Chocolate almond croissant with a cappuccino
    Diane R.

Wow! I got the chocolate almond croissant filled with almond paste and took a lot sprinkled with powdered trigger and slivered almonds delicious. They also have cappuccinos there, so of course I got one of those as well. All in all I can highly recommend this place.

Great food and good service! Our first stop in Paris and it was a great one! The staff was friendly and helpful! Fortunately their English was way better than my French. We love our food!

Parisian boulangeries are where yesterday's shortcomings are washed away and given new zeal. They're a beautiful, coexisting jungle of chaos, yeast and euphoria. Maison Marnay is one of the finest bakeries in Paris. In a sea of 8 million people, I'm convinced that my small dent into the local dining scene was meant to bump into this little, whimsical patisserie. Signs you're at a legit French bakery: 5-star Yelp reviews + a long ass line of locals! The closer and closer we got to the front, the more indecisive I became. But then, just then, I was struck with a temptation for decadence. I NEEDED CHOCOLATE. And Great Scott. The Chocolate Tart was truthfully outstanding. I'm not a seeker of desserts or sweets, but this, this was untainted elation. A culinary expose of the contemporary meets classic. The texture simply transformed my perception of what pastry can be. Maison Marnay, exclusively superlative, exclusively Paris.

This bakery was the best boulangerie I have eaten from. We stayed at an Airbnb that was walking distance to here. Every morning, we would get a few things from here for breakfast. Everything was so delicious! Too bad we didn't stay longer, or else I could have tried all their products. We tried both types of baguettes (normal & traditional), chocolate eclair, strawberry tart, croissant (butter & chocolate), citron tart, mini apple pie, mille-feuille. Everything was so delicious, but my most favorite was their baguettes, croissants (butter & chocolate) and the strawberry tart. Highly recommended!! Since coming back to NYC, I miss their baked goods very much. P.S - try to be respectful by ordering in french. Like the saying "when in France, do as the French do". I was proud as I ordered in broken French - the staff appeared more friendlier (than when I spoke to them in English).

It's hard to find a bad croissant in a Parisian bakery when I pay more than $4 for an almost authentic croissant at a bakery owned by a Parisian back home in San Francisco. Let me tell you something: those prices are anything but authentic... I had no doubt that the croissants here were going to be delightfully flaky and airy as soon as I stepped inside the bakery and joined the line of locals. The employees didn't speak much English, but I was able to order a few croissants and some sandwiches in my broken French with the help of some hand gestures and their patience. We had the smoked salmon sandwich and the BBQ chicken sandwich for lunch. I wasn't a big fan of the latter; there was so much BBQ sauce that it would've tasted the same had it only consisted of two slices of bread smothered in BBQ sauce. Please stock up on croissants for breakfast here in honor of my poor croissant-craving wallet in San Francisco.

    Koign-Amann: €1,90

As far as French bakeries go, I think Maison Marnay wins regardless of what you feel like. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? You've got friendly folks within this emporium of carbohydrates, and while the lines can grow long and at peak time the crowds can congest things a bit, Maison Marnay really is a beautiful shop. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? The prices are more than reasonable at Maison Marnay, and in my case €1,90 was somehow all is cost for a full sized Koign-Amann, which was a fantastic price point. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Everything, and I mean everything, that my buddy and I sampled at Maison Marnay was amazing. The Koign-Amann? Among the best I've had. The macarons? Excellent. The lemon mereigne? The best I've had. Wonderful. Two Stars. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? Absolutely. Star.

    Amazing bread!

Friendly, amazing food, efficient, not over priced. So... the opposite of the rest of the area!

Our favorite bakery in Paris. We ordered 2 bread thingies the size of our hands (don't remember what they were labeled as) for $1.30 euros each. One was filled with salmon and cheese and the other with olive and cheese. Such a good deal! Every bite was bursting with flavor and the bread was soft, chewy, and moist inside with a fragrant aroma abs the crust ha the perfect bite and crunch, especially around the corners and edges. Mmm, dying to come back for more. If I lived in Paris, I'd want to come here every day to try a new bread or pastry!

Great spot for a quick coffee and a croissant. One of the best croissants on our entire trip! Hidden gem. Best service.

Awesome pastries and paninis. Once we found their place, we put it in daily rotation for the balance of the trip.

Another great boulangerie. This place is slightly larger than the one down the street with a…read moreslightly wider selection. It gets a cheaper rating but I thought the prices were very comparable to the other boulangeries in the neighborhood.Again they had great croissants (I tried them at every boulangerie we visited) and their large macaron "sandwiches" were also delicious (although not my MOST favorite of the ones we tried in Paris). This place was also just a few steps from our apartment so we visited it a lot as well. None of the women that served us during the week spoke English but again, you don't need much in a boulangerie. The service was always friendly and efficient. Often this place was busy but service was quick. No outdoor seating, and they were open until 8pm which was awesome. Later in the day you'll find that pastries and bread are not as fresh but even though we got macaron "sandwiches" at 7pm and they seemed a little damp from the fresh fruit in them, the taste was delicious. The outer shells of the macarons were slightly tough but the overall texture wasn't bad. the berries (we tried frambriose and fraise, or raspberry and strawberry) were incredibly fresh and tasty. I'm sure if we had purchased them earlier in the day they would have been even better. We also had the coffee eclairs and they were amazing!!! I don't care that much for eclairs as I do no like the type of bread used for them, but these were good enough that I'd get them again. The filling was rich and the coffee taste was outstanding.
