I love it when one of my last minutes adventures leads us to a new restaurant and a great evening…read moremeal. Welcome to Stone Werks Big Rock Grill. This is a small chain of restaurants in San Antonio with an upscale look with a big menu and fair prices. I started our meal with their Blackberry Old Fashion. Wow this was an excellent drink. My wife had the Shimp Tacos and I had the Smash Burger. Fries come with the burger and these guys have shoestring fries! I highly recommend those. This is a big burger and it will fill you up. We really enjoyed our meal. But the Werks is not a burger place. Their menu is impressive. There is something for everyone. Steaks, rib eye, fish, pasta, pizza, salads and a great list of sandwiches. Great service, classy interior with comfortable seating makes this restaurant a good choice for a nice date night.

The restaurant itself is lovely inside perfect for small celebrations or family dinners and the service is almost always excellent. I had a strawberry margarita, which was sweet and delicious, just the way I like it! One of my guests ordered a blueberry mixed drink, but they were accidentally served a peach drink. We notified the server immediately, and when he returned, it was the same drink with no straw or cherry. He mentioned the bartender had added blueberry mix into the peach drink rather than bringing the correct one. That felt odd and inconsiderate. If the drink couldn't be swapped or refunded, it would have been much better to simply be informed instead of receiving this unusual workaround. For my meal, I ordered the ribeye steak with asparagus and mashed potatoes as usual. Disappointingly, the entire plate felt bland. The seasoning was minimal, and it didn't taste like the Stone Werks meals I know and love. Steak and mashed potatoes should be a guaranteed win, especially for this restaurant. On the bright side, the calamari was perfect, crispy and flavorful. I'll still be visiting this location because I genuinely enjoy the restaurant. Hopefully this was just an off day, and things will be back to their usual high standard next time.

Michael our server was pleasant and very detailed, made sure to get our order just perfect! He came to check on us at the perfect times and offered drinks to go. The food was delicious and hot, seasoned well. I had the friend chicken that came with green beans and mashed potatoes Perfect from top to bottom. Chicken was crispy and not dry, green beans were aldente. The only negative thing was that we watched one of hosts clean a table across from us (long hair with glasses) she scooped all of the food and crumbs from the table and brushed it all food into the floor. A little training is needed for her. If you haven't been here in a while, I recommend trying them again. I'm glad that I did.

This is not the kind of review I like to write especially about a place I've been to many times and…read moreeverything was fabulous in the past. Maybe today was just an off day for the server Michael and who ever was in the kitchen. First things first, Michael the server. Dude you need an attitude adjustment big time. When you took my order for my food and drink which was for a glass of water and it took a long time to get said glass of water which you just dropped in front of me and it spilled on my hand and you walked away and I had to call you back for a straw of which you threw at me over another guest. Let me tell you buddy, if I was your manager today would have been your last. You were rude and disrespectful. Now onto the review of the food. Which is normally pretty good. Today I had a half sandwich and soup. The soup was cold and the sandwich had a ridiculous small amout of chicken salad on it for the cost. Now, I've run a kitchen or two in my day and this I am sure absolutely did not match what ever portion board the kitchen uses. My plate was taken away and returned by my server Michael again just plopped infront of me as he walks away not waiting to see if this was to my liking. So, today this establishment gets a thumbs down and a NY raspberry.

Upon entering around 6pm on a Friday evening, place wasn't too busy and we were quoted by the hostess about a 15 minute wait for a party of 3. The pros is having a toddler, the outdoor area has connect 4 giant game board and jenga to keep your little one busy enough to wait for your table. About 10 minutes passed by and we were seated to our table. Our waitress was informative about BJs Rewards and the menu, and did a decent job attending us only con is that I was given a broken glass of Pepsi and when requesting another glass of Pepsi she did take a while to bring it back. Now the food, my wife ordered the Epic Five Meat Pizza with the Mikes Hot Honey and wow was that delicious perfect balance of crispy tangy, saucy pizza topped with generous meat portions and included a house salad. I ordered the smash burger which you can't go too wrong, it was ok nothing extraordinary. Now for the desert, my wife ordered the chocolate chip pizookie while I ordered the cookies n cream Oreo pizookie, rich in cookie crème chocolate flavor topped with vanilla bean ice cream I was a fan! The interior is decorated as an intimate brewery dim and you can see the beer tanks inside, what you expect at a BJ's Brewhouse, this meal deal is great however the general menu pricing here is on the the higher side. Overall great for the $13 Pizookie deal and their famous Pizookie, otherwise if you're dining on the weekends, better deals and food can be found at other establishments.

This particular day we stopped by for a late lunch on a weekday. Completely different vibes to when you come at night during the weekend. On the weekends it's bit more lively, but not overstimulating. We ordered a BBQ Chicken Pizza, a Buffalo Classic Pizza, and a Bacon Cheeseburger. Their burgers are always a good option, along with their pizzas. We got 2 - 12 inch pizzas which is plenty for 3 people. I will say that we won't be ordering the Buffalo Classic again, it was just too tangy and we were not a fan of the blue cheese crumbles. Besides that, the food is good and comes out quickly.

Once inside asked for someplace quieter so my parents with hearing impairments could enjoy the meal. Not to mention the music was so loud was hurting my ears and had to get within 3 ft of the hostess just to speak and be understood. After taken to a table directly under a speaker when once again the table runner couldn't even understand me, we went back to the front. Here's the rub, after asking once again if they could seat us somewhere where the music wasn't so loud you couldn't talk, was told nowhere would do. After asking if the music could be turned down a bet was told. This is the lower manager likes it played at. The young woman at the front then started getting upset and told me we were welcome to eat somewhere else.If we didn't like it. Was also told that it's a sports bar, and that's just how the atmosphere is.Even though the restaurant was full of children and families trying to enjoy themselves. I'm sure that if I asked someone from the EPA to go in and assess the restaurant, they are clearly above the 85 decibel threshold. I would not recommend this restaurant for anybody with families, small children, wanting to socialize, elderly or veterans who will not be able to enjoy their meal and share any kind of coversation.
