part, here was the worst: birthdays. LOUD. If anyone in your group is sensitive to loud noises, surprises, heart issues, etc., avoid this place. I wanted to draw extra emphasis to that because it concerns me. We laughed. But things get really loud for a couple of minutes every time they deliver a birthday special dessert, and if you're near that table, you smell the smoke when they blow out the sizzler. So be mindful. Finally, the food. With all that I've mentioned above, I'm at a low 3 stars, and so that tells you I enjoyed my meal. I think I ate three meals and everyone else ate two, because the plates are huge. I made the mistake of also ordering a soup, the Sopa a la Minuta, which lies about what it is. It's not a beef soup with a little bit of milk. It's a delicious creamy soup with an entire steak's worth of beef chopped inside. So many noodles I needed a fork. It's a unit of a meal on its own. Well, then I also had chaufe de pollo, or the chicken and fried rice. That I could eat with a spoon, but again, an entire chicken chopped through an entire paddy of rice. But I finished every spoonful and forkful of food because I couldn't put it down, and I can say everyone else at my table did the same with their dishes. The friend across from me said it tasted like her childhood Portuguese Hawaiian meals. I don't know what those taste like, but we have multiple votes for delicious authenticity here. The churrasco was chewy and hard to digest Even though the food was alright, the notable thing in this place was the green sauce. That kinda tells you the story. Also, when the appetizer is better than main course... I've had better elsewhere. What a fun Sunday. Craving for Peruvian food we stopped by. Yes it was loud, but it was fun. The band they had added excitement to the packed restaurant. And the food. Delicious. This is a complete taste of authentic Peruvian food! All my experiences here have been with takeout. Calling to place an order is always prompt and accurate. Pick up isn't ever more than 20 minutes for food to be ready. The weekends seem to be the busiest as tables are filled with customers. Walking in on the weekends, you'll be walking into classic Peruvian music and/or modern Spanish music. The llama upon entrance is a nice touch to its culture and opportunity for a nice photo. Most importantly, thumbs up to the fresh seafood used for their ceviche mixto. Don't forget to add the papa ha la huancaina as a side dish. The staff is amazing super nice but the food was very salty. I had the lomo salteado my favorite but it had way too much salt. I also tried the chupe de camarones (milk based soup with shrimp, potatoes, rice and cheese cubes) it had a little kick in it but once again too much salt. The chicha morada though was really good. The restaurant is very nice on the inside even has a bar. I would give the restaurant another chance only bc we all have those days we might have added extra salt lol. read more

This is a new location for them. They have room for improvement. Service was slow. We waited a while and then had to hail down someone to take our order. The menu says the Trilogia de Ceviche is your choice of 3. That is not the case. They came back to say that if I wanted my choices the price would go from 30 to 60. They need to fix that menu. Isn't the customer always right? They had 1 person running around to take the orders and to serve. The food was delicious. I will give them that. But, they brought out the Churrasco and the chicken before the ceviche. The ceviche is the appetizer. I even asked the waiter why that happened. With no response. The Pisco Sour was way too strong. We ordered 3. I added water to mine. My daughters added soda. They have only been open for a short while. So I hope they get their service issues fixed. They need more staff. Came here as a newbie in the neighborhood. Upon entering the restaurant the ambiance was nice. Live music playing but the music was a bit loud for a restaurant. Upon being seated we realized we were not given water which is kind of odd. We had to later on ask the server for water. My server was nice and overall the service was great. Very attentive, constantly clearing the table which I find nice. We explained we were new to the area. Our server recommended us a dish called Lena y carbon that was supposed to be for 2 people. It came with churrasco, pork chop, other steak, 1/4 chicken, anticucho/potato's and sausage for $60. We were extremely hungry and we did not mind spending $ for good food. It was nice that we were able to do substitutions as we do not eat pork or antichuco and we also asked for the arroz chaufa and yuca fries instead of the sides the dish came with. You can tell a lot of people order from here which is great. As a starter we had the chicken fingers which were delish and we had 2 passion fruit margaritas that were ok for me but great for my friend. The food is great we would come back. Our only complaint is that once the main dish came out it was extremely huge and the portion size was actually for a family of 4 and not 2 people. So, we left with tons of leftovers and unfortunately we will not be eating them as the steak was way too much food. Someone came to check on us and ask about the service once we were eating and we let the person know everything was good. We will def be back but beware their portion sizes are HUGE.
