Unfortunately, he became ill and died before we could sign the final agreement. His heirs demanded we leave early in 2025. We incurred excess moving costs and lost 2025 guest revenue. When the heirs found a buyer for the property, they discovered their father had filed our long-term lease agreement with the County Clerk. We were asked to sign a Quitclaim Deed to assure the title company we had no continuing interest in the property. We used this leverage to demand compensation for our excess moving expenses and lost revenue. Before retaining Plastiras, I told him I had limited funds and discussed that he was to 'limit' his billing, not 'double-bill' and to be prudent. Plastiras agreed and I retained him. What a mistake!!! Plastiras proved incompetent on the legal matters and was clearly in it for the 'billing'. He literally tried to bankrupt me which advocating incompetently. He 'hired' his daughter who had just graduated from law school and was searching for a 'real' job. Plastiras billed her out at $350.00 per hour (for a new attorney). Plastiras is neither knowledgeable or professional (often late - and COMPLETELY unprepared). 6 months prior to my Trial and I had to terminate Plastiras (he couldn't even take a deposition properly). There are lots of attorneys out there who will advocate for you and who are not in the practice solely for money - Plastiras is not one of them. Do not retain.
