The 1st therapist my child had, was ok, but as soon as my child started getting used to her, she…read morewas gone and a new one came along. They both seemed to be very new in their careers, which was fine, but my child would say they never spoke about anything new. It was the same questions every week. My child felt like they got no where in their counseling. Everything was virtual as well... Covid is OVER! Stop with the virtual. Probably also, due to the fact that these counselors were in another state. One of them had their child running around them, while she sat on the floor... Really??? And I'm paying for this?? BUT, my problem was more with Joyce Mierzejwski. She was the one in charge. Her attitude was horrible. She was unhelpful, rude, impatient and condescending. When having to speak with her, it was always through email and I was lucky if I received a reply. And when I did, it was short and NEVER resolved. She is unprofessional and in the wrong field!!

When providing services to a 6 yo child with special needs, it is important for the…read moretherapist/counselor to gather information form both parents. Furthermore, during these kinds of session, the therapist/counselor needs to screen the parents and ask the parents some private questions. To make sure my child's therapist/counselor have all the information he/she needs for evaluation, I called this office to inquire if the other parent, living in a different household, can join the child's session via video chat on the other parent's phone. I already have the other parent's consent to participate in the same session. This office denied my request per their "office policy". I understand they have concerns about HIPAA compliance, so I offered to sign a medical release/wavier to join the scheduled session. And as a healthcare provider myself, I know that my request is reasonable and it does not violate any HIPAA law with the patient/custodian's consent. Therefore, I requested to see the office policy, which is within the patient's right. The person answering phone call immediately said that "if you are so much trouble, go somewhere else. We are very busy." I was shocked that he refused to provide office policy and refuse to provide service to my child. I am also surprised that they turn patients away while receiving payments from the district and the district will cover the cost at this location only. He repeated two times during the conversation suggesting to reschedule my child's session which was already scheduled on the same day of this phone call. I further explained that I did not need it right away but I do need to see it to find out how to connect to my child's therapist going forward if my child need continuous treatments. During the 7-minute phone call, I felt rushed, bullied and frustrated because the person answering the phone call was trying to put words in my mouth, because I was not sure if I could get an appointment elsewhere anytime soon, and I am not sure if my child's health insurance covers the session in other facilities. I had to re-iterate again and again that I am not asking him to send me the policy right away and please keep my child's appointment as my child needed the report to be able to go to the school the next day. And It's never my intention to hinder their operation. I expressed that if it's truly not allowed under their policy, I will be compliant and find other ways to speak to the therapist/counselor. At the end of the phone call, of course, he did not provide me with their office policy and probably didn't intend to provide me with one either. I knew it because he didn't even collect my contact information (name, email or phone number). I don't know what's wrong with this practice. I will not recommend this place if you can afford somewhere else.
