The staff (McKenzie and Dr. Choi) took him in the back, found out his intestines had tangled and died off. Samaritans Animal Hospitals amazing staff took him in for emergency surgery on the spot and was an "ALL STAR" team for Odin's care. He came out of emergency surgery pointed in the right direction. Samaritan Animal Hospital advised us to take him to Animal Emergency Clinic where they had Odin for 3 days. He almost didn't make it, but due to the care of the staff at Samaritan Animal Hospital and the staff at Animal Emergency Clinic is the only reason our puppy made it through. We will be the first to say. We put all our hope into the Samaritan Animal Hospital and Animal Emergency Clinic, where they have done nothing less of being the best choice for our animals and we will not look elsewhere. After the surgery we had to give him another set of shots, after the completion of shots. Odin looked a little lethargic again. Took him into Animal Emergency clinic, where we were then notified of our puppy catching Parvo. Emergency Animal Clinic once again got right on top of it and got him cured up and a reasonable cost. Samaritan Animal Hospital then reached out to shot manufacturer and got us reimbursed for the cost of parvo care. Our puppy is now seven month old and weighing in at seventy-five pounds. We cannot give enough thanks to these people that helped us keep our Odin alive. The staff is amazing, hardworking, honest, and have the biggest hearts. Special thanks to: McKenzie Autumn Dr. Choi Dr. Pennington

Read carefully. It'll save you money and a damn headache…read more We took in our Belgian Malinois because his leg had swollen and he was no longer able to put weight on it. I paid $1200 for them to run labs and do numerous x-rays. They said they could not find a break or fracture and that he may have just sprained his leg. Sent him home with painkillers and joint snacks for arthritis prevention. His leg continued to swell overnight, I called in and they asked me to give it more time for the medication to begin to help. We waited another day, but he stopped eating and drinking water. He was extremely lethargic and his leg had swollen almost twice its size. We took him back in. They wanted to get more x-rays of his leg. Additional bloodwork. Another $1,200, and then I get a phone call that they noticed that there was a bite mark on his leg. They shaved his leg down and found that he had multiple bite marks on his leg and it had become infected. They had to cut his leg open on two sides, debride it and clean, and then install a drain on each side. Another $2000. They did it all within 30 minutes of them closing, and then they sent us over to the emergency clinic for overnight care. They never provided transfer paperwork, never contacted the emergency clinic. Just sent us on our way. We had no other option and again had to pay $2000 for the overnight care. In the morning, the overnight care stated that our dog needed to get evaluated because there were no signs of improvement and he was in excruciating pain. Asked us to send him back to Samaritan. Samaritan refused to see him! After spending almost $4,500, they refused to see him back. They are absolutely the worst! Not only did they miss what was actually wrong with our dog the first time around, they then refused to see him after they were the ones that provided the treatment. Thankfully, the emergency clinic called Apple Valley animal Hospital. Apple Valley animal Hospital took in our dog that very morning. They had him in for observation the rest of the day. They provided IV and antibiotics IV pain medication for our dog. Sent home additional medication to help him with the infection. They unfortunately had to do another drainage towards the bottom of his leg that Samaritan also missed. There were more cuts towards the bottom. Don't even go here if your pet needs help. They will just take your money and then refuse to actually care for your pet.

I am so pleased that I have found these vets. They take my concerns seriously. I know with the COVID-19 protocols that vets and other pet care providers follow that it can seem pretty chaotic. But not here. They have a system, it works, and I've always felt a sense of calm and order when I've been to their clinic. The staff is wonderful. I can't say enough good things about Dr Ravenscroft and Dr Schilling. The techs and nurses are always kind and professional. We had an emergency appt today, and I need to give Cameron, who was my cat's nurse, a shout out for all his help and for taking such good care of my Sunny. I just want to say Thank You to all the Apple Valley Animal Hospital staff. I really appreciate all they do.

Tried taking her back in for bloodwork and staples removed and she was SO scared, she refused to go back. They REFUSED to treat her in the room, would not let me go back with her. They DO NOT KNOW HOW TO ACCOMMODATE FOR DOGS WITH PTSD! Had to walk out without services. Going to have to figure out how to remove staples ourselves. Not great service!!!! P.S. Great doctors there who saved her life. But poor policies to keep pets safe and calm.

In February, I took my 4-month-old kitten, Sweet Pea in to have her spayed and to repair a hernia…read more On Tuesday, 5/12/26, I took her in at 11:00 for a consultation because she was in heat. Dr. Velasco wanted to do a 2nd surgery that very day to go in and remove a small piece of ovary that was apparently missed. I told him she had eaten this morning at 9am, so wouldn't it be better to bring her in tomorrow after fasting all night? He insisted on doing the surgery that day and said it would be OK because he would take her as his last appt. He called me at 5:30 to come and get her. He sounded funny on the phone, like he wasn't telling me something. I got there at 5:30 and told the front desk that I was worried because of the Doctor's phone call, so could I please speak to him. I also got a receipt for the surgery of $2910.00 with all fees waived, including medications. I thought the Dr. felt bad about messing up the first operation, so her wasn't charging me for the second one. I paced for half an hour, very upset and worried. Finally, an employee came out with Sweet Pea and said Dr. Velasco had already left. Was he avoiding me? She kept assuring me that Sweet Pea was fine because they double checked her vitals. She also said the Doctor wanted to do a re-check appt. Wednesday morning, which was unusual and worried me even more. All the way home I felt like everyone there knew that there was a problem, but no one wanted to tell me. Sweet Pea was obviously in pain when I got her home. The employee assured me that she had been given enough antibiotics and pain medication to last until morning. At 10pm I had another dose of pain meds to give her, but she let out one loud scream and died. She was my love, my baby, my Sweet Pea. The whole house seems empty without her. I am left broken hearted, sick, and angry because this should never have happened. Why couldn't we wait a day? Why couldn't we wait until she was a bit older? Why so insistent on immediate surgery? I now think they waived the charges because they didn't think she was going to survive what they did to her, and they wanted to make sure she died at my house. I will be suffering over this for a long time and will never trust this Vet again. Sweet Pea is dead because of his mistake.

April was absolutely fantastic and showed so much patience during our visit. I am beyond grateful for her and the rest of the team's efforts at the clinic. After glancing over my bill, I noticed a charge for an X-ray that I thought was included in Meow's plan. April was so considerate and took the time to explain that there were actually two X-rays conducted - one for Meow's mouth and one for his body. She was incredibly helpful in walking me through the charges on my bill to make sure I fully understood what I was paying for. As a responsible pet parent, I understand it is my responsibility to ask questions about any charges I don't understand. I am grateful for the help I received and would have regretted paying blindly without understanding what I was being charged for. Banfield seems to honestly care about pets' health, and I appreciate that. Her kindness made a huge difference, especially for a concerned pet owner like myself. Thank you to April and the entire Apple Valley Banfield location team for taking the time to answer my questions and treating me as more than just a number.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this emergency veterinary clinic…read more My 1-year-old cat began vomiting repeatedly, and after he had thrown up three times, I called this clinic around 6:30 PM seeking advice and emergency care. The woman who answered the phone was rude, repeatedly cut me off while I was trying to explain the situation, and told me that because my cat was not considered to be in critical condition, it could take up to six hours before he would be seen. However, she refused to provide any estimated wait time over the phone. Feeling helpless and concerned, I scheduled an appointment for the following day at 6:00 PM. A few hours later, around 10:00 PM, my cat vomited again--this time with blood and blood clots. Terrified, I immediately rushed him to the clinic and arrived around 10:30 PM. I explained that his condition had worsened significantly and that he was now vomiting blood and needed emergency care. To my shock, I was turned away and refused service. The same employee acknowledged that vomiting blood was not normal and stated that my cat needed to be seen as soon as possible, yet instead of helping him, she referred me to another emergency clinic in Upland, nearly an hour away. As a pet owner dealing with what was clearly an escalating medical emergency, I found the lack of compassion and urgency completely unacceptable. If a clinic advertises emergency services, pet owners should not be turned away during a potentially life-threatening situation. I left feeling frustrated, scared, and abandoned when I needed help the most.
