Leo is a phenomenal photographer (or, shall I say, phamomenal photographer?). Not only is he talented, but his dedication to his art and clients truly sets him apart. I came across his work on social media years ago. I shared Leo's portfolio with my fiancé (boyfriend at the time), who is also a photography enthusiast, and he was thoroughly impressed. We knew Leo was going to be our wedding photographer. The only thing in our way was that we weren't engaged yet. When my fiancé finally proposed, the first wedding vendor we committed to was Leo. We had a video call with him and really enjoyed our conversation. We booked him for our wedding. We didn't even shop around or chat with other photographers. We knew Leo was the one. Then we began brainstorming for our engagement shoot. We desired something unique and special. And we had the perfect photographer to help us fulfill our vision. My fiancé and I love the outdoors and wanted to take our engagement photos in one of our favorite places: Utah. Our destination engagement shoot required a significant hike on an unmarked trail, deep in the Utah backcountry. Although Leo is not an avid hiker, he was on board. It was the best experience we could have asked for, despite Mother Nature not cooperating. We flew Leo out for three days. He was a consummate professional throughout the entire trip. We got to know one another and developed a friendship. This bond is crucial for any photographer and his/her clients. We trusted him with our photos, our moments, and our story. We knew he would capture "us" in our truest selves. Posing in front of a camera is intimidating, and I felt extremely awkward at first. However, Leo made the experience fun and comfortable. Furthermore, we were blown away by Leo's dedication and ability to take advantage of every situation. This man does not stop working. He was snapping photos from the moment we woke up, to the moment we headed to bed. He is not afraid to experiment with different techniques. After a long day of hiking 9.5 miles against 25-30 mph winds, Leo continued his photography wizardry in the evening. We took photos during golden hour and some amazing nighttime shots that involved rigorous physical exertion on Leo's part (running around). Despite the wild weather conditions, Leo never complained or wavered. As an avid outdoorswoman, I was over our hike but Leo inspired me to keep trekking! He was a true trooper tackling the 30-mph-winds and long mileage. More impressively, his camera never stopped clicking. Leo didn't simply take photos at our destination, he was shooting during the whole hike. He found cool angles and sensational viewpoints. Due to the strong winds, my dress and hair were whipping in every direction. I could barely keep my eyes open with the wind and swirling sand. At times, I felt like I was on the verge of getting blown away. I was worried the photos wouldn't turn out well, but Leo went toe-to-toe with Mother Nature, and our pictures from that day were excellent. On the third and final day, we embarked on a short hike to a slot canyon. While it was a less strenuous day, the temperatures were in the low 40s. I was struggling to keep warm in my formal attire. Leo was extremely patient as I took numerous breaks to put on my jacket or switch out of my heels. At the end, he got some awesome "fashion shots". Leo had a quick turnaround and shared our engagement photos within a month. We are thrilled with the results. He captured many candid and fun behind-the-scenes moments. I was nervous that our photos would look staged or forced. (This is our top concern with wedding photography in general.) We don't want our pictures or ourselves to appear artificially constructed. However, Leo provided great guidance, even our posed pictures look natural (excluding the fashion shots as these are purposely posed). Furthermore, Leo's photo editing achieves a natural look. Wedding planning is stressful and overwhelming. Working with Leo has been our favorite vendor experience so far. Incredibly smooth and delightful; it's like hanging out with an old friend. As a photographer, Leo's vision and talents are superb. You're not going to get run-of-the-mill pictures. I looked and communicated with around 4-5 photographers before deciding on Leo. I chose Leo because I liked his portfolio and photo editing style the best. He had the most artistic flair and it looked like he put in time/work into the post-production of the photos. He was extremely responsive via email. This was crucial since I was planning a California wedding from New York. He was open to negotiating and made sure to work within my budget. For 8 hours of photo coverage it cost me a little over $4k. He has lots of videos and useful tips on his blog. Leo is the sweetest and friendliest guy! He photographed both my Vietnamese tea ceremony and my American-style ceremony and reception. He is soft-spoken, professional and was on-time for all events. I appreciated that he knew it was hot outdoors and that I didn't want my bridesmaid and myself to melt for the sake of a good photo. So instead, he had us take pictures in the shade which allowed for us to stay cool while taking advantage of the picturesque outdoor elements. He is versatile and can do different style photos as you can see from his portfolio. I wanted a more muted and matte tone to the photos and he executed that well. I only had him shoot photos for my wedding but you have the option of paying $500 for a second photographer to join him. I also had him for my instant photos that I took during cocktail hour. Instant photos is common in many Asian wedding and is when guests get to take a photo with a stationed bride and groom and get to have their photo printed immediately. The first few photos were a little slow so guests had to walk away and get their photo later. An hour was a little short for us to get photos with all of our guests but we did the best that we could. My aunt thought that the instant photo should have been taken a little closer up but I kind of liked that it was taken further back so you could see the full body and a bit of the nice decor in the background. I didn't give a list or instruction on what photos I wanted so I feared that photos of things like food, table decor, dessert table, etc. weren't taken but Leo took care of all of that. read more

This review is long overdue!! We booked Leo for our engagement shoot and our wedding. Almost one year later I still feel overwhelmingly happy looking at the photos we took because Leo and his team did such a great job capturing happiest moments! When we first met Leo at our consultation to get to know each other, he asked me why I would like him to photograph our wedding. For me, his portfolio stood out because I could feel the emotions of his subjects come through in his photos. He also has a great artistic eye for some really special artistic shots. My husband and I were nervous for our engagement shoot because we aren't used to being the center of attention. During the engagement shoot he gave us a reassuring "oh I can tell you two will be easy to photograph at the wedding!" which was a great confidence boost! A guest had even spilled red wine down the front of my gown right before our sparkler send off and when I asked Leo what I could do, he told me to just hold the front of my gown to cover up the stain - so he is experienced to tackle any obstacle! Our package included the wedding album and canvas print out so we could proudly display our favorite moments shot by Leo and his team, but it was so hard narrowing down our favorite shots. He always responds to emails promptly and was flexible leading up to the big day with my venue's ever changing guidelines due to COVID. On the day of the wedding, my husband and I were so impressed with his swift creativity and direction. Basically, he knows what he's doing!! He shared many previews a couple weeks after and I just couldn't believe it - he captured everything so well that they looked like they were straight out of Pinterest. Yayy Leo and team! My husband and I really loved Leo's eye for taking beautiful candid photos and portraits. We chose him because he had taken wedding photos at our venue before (and we liked the ones we saw from there). Our engagement shoot was SO MUCH FUN. We went to a park and beach in Santa Cruz, a first for all of us. We had a lot of laughs when the wave came crashing in.... and swept all of our stuff into the ocean... but luckily Leo's camera bag was saved by his quick hands! Lol Our wedding photos came out beautifully!! He is truly a master of finding the right background and best lighting and everything! We loved them all so much, we got hi-res for all of them because we couldn't choose a handful. :) The ONLY thing that we wished we got from our wedding photos was a portrait photo of us 2. We took a mini-photo shoot after the portraits, but there is no picture of just us 2 standing on the stairs and smiling. We have some lovely candids that we ended up blowing up and a photo from the couple shoot, but I can't help but wish we had a nice portrait-y portrait to put up at home. We had Leo and his team photograph our recent summer wedding. For me, the photographer was the most important decision. I had no interest in colors and flower arrangements and table settings etc. Sure those things look pretty but they are just temporary. Photographs capture a memory and are forever. I looked a long time for a photographer that shot with the style I was looking for. Leo and his team were professional and punctual, all while capturing beautiful images. The posed photos weren't really our style - we were more interested in the candids - but I'm sure we will laugh at them down the years. Leo did my wedding a year ago. I know it took me so long to do a review because I was so busy. Here I am writing about my experience. When I scheduled a consultation Leo was phenomenal at breaking down how the cost goes, asking questions about your expectations and vision on the wedding. I was very pleased with that, but also confused because I didn't understand what some of the questions meant. So, READ HIS BLOG. After I read it, I was able to make better decisions. Take time to study, Leo is really great at informing you about everything! He takes his time to research the place you are going to be on your wedding (venue, lighting, layout, colors, etc.) I planned my wedding in three weeks, so I did not get to do all that much research and homework, so I was not too prepared, which led Leo to work extra on my wedding day. Make sure you schedule time with Leo and the Venue, so he can have time to walk it with you. I didn't do this because I got married so quickly, so he really had a lot to do, but yet HE DID SPECTACULAR! Be flexible with the time schedule, and look at all the details. And if you're going to serve dinner after the photography session, make sure you have appetizers or you give something for them to watch, listen, or do. Leo and his team worked with me for my wedding in March 2016. I was trying to book a photographer only a few months in advance, had a budget smaller than what's normally required for a wedding in the Bay Area, and couldn't find a photographer who could meet those two requirements AND whose photos I actually liked. And then I came across Leo and his site, filled with photos that were natural and artistic. To be fully honest, I didn't like every single picture that I saw, but what really appealed to me was that I could see his photos getting better and better with each event he shot. I contacted him, and was super relieved to see that his fee was right around my budget. Leo and I met over FaceTime shortly before the wedding where we finalized all the details I had been sending him over email. He was very thorough and asked a lot of questions, which I appreciated. We were having 350+ people at our wedding, and a big part of the photography I wanted was someone who could take large group shots (50+) also. Which surprised him, but was totally willing to try (: Another thing we talked about was that there was rain forecasted for the wedding day. We talked about what our plans and options were and he assured me that it would be ok. Day-of: Leo shows up early with his team, which I was not expecting. I thought he was just bringing a second shooter, but he brought a team which was such a huge help. It did end up raining that day and so we went ahead with our plan B which was to try to shoot more interior shots at the UC Berkeley campus. The day was a whirlwind, but all I can say was that Leo and the guys were incredibly professional, willing to do anything, had a great attitude in the rain, worked hard, were patient, and were all smiles throughout. Post: Leo got me a preview slideshow THAT night after the reception. I was really touched by his dedication and throughout the next week, I got to see my wedding unfold through the different albums he started to upload into the gallery. It was special to be able to show my family (who we were visiting on our honeymoon and couldn't come to the wedding itself) photos so quickly. I was so thankful. Within a couple weeks, he had finished the photos and the gallery was done. What an amazing turnaround time (although I guess if he starts to book more and more weddings, this might not happen as fast!) I would highly recommend Leo. Leo Pham is an amazing photographer and we are honored to have worked with him as our engagement photographer. We took Leo with us on a three day engagement photo shoot / road trip from northern California to Death Valley. He captured everything, from beginning to end, and produced an amazing album containing incredible photos of landscape, delicate moments, and of course the actual photo shoot in the desert across a variety of backgrounds. Sunrise on open desert, salt basins in the merciless heat of mid-day sun, and sunset on the sand dunes, were all used effectively to create our dream photo shoot that lasted all day. Unlike other photographers we had contacted who generally limited their shooting to a few hours, Leo was willing to shoot at all hours in order to get the job done, fulfilling our vision and exceeding expectations. And I mean all hours - he even set up a night time shoot in the pitch black desert on a moonless night using some rather creative lighting trickery. After our trip was over, we expected a long turn around time given the sheer number of photos taken. Much to our surprise, Leo post processed and edited the photos with a very quick turn around time and we had our final product earlier than expected. We also had considerably more finished photos (over 530!) than expected. Whether your goal is to have a traditional photo shoot lasting several hours in more urban environments or something along the road less traveled, Leo is your man. Leo and his team are absolutely incredible! Our first meeting was over Skype. Right after we talked, my husband and I were sure we wanted to book him. He was professional, organized, and super friendly. The schedule he suggested was perfect and his experience clearly showed through his advice and approach. He puts maximum effort into getting the right shots, yet will never be obtrusive during the wedding (unless it is time dedicated to photos). My husband and I were extremely impressed with Leo and his team throughout the day of the wedding. They were so on top of everything and even had in-ear radios to coordinate with each other to get amazing shots and cover all parts of the wedding. We were so happy with him and his team and felt that they were such genuine and passionate people that we did a big group hug at the end of the night to celebrate the success of the day! There were no problems or difficulties and afterwards, he finished our photos in record time! I love the natural tones and style of the photos he shoots, I absolutely could not be happier with the results. I know we will cherish the photos for the rest of our lives.
