Lovely location overlooking the Capitole in the middle of town center. They appear to do a brisk business and were busy throughout our lunch. We were seated quickly, but it took a long time to get service and water at the table. Non-smokers, beware. We were surrounded an all sides by tobacco cigarettes and vaping. Ash trays on all tables. Portions were generous, but flavor was minimal. Chicken was moist, vegetables were softer than I enjoy. Fries were average. Apple pie was served hot, but I found it bland (spouse did enjoy it). Great location on the Capitol Plaza. The patio is large and shaded with an unobstructed view of the Capitol. I started with the fois Gras, served with confit, toast and jam which was incredibly buttery (fatty) and mild, but WAAY over salted (to the point that I couldn't enjoy the dish) . It was like eating a pat of butter that had been rolled in course salt. A disappointing start. For my my entree, my waiter recommended the grilled calamari, a special and not on the menu. After the fois Gras, I admit that I was very nervous. The calamari arrived piping hot and was perfectly seasoned, perfectly grilled, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled generously with crispy pan fried garlic. Devine! The dish came with a yummy side of mixed shredded veggies (also grilled with olive oil) and rice. The day was saved! I would return, however, would avoid the Fois Gras and would stick to the waiters recommendations. read more

Plenty of outdoor seating in the Capitole de Toulouse. So very central. Had the plat du jour, Moules Marinières, and it was amazing! Every bite, you can tell every mussel was well-seasoned and marinated. Paired the dish with a Chardonnay, which was buttery and smooth. Ended with an espresso, also wonderful. Tasted nutty, balanced. Overall, great place for dinner. Some helpful information for visitors: They also speak English in the case that you struggle with French. Further, they also accept Diners Cards, which might be helpful if you don't use the big giants (Visa or MasterCard). Nearby, they also have several ice cream and gelato spots! Very friendly and attentive staff. Delicious coffee and bread. Not a large breakfast menu, but you can get coffee and a croissant by itself or a full "petit dejeuner" which includes coffee, Julie, bread, croissant, butter and jam. This was a huge mistake and ruined my whole plan for the day. Bought the lunch menu 17€ with shrimp salade and fried duck and non-alcoholic cocktail ( which tasted like a syrup, didn't even finish it). An Hour later got FOOD POISONING. Spent the rest of the day vomiting to trash bins in the busy shopping streets. My day trip visiting museums and landscapes ruined because of this. Instead Spent the whole afternoon with a nasty nausea and sleeping the public park to recover. This was a shitty experience. Do not recommend. read more

We were on day 21 of a wonderful month long road trip through Europe when we stopped in Toulouse for lunch on our way from Barcelona to Bordeaux. We very much regret taking a gamble on this restaurant. We've had so many wonderful culinary experiences on this holiday. Thankfully, this place has been the exception to the rule. It appears similar to many touristy areas of France - a brasserie with outdoor accommodations bordering a square. We were headed to a different place when we decided to give it a shot. Biggest disappointment of our trip. Quickly realized we were caught in a trap (not quoting Elvis). Overpriced mediocre food was in our future. Ugh. Hate the feeling of paying too much for crap. Oh well, we thought one average dining experience won't kill us. We ordered wine for two and entrees for four in our party of five. In short, the chicken was bland but nicely tenderized; the beef was bland and tough (terrible cut), the sausage and the lasagna were fine, but need improvement for more than a 3 star rating. One of our party was not feeling well and ordered a carafe of wine so as to not be rude and simply occupy space - more than the price of an entree. Considerable pressure to order food in spite of offering an explanation. Very rude. Maybe Toulouse is more backward than the rest of France? We have driven from Paris to cote D'azur to Barcelona. This is the first annoying and disappointing experience of our vacation (thankfully). Upon leaving, an older blonde employee approached us and asked us if we needed the "L'addition". We replied that we had paid assuming they were just disorganized and, then it became clear that she was going to pursue this as if we were "dine and dashing". It didn't occur to us immediately since we would never do such a thing. After realizing, we had good laugh that we should have refused to pay. Such bad food is fraud right? She didn't stand down until it was confirmed by staff that we had indeed paid. What? No apology? Nice. How very sad to make these unprofessional presumptions in public. Les Arcades- You should consider your process for handling these situations with more poise and decorum. Presumably you have a high number of tourists from all over the world and you don't want your inability to treat customers with respect to be their parting memory. On a side note, our server was just fine. He was diligent and on point. Too bad the support staff overshadows. If you are visiting Toulouse, I would spend your money and time elsewhere.
