    One of the great bars....
    Owen R.

One of the greatest bars in Canada! First floor has tons of space; great bartenders. Upstairs it's a bit of a maze but also very cool, an institution in Montreal; with good reason! $2 bottles of beer $4 glasses of wine Unheard of in Toronto, come to mtl!

Wow, I can't believe how long I've been going to Les Foufounes Electriques! I think I started going back in 2001 or 2002 when I was on tour, and nothing's changed. It's a dingy cash only punk rock/metal bar. I don't know, maybe it just reminds me of "back in the day" on tour times, but I like this spot. Didn't hurt that when I went in they had $4 La Fin du Monde bottles. Was that happy hour pricing or is it always that cheap? Wish I could rewind time and go here after a concert with a room full of people who saw the show and wanted to party!

Hell yes! Can I uproot this place and bring it back to Vancouver? This is one of the biggest alternative pubs I have been to, and one of the best. I was surprised that an establishment this big could exist without a kitchen, as I know the bylaws in Vancouver are VERY different when it comes to drinking. The cool thing about Montreal people is that they just like to drink and party, it doesn't matter that the place is "alternative" and attracts punks, goths, and alterna-jocks. We actually can all live together in one place! Hurray! I came here last time I was in Montreal, and we came back today for a mid-afternoon drink, and by the time we left, the place was overloaded with Habs fans, who are probably still getting shit-faced because the Habs won game 7! Woohoo! I started with a cesar and ended with a pitcher of sangria, and both were decent. At FouFounes, you will find yourself surrounded by photographic art, tables that have been decorated with band posters, and gates decorated with really cool iron sculptures. The DJ booth is especially rad, and one day I hope to grace it with my rock-n-roll styles. The bathrooms downstairs are spray painted with graffiti, and look super punk rock, and the men's room is great for a photo op - empty or not! J'adore Foufounes!

I love this place because it reminds me the old University time!! We used to go there to drink and party, so much fun. I just went back with friends to celebrate a going away party for an employee and it has not changed, same super cheap pichet de biere et amazing ambience. I had forgotten about the downstairs bathrooms, these were a little scary. Seriously, we had amazing local craft beer in pitcher and the service was actually very good. The music was loud but we could still have conversation, it was fun to go back! Oh! And I forgot to say how cool that artwork is, super nice and creative!

I want to love this place because I love the music and the artwork everywhere but 2 stars fell off because of the pitiful service

Very nice place to drink cheap beer and play pool. Cool place with not loudly music and not so busy.

Favourite part of the new graffiti going up. The space chicken!

Cheap beer, good decoration, and free arcade games. Could do without the angsty nu-metal though.

The first time, the music was extremely loud, and it seemed like they were short-staffed. The bar was completely packed, and there was only one bartender making drinks, so the wait was a bit longer than expected. We decided to give it another try, and I'm so glad we did. The second visit was amazing! The bartender working that night was incredible--she clearly knows her craft and made our drinks quickly without sacrificing quality. Every cocktail was delicious, and the overall experience was much more enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend The Coldroom. My only suggestion would be that, with a space that busy, the bar could really benefit from having an additional bartender during peak hours. It would help keep wait times down and make an already great experience even better.

We got seated in the lounge area and I ordered a dirty martini to start. Our server, Christine was so nice and I enjoyed chatting with her. I also ordered a negroni which was very good. They had a DJ arrive at one point who was playing a bit of like easy house music - you know the kind that sounds like one long song and has no words? It added to the vibes and I enjoyed it. Would definitely return and think it's a solid spot to go out for cocktails that is a little more festive than a chill bar.

Bartenders were very friendly and helpful, and actually looked like they enjoyed their jobs as they helped contribute to the fun relaxed atmosphere. Drinks were creative and delicious. Music they play is the typical chill/lounge/downtempo/electronic where after a while it all sounds the same, but it's perfect for the ambiance and it's not too loud. Drink menu is only available through the web site, which is annoying (to me), but easy enough to overlook.

THIS WAS AMAZING…read more food here was flawless, every dish was absolutely perfect and creative. the ingredients are top shelf quality and put together with tons of care. I had the most amazing meal here. Genuinely the BEST beef tartare i've ever had in my life, it was chopped perfectly and flavor wise just absolute perfection. Rich, cheesy but still fresh and the beef flavor was present and well seasoned. Focaccia was great as well, the grill flavor really stuck with me and was a perfect touch of crunch and flavor. I enjoyed my leeks as well, i've never had them prepared this way so it was a unique touch. Their cocktails were good with some nice twists on classics, I got the oolong old fashion which was a pretty classic old fashion with a slight tea after taste. the highlight of the meal though was the desert . it was brûlée bananas with a chocolate cheesecake and omg that was the best touch to the meal ever. we got the wine pairing with it as well and they went together like bread and butter. the wine was sweet but had a fruitier taste to counteract the richness of the banana and chocolate. it was the most delightful experience and wasn't a bank breaker either. service here was attentive and amazing, extremely friendly and informative. the ambiance was on the fancier side, with darker lighting. during my time in montreal, this restaurant easily took home my favorite.

The service was friendly but they seemed short staffed that night. We were trying to refill our water glasses but it took a while since I couldn't find any waiter or waitress around. Now let's start with the food: Focaccia: 5/5 bread was warm, toasty and tasty but the dip was the highlight Leeks with smoked mackerel, mustard, tobikko: (2.5/5) too creamy with a hint of mackerel and leeks Calamari chou-fleur, asian pear, chili beurre blanc: (2/5) very soupy and too much cream and not flavorful Black cod miso sauce, daikon, kale: (2.5/5) cod was tender but my bite had too much miso on it. It was extremely salty and not well balanced Beef tartare with mushrooms, Asiago: (1/5) mushy texture and way too much Asiago cheese. Flank steak with burnt chili salsa, szechuan pepper sauce, pickled peppers: (2/5) steak was not tender at all and the sauce was overwhelming Fried sea bass with bok choy, soya, nuoc mam (3/5): presentation was great but too many bones with too little meat. Flavor was good and I enjoyed the warm crispy fish with the Vietnamese style salad Overall, my special dinner was disappointing. I felt like the main ingredient never shined and their cheese or cream or sauce were just too overpowering. I really wanted to like Cadet but it fell short of my expectations.

The Venue, in comparison to anything I've experienced in my life, would be in the top 5 favorite venues, great layout, and phenomenal sound. Getting to see my favorite band of all time, In Flames was very close to a religious experience, being on the floor, everyone around me was singing every single word, lots of movement, stomping feet (wow) and a plethora of horns in the air. There is something I've experienced in this venue that I've not experienced anywhere in all my concert going, there are dedicated people who walk around with drink trays and a mobile debit machine, what great and game changing service (Toronto could learn a thing or two) Having a tiny complaint, the lighting for the back floors was not bright enough for the atmosphere, I thought it was my eyes, but it was not, as this area felt super dark all throughout the performance of all four bands. I'm in love with this venue, and this neighborhood, I can't wait to come back and experience a headline show for my favorite band of all time, with the crazy metalhead concert going community of Montréal 5+/5
