Cherryhurst is a great little Park located on the back streets of Montrose in Houston and it's not always the cleanest, but the community center here is a nice addition for the community and we've definitely had lots of nice walks around here and also spotted a lot of beautiful people here - and I'm not talking about ourselves but thattoo.

There weren't a ton of people there and the playground is a decent size, with swings, slides climbables, and plenty of shade and benches for the parents. The park also offers two tennis courts along with a wall to practice tennis against. All of the tennis facilities were full with some people waiting. It seemed like the natural progression was to start on the wall while you waited for a court to open up. There is plenty of parking and the surrounding neighborhood is safe and quaint. Great little spot!!

This photo is one for those voting for one particular party, whereas the line for the other political party was quite short. They are well staffed with helpful volunteers who direct, encourage,and thank you for voting. It's so organized. Aside from voting, this center does great things for the community and their changing needs. The avenues of addressing these needs varies as government policies change. This makes me even more committed to voting here. They do so much for Harris county, and the least I can do is show up to vote. Grateful for Ripley and all who actualize it.

It was difficult at times. My husband and I was about to give up. But Cornerstone never gave up on her. She was selected for program and at first, I thought they were just some people who going to get our hopes up. But Anastacia worked with her, held her accountable, and 1 year later my daughter is sober. She has been working consistently for year and has weekly visitations with kids. I was invited to come here for one of their legal classes. It was very nice to see how accommodating they are towards their community. This particular class consisted of mainly seniors. They were able to get an understanding of how to protect their assets and/or pass along to their love ones. As you walk in they have lots of brochures and business cards of all kinds of assistance.

So the new thing now is Kangoo Bounce workouts. Google it! It is a lot of fun, but it's definitely a workout . Anyway, this center offers those classes on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. The classes are $10 if you have your own shoes and $15 to rent the shoes. (reservation required) The Center also offers other free programs as well such as line dancing, circuit training, volleyball, Kids arts and Crafts, etc. They even offer computer classes for senior citizens, which is AWESOME. Check this place out. It's an old building, and not very modern, but places like this really do need to continue to exist in our communities!!

Have you seen a brand new community center completed with swimming pool and water features,…read morebasketball courts, tennis courts, baseball fields, cemented walking trail and a huge green space? Lucky for the residents nearby. I know this park is made for them by a few cues. I was checking out Wheatley High School before this weekend's big event and just happened to discover Finnigan Park. Driving here through Waco St got me kind of panicked. But once I entered this open modern space, my eyes lit up. I had a hard time to locate the park sign, so my search began. I saw the sign says, "Patrolled by sheriff..." wow, a person's name is on there. I walked the entire trail and saw few people walking and biking by. They looked at me like seeing an alien. Sure, I doubt any Asian would ever visit this neighborhood. These people dressed decent, unlike some youngsters with saggy pants on the streets of Sharpstown. Finnigan Park has a lot of histories behind, according to the city parks website (http://www.houstontx.gov/housing/20141201.html). I saw the monument says, "Partnership in Action" with Former Mayor Annise Parker and other dignitaries' recognition. I think the City of Houston did a good job creating a revitalized area for this neighborhood (http://www.houstontx.gov/parks/communitycenters/cc-finnigan.html). I hope the park remind the same shape in years to come.
