Looking for a supermarket that can think outside the limits of its own home brands and support an abundance of Australian made and owned products? Leo's is that place. Leo's reminds me of the best supermarkets in Adelaide, Foodland, stocking a similar range. The variety of organic, gluten free, and super foods is enough to inspire you to swear off the bad stuff, well for a few minutes anyway! Prices are slightly higher but when you're buying and supporting local I think it's worth it. Plus when you realise your exercising your right to buy outside of the big two, it's definitely worth it. Big fan! This place has everything that a normal big chain supermarket does plus beautiful, gourmet food as well. If you go when the sales are on, it's comparable to Coles/Woolies prices but in general it's more spendy. Huge gourmet cheese selection and great deli. Small parking lot in front but huge undercover lot in the back. read more

I got so freakin' excited when I discovered this place! So many different brands, so many health foods, so many dairy/sugar/gluten/animal product free items! I'm completely with Madeleine W. when she says it resembles Foodland in Adelaide - oh, how I miss my Foodland - with their eclectic mix of products and customers. My only complaint is that I couldn't find coconut flakes. Oh, woe is me. read more

Leo's is always a great experience. Tucked away from the main road Leo's offers a range of unique foods and brands. The quality is always great and fresh. Highly recommend it but be prepared if your after you BI-LO styled prices then back away quickly. read more

I love Leo's! Just a few blocks from where I was staying, it was a great amenity. Nice fresh fruit and baked goods (the lamingtons were above and beyond!) and I actually bought a lot of gifts to bring back to Canada, heaps of spices indigenous to australia packaged beautifully with write up's about how the Aboriginals used them. I really loved the swisspers aloe eye cream. This is a one stop shop! read more

I am a regular customer here but the Customer Service is appalling...my partner bought Weight Watcher's Cottage Cheese at Leo's Hartwell on July 17th, as this was the only day he could shop. The use by date was August 5th. I only opened it yesterday (July 26th) and it tasted strange. Today it was off. I just took it back and was told that you have to return goods within a 3 day period of purchasing them. The stand in Manager was called because I was made to feel like it was all my fault...had I kept it in the fridge or not? Unbelievable! I was spoken to like a naughty child. I was furious...all over an over priced $4 tub of cottage cheese that was off...there was never an apology from them. I was basically told to open my produce when purchased despite use by dates! read more

I buy here at least once / week, as I don't support big supermarket chains. Customer service here (at Kew) is appalling, however! Today I bought here 18 month old Gryere cheese, which had a sign in front of it as $54/kg. I even had a chat with the cheese lady, who explained to me the occurrence of white spots as protein breakdown and random, before cutting a large piece for me. After I paid a rather high amount, I queried the price at the register and found out the cheese lady processed the price as $77/kg - 50% higher than marked. The cheese lady was called and explained that $77/kg was correct, because this was a different 18 month old Gryere cheese of better quality. They refused to process the price as advertised. I spoke to manager Tom, who explained that they just didn't get around to put the correct price sign in front of the cheese and therefore they couldn't process it as advertised. Also they couldn't afford loosing money. At least they took the "better quality gryere" back, but when I was about to leave the shop, the manager stood at the exit with another cheese lady, who stated she overheard the other cheese lady stating the price to me before I bought (not true and even the original cheese lady never claimed this). What a bunch of incompetence there, especially from the manager. As stated before, I don't support large supermarket chains, but Coles and Woolworths would never argue like that over false advertising and in fact give you a false marked item for that price or for free... read more

Sick of buying "Home Brand" from the two major supermarket chains? The choice of goods available from this store must be seen to be believed. With a full selection of Australian produce and imported goods from all over the world there is an amazing array of products to choose from. I love shopping here and the prices aren't over the top as suggested elsewhere. I will drive from St Kilda for pleasure of being able to choose what I want rather than have it dictated to me by the big corporations. read more
