I stopped by this morning for croissant and orange juice. This is a lovely little bakery and the staff here is very friendly. The croissant is of true Parisian quality, flaky, soft, and delicious. The orange juice was with zero doubt fresh pressed with beautiful color, tart and sweet. Unfortunately I am only spending one night here, been to Paris many times so heading South today. Luckily I will be spending my last night at the same hotel and I'll be back here enjoying croissant, orange juice, and more of their offerings. Splendid! read more

Pastries in France honestly hit different. I came here every single day during my last visit in the morning and sometimes the afternoon since my hotel was close by. I had absolutely no regrets and writing this review is making me miss all the delicious pastries that I had while I visited. Les Caprices de Charlotte is my go-to spot for the perfect croissant and an absolutely divine cup of latté. It's kinda-sorta on a side street, 14 rue de castellane, yet still in the heart of Paris. I fell in love with the small café charm, the early hours with the freshest smell of baked goodies, and the fact that they only speak French. Oui! I seriously feel like Johnny Depp as Roux every morning! "Bonjour monsieur" is my greeting every morning as I enter Les Caprices de Charlotte. I've only been an early morning bird thus far, however I've heard that lunchtime sandwiches and bites are just as delicious. Next time! A small price to pay being Parisian, right? I came here for breakfast this morning. We ordered a chocolate croissant and a regular croissant. Apparently if you take it to go it is slightly cheaper than to stay and eat at the store. The regular croissant was absolutely delicious and buttery tasting. Hubby said the chocolate croissant was sweet but good. read more

This was a really great find near our hotel in Paris. Just a short walk to find the most amazing raspberry tarts! We had croissants here also, which were better earlier in the day than later in the day but overall everything we tried here was great. I came back twice after the first raspberry tart to get more tarts! Even though I don't speak French, the staff here was very friendly and helpful, which was very refreshing as I did not find this the case in many places in Paris. I would definitely come back here for desserts the next time I'm in Paris. read more

Les Caprices de Charlotte fulfilled every hope and idea I had about what a pastry or baked good from a Parisienne boulangerie would taste like! Got the classic croissant. Wowwowowow. So soft. Pillow-y. Melts in your mouth. By gosh, this place is awesome! We tried all the neighboring bakeries around and by far this was the the freshest and the best. This place was more mom and pop and the stuff was fresh, not like some other places we've came across. We tried just about everything except for the quiches. The croissants, pain au chocolat, and baguettes are wonderful, the raspberry tart is delish, the sandwiches are varied and fillings change daily, even the premade crepes weren't bad. The only thing I wasn't terribly fond of here were the eclairs and the mille-feuille, as they were a touch too sweet and the macarons seemed like grocery store bought. There are better macarons to be had in Paris (hint: not Lauduree or Pierre Herme, but Carette!!! Their chocolate hazelnut macaron is amazing but Pierre Herme's jasmine is wonderful too.) The first few visits, service wasn't the friendliest, but by the end of the week the servers warmed up to us just fine. This bakery is a real hidden gem! read more

We were looking for a bakery close to our hotel and found Charlotte. The bakery was very busy with continuous flow of people coming in for take away. We decided to do both. We sat there and got freshly squeezed orange juice, Café au Lait, chocolate bread, croissant and quiche Lorraine. Everything was delicious. We had just stopped at another bakery yesterday and got croissants and this was even better, plus it was warm which helped. Upon leaving, we got a coffee eclair, lemon tart and a baguette. Staff was very friendly, especially when patiently working with a big Asian group infront of us. Also a favorite among locals although primarily the only ones sitting were tourists. The price to eat there can be up to a euro in addition per pastry which seems like a high markup. read more

HAIR IN FOOD GROSS! had high hopes for this cafe, but I found my experience to be quite miserable. The food was overpriced and the staff was dreadful, miserable, rude, and disrespectful. After I had ordered, I asked to eat my food inside the cafe and they accidentally gave it to me to go. When I made them aware of this mistake the employee at the cash register was very rude to me and she redid my entire order to charge me more for eating at the cafe. She was loudly groaning and being very rude to me. I felt unwelcome and uncomfortable. Once I had gotten the quiche I had ordered in about ten minutes, I found it to be too rich and unseasoned. There was a long piece of black hair in it. The atmosphere was depressing and there was no music. As an English speaker it was difficult to order. My bread and sweet shop of choice. The personnel is always hyper nice (they speak a basic english), baguettes at 1euro very good, baguettes tradition for 1,20euros VERY good at any time of the day. They have often samples close to the cashier, feel free to have a go. The pain de campagne is very good too, just normally priced. I can easily recommend any viennoiserie (croissants, pains au chocolat, chaussons...) but I must over all recommend their "toiles aux amandes" (buttery thin biscuits with almonds) and most of all their cheesecake (3,20eur/piece). The place has a good public at lunchtime, for their sandwhiches or small dishes (not cheap, but good). CB accepted from a minimum of 5 or 8 euros. The man with greyish hair, always smiling, is the owner and main patissier. Will always be happy to reply to your curiosities. Not the cheapest breadshop ever, but seen the neighbourhood pretty good, not too fancy, sincerely better than Paul and cheaper (other than almost at the same level about "simple" things) than Eric Kayser or Julien. read more

This wonderful bakery is use a block from our hotel and boy is it a find! Their croissants maybe the best I've ever eaten and they have a good selection of quiche/ tarte. It's abreast spot for a large breakfast for half the price our hotel charges. Don't forget a big glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. The very nice lady who waited on us does not speak a lot of English, but by pointing and using my very limited high school French, we were able to enjoy a wonderful breakfast. TRES BON! read more

This is our second visit to Paris and found that this is our favorite bakery for breakfast. They have delicious espresso, the best fresh squeezed orange juice, and some of the best bread and pastry selections. The flakiest croissants! The entire staff is friendly and the owner himself has been so kind to us at each of our visits. The interior is clean, well decorated, and offers ample seating. A perfect spot to sit and enjoy breakfast. We chose to sit at the counter and watch the activity of the staff as they brought out the fresh pastries.
