Even those with more casual interest in beer probably know that DDC makes really great drinks. And yep, they were excellent. I wasn't there to do a long session, so I got a couple tasters, one including Peche Mortal and the other a NEIPA. Two very different styles and both extremely well done. Beyond that, the space had a very old-fashioned look. Really nice wooden fixtures and a very warm, welcoming vibe. The server was also attentive and friendly, but also knew when to let people sit back and enjoy their drinks. You probably don't need me to tell you, but yes, you should go.

He expressed interest in hitting up some breweries, so I did some research and compiled a few we could potentially visit. Brasserie Dieu du Ciel was one of them, and it just so happened we were in its vicinity after our Mile End food tour concluded. That being said, we made our way over. While I am not a beer person myself, I'll have a round or two if I'm with a group, and can appreciate a good brewery. My first impression of Dieu du Ciel was just that - the vibes were on walking in. The space is pretty large - kinda separated into semi- compartmentalized spaces with tables throughout. There's not much decor, but medium-toned woods throughout which gave it a sort of upscale feel. They offer a food menu, but we were just here for drinks. They have a really wide selection of beer - again, I'm no connoisseur, but I could tell that the selection was way more than other breweries I've been to. I ended up getting a cider for the first round and a stout for my second round - both very good. Service was great, and overall we enjoyed our time at Dieu du Ciel. Their selection and comfortable setting made it a standout brewery for me out of the ones I've visited in Montreal - I wouldn't hesitate to return.

I ordered the ribs and wings and asked for an extra bit of brisket. The ribs were thick and juicy. They also had a good bite and were not fall off the bone, which is what I prefer. They could've had a little more sauce though. The wings were OK. They were a medium size and the honey garlic sauce that I got was average. The brisket was not good. It was dry. Extra Caesar salad for three dollars wasn't worth it. It was OK but not three dollars worth of stuff. Staff took a long time to get her order. We had a group of 16 and we were only assigned one person. She took quite a while to get our things and that was a little annoying.

My husband, our little girl dog and I decided to have dinner here on a Friday night. We walked in around 6:10 pm and were seated immediately by the hostess. After looking over the menus, we ended up ordering: Jumbo Bavarian Pretzel, $16.25 prior to tax- This jumbo soft pretzel came with a side of mustard and a side of beer cheers. The size of this pretzel was bigger than I was expecting and surprised that it hung on a hook. One order is really perfect to share with 3 other people. I loved the beer cheese and preferred it much more over the mustard. Lowertown Salad, $18.75 prior to tax- I wanted something healthy and so I opted for a salad. I had asked our server to place the dressing on the side but I guess he forgot to put that in the order since my dressing wasn't on the side. This salad was a good size to share with another. It came with a nice spring mix, dried cranberries, shredded carrots, sliced cucumbers, goat cheese. The salad was good and did taste fresh. Butchers Experience, $39.95 prior to tax- This massive meal comes with 4 ribs, brisket, quarter chicken, cole slaw, a side and a small corn bread. My husband picked fries. This meal is really more than enough to share with 3 people. The chicken was good and the brisket was okay. The ribs were also fine. But I have had better barbecue. 20 oz El Camino- My husband opted for a beer. I wasn't a fan of it but he liked it. ---------------------------- (Total= $97.06 after tax, prior to tip) I was afraid that because we were sitting outside, that I thought the service would not be attentive. But our server was pretty good at checking up on us throughout our meal, refilling our water and taking away dirty dishes. After we were given menus by our server, the hostess that sat us earlier was so very kind to bring a bowl of water for our little girl (I didn't even ask, she just brought it out for her). Overall, we had a great and positive dining experience. I would consider coming back here again the next time we visit downtown Ottawa.

You gotta make your fun where you find it, and bring it on home! So, we recently stopped in at the Carp Fair Grounds for the Carp Farmers' Market (a whole new experience during the pandemic! But this is for another review :-) ) On the way to the Fairgrounds, we passed by the new Ridge Rock Brewing Co., and we were very impressed with the big patio out the back of the building. Since we do enjoy craft beer, we decided to stop by on the way home from the farmer's market on this day. First of all, the brewery is in an updated red brick building on the corner of Carp Rd. and Donald B. Munro Dr. There is a seating area or two to your left as you enter, and a reception / cashier on the right, where they also sell souvenirs (cool!) It's nice and bright in here, and I can't wait until we can sit inside again, and share good times at one of these tables. On the day we were here, we were 2nd in line, but nobody was at the cash. We waited for not more than 5 minutes for the server to get back. She was friendly, informative, and efficient, and didn't take long to get to us. We picked up an 8-pack of a variety of beers: 2 Blonde, 2 Amber, and 2 Late Harvest, as well as 1 each of Lett Kveik and Spro Kveik - specialties of this brewery. I couldn't wait - we shared a can of the Amber over lunch. It was very tasty! I look forward to going back, hopefully to dine-in, at some point over the summer.
