I wish you could give it 6 stars. This is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. Top of line all…read morethe way around. And the views... Oh my gosh... The views! The check in and check out procedure is so personal. They sit you down and treat you as one on one. Unlike anything I have ever experienced. Upon checkout, they give you a small parting gift too. The dinner was fantastic albeit small portions but 8 courses! The cheese bar is out of this world with 20-30 different cheeses. You can also get cheese to go if you want. As much as you want. They have a neat little cigar bar with Cubans of course. The breakfast buffet in the morning was fantastic with plenty to eat. Oddly, we never got to the spa or pools but we did check them out. Next time... If there is a next time.

The town of Lenk is very small but oh so beautiful! Very fortunate the weather was clear and warm compared to the rest of my rainy and grey trip. It is a journey to get to the resort. I was coming from Salzburg which was about an 8hr journey. If you're coming from Zurich it's about 2.5 hrs and if you're coming from Bern it's about 1.5hrs, all by train. Long story short, since I was coming from Salzburg the journey took longer than expected and we didn't check in till about 21.30. We were so tired and hungry when checking in they could sense how exhausted we looked and they called the restaurant to see if they would stay open for us and they said yes! We immediately went to eat and the servers never rushed us and they treated us so well. I was very grateful they stayed open late for us. Tips/Comments: The website, at least for me, was very difficult to get information on what was included in my booking. Friends were the ones who told me about this place and I just mimicked the same packaged they got. So when we arrived I felt like such a cheapo asking if this and that was included b/c i just didn't know. So with the gourmet package dinner AND breakfast is included. Couldn't find a place on site to eat lunch except for in the Sauna they have this vegan broth that provided some substance. Also the contents in your mini fridge are included as well (thank god!). It was the first and only part of our trip where we had free water. Speaking of which, note that most of Europe's drinking water comes from Switzerland so drinking the water from tap is completely ok, even at the airport. When you're at the fancy dinner you can ask for free tap water as well. You also get a city card that lasts the duration of your stay. Highly recommend taking the lifts up to the top (about a 20minute ride) and the views are worth it. If you ever wonder why the town seems empty or quite it's because everyone is on that mountain hiking down. And let's not forget the sulphur pools and sauna. The pool is wonderful and just note that the Sauna's are nude. I get nude is totally an ok thing for Europeans but I'm sorry, my American-ness just couldn't strip down. They do provide a thin towel that I wore to cover up while i was in the sauna, just don't expect anyone else to do the same. Also, don't talk in the saunas. You will get scolded. Last but not least, if you decide to go into town and eat food off site its is VERY expensive. My lunch of a soup, salad, and coke was 38 swiss franks. 0_0

First our room ...it was a lovely suite, with awesome balcony, floor to ceiling window views overlooking the LAKE and alpine mountains beyond. Simply breathtaking. I could easily have lived there ( no seriously) for a month ( if finances allowed) ! Very reminiscent of The Gilded Age, this hotel property has been updated but maintains its old world charm & elegance. If I didn't have a desire to see all the beauty surrounding me in Montreux, I may have Just lounge Md around in our room & enjoy the hotels many offerings! My husband's favorite part was the brunch/ Breakfast..served in a Conservatory (glass enclosed) space with views overlooking the lake & mountain vistas! Lots of fresh offerings enough to satisfy even the pickiest eater. The LOCATION, also a big part of our ease of stay. Very short walk from the rail ( train) which runs like a reliable SWISS clockwork! Clean, and timely rail cars make using the trains in Switzerland a real asset to a traveler eager to see many sights! Overall I loved this hotel, and Montreux. Switzerland has my heart! Hope to return in the near future. Possibly to their famous JAZZ FESTIVAL!

As we now spend a lot of time traveling as I was planning the finale of our two weeks in Switzerland I was seduced by the sirens song of the Palace-beautiful belle époque exterior right on the lake. Plus at over $1,000 a night, I had high expectations. Unfortunately these expectations proved impossible to meet: PLUS: we booked a superior lake view king, but were "upgraded" to a two-rooom suite in the oldest part of the hotel on a very low floor. MINUS: Arrived at the hotel-had to wait 90 minutes past "guaranteed" 4 pm check-in time for our room, although the desk staff parked us in the bar and bought us a drink while we waited. PLUS: across the street or via underground walkway you can reach a new, beautiful spa. We spent a nice afternoon there PLUS: our rate included the lavish breakfast buffet with eggs cooked to "order" MINUS: service is very hit/miss at the hotel. At breakfast instead of eggs Benedict we got a hard poached egg on a dense muffin had after a long wait. Another day in an empty restaurant it took 20 minutes to get a single egg scrambled with tomato. PLUS: the rooms have AC that does a great job Minus: my request on the first morning to fix a noisy AC FAN never happened -lucky it was the sitting room and not the main bedroom. PLUS: we had a two room suite to spread out Minus: the small cramped bathrooms (yes we had 2) had showers the size of phone booths. Bottom line: in my opinion this hotel isn't geared for people like us-luxury travelers looking for a memorable experience. Instead this is a mass-market hotel solely focused on groups and incentive travel. A large Mary Kay convention was in house during the first half of our stay followed by an Edward Jones group. There was also a wedding. Staff is kept busy managing their banquets and events and the individual traveler can get lost in the shuffle. Even the concierge desk is only intermittently staffed. I don't think I could recommend this hotel to a friend-certainly not at $1000 a night (maybe at $500).

W Verbier is a throwback to what the W hotels used to be like with their tasteful and cheeky modern design, plentiful considered amenities and great service. Actually the service here is better than any W I've ever stayed at, even before the Marriott purchase. We were provided with a personalized tour of the facilties, a welcome gift, and a very warm reception from the staff at the front. When they learned our check out had to be really early in order to take a car two hours away to catch a train, the staff arranged for the private driver and made sure we had breakfast packed for our morning journey. Fabulous! The rooms are fun cross between quirky modern W design and chalet, just as you'd expected. Ours came with a large balcony overlooking the valley and the cable cars which couldn't be more appropriate for this kind of place. I do take issue with the tedency of some W hotels to partially expose the bathrooms; this should be an option to enable rather than the default as not every stay is going to result in lewd behavior but it's a nitpick. The only minor gripe with the hotel is the main restaurant brasserie is just O.K. While the design of the space is spectacular and the service is great, the food is standard issue Switzerland: just O.K. and extremely expensive. Overall, wonderful. Recommended.
