Most shops are accessible through indoor hallway, so it's manageable to walk in winter. There are several different types of shops, restaurants, grocery stores are available. There's also a steam boat museum with a gift shop. Among restaurants they had Arabian, Brazilian, Indian, Vietnamese, Mexican, Ethiopian, Filipino and a Pizza place. All these places were small shops with limited seating area. There was one boba tea store and a Dutch flower shop as well. We spent over an hour exploring different shops. We bought some souvenir goods from here. All the staff members and associates were friendly and helpful. It doesn't have people selling things like 1 dollar sunglasses like the Overland Park farmers market. This farmers market is what every farmers market should be. The type of place where the farmers are actually farmers. The type of place where the farmers will remember who you are and what you like. The type of farmers market where the farmer will bring you green tomatoes for the next week just because you want to fry some. It is also home to some of the most delicious tomatoes you will ever have in your life. I'm being serious here. There's this guy. He sells them out of the back of his truck. They are the ugliest tomatoes ever, but they are so good. I love this man and his tomatoes. I can't wait until it is July. If you want fancy stalls and pastas and breads and pies, then there's another farmers market close by that is probably better for you. I mean, the Shawnee Farmers Market does have some of this stuff, but for the most part it is just produce. I love it, and you should too.

The busiest stop by far was Nitchals Farm, where nearly 25 people were already lined up at 7:30 a.m. waiting for homegrown tomatoes and fresh produce. Not wanting to miss out (a little FOMO never hurts!), we joined the line ourselves. While we waited, several people couldn't stop talking about how good their tomatoes are, so it felt like we made the right choice. Another favorite was Bazaar Spice, which offers an impressive selection of spices available by the scoop or in bottles. We picked up two bottles for $15 and chose the Italian Blend and Salsa Blend, both of which smelled amazing. Every vendor we visited was welcoming and friendly, and there was an incredible variety of high-quality products throughout the market. It's easy to see why this has become such a popular community destination. We're already looking forward to making it part of our weekly summer routine. Now I will warn you, if you are picturing the Northland's answer to River Market, stop now! This is a much smaller market with just a handful of vendors, two produce stands, two baked goods, salsa, and even a homemade curries served hot! I was highly impressed with how much was offered in such a small space! The baked goods were devine, try the citrus shortbread! Although the GF baked good table is also well worth the trip. You know how most gluten free items taste like cardboard? These don't! The muffins taste like muffins, the bread is soft like bread and the snozzberries taste like... nevermind you get the point! Hot tip: the best berries seem to be in the middle. A flat box runs you $0.75 and the berry price is a bit over $5/lb. If you just can't stop picking, then you'll fill a flat quickly and you're rewarded with maybe $40 worth of strawberry goodness. These berries are so worth it! Clean, sweet, and just ripe for the picking! Gieringers does other berries (blackberries, blueberries, etc.) but those are best picked well into the summer. But, by far our favorite booth is Treasures of Tayside (named for the River Tay, the longest river in Scotland). She makes the most amazing shortbread cookies. I think she said it's a recipe most similar to what you'd find in Glasgow. Lol, we'll put it on the calendar to go there for her cookies. She sells them in little ziplock bags, 4 to a bag. I think it's like, $1.50 a bag. I'm not sure. I see her booth, my eyes glaze over and the next thing I know, there's half a dozen little bags in my hand and I'm headed back to my car. If I'm going there for fruits or vegetables, or something else in particular I have make sure I get those first or they get lost in the shortbread cookie haze.
