The bar is dark but not seedy, there's a low stage, big screen and second level mezzanine that looks down on the action below. The layout is great for visibility - lots of low tables around the stage, high tops in the back, plus the mezzanine. And the waiters are amazingly fast and efficient, they move through even a thick crowd smoothly delivering fresh drinks before you can blink. Fridays they show RuPaul's Drag Race to a cheering passionate crowd and the vibe is delicious, can't wait to go back!

They have a cocktail of the month, which was an Old Fashioned this month. Our group ordered several, and they were ok, but I noticed some inconsistency among them. One of the people in my party was offered a wing by another group - he really liked it and ordered some. We never got them, so I guess they forgot to put in the order. But we also forgot we had ordered them, so it was pretty much forget it and move on.

We were able to snag two seats at the bar, and the bartender was so nice. A few minutes in to being there I saw the DJ set up in the corner of the bar. Now, if there's something I love more than a fun bar, it's a fun DJ. Put the two together, and I likely am never leaving. Somewhere between the beers and the sweet sounds of throwback jams like Justin Bieber, Hannah Montana and others I was having the best time ever. I noticed the bar had pool tables, so if you want to hang and chill this is a great spot. Would definitely go back.

The drink menu is more of the same ; every cocktail we had was overloaded with unnecessary ingredients as if they were trying to use every one of their drinks at once. The first floor is pretty chill and relaxed and the upper floor are more dance/twirk oriented. Try to get there a little early, make some friends on the first floor and go upstairs to dance the night away. Both the clients and staff are very friendly and helpful. Last year, I lost my wallet and someone turned it in but all of my money and credit cards where still present. :) The drinks are relatively cheap. But, it you are a "strong" drinker, I would suggest that you stick to martinis or drinks with no mixers. Canada does not do free pours for drinks so if you get a gin and tonic then it will be mostly tonic water. That is why I mention a drink of 15 above. If you bring a coat on a weekend, they will make you do coat check ($1.50 as of October 2015).

When we arrived, we were told we could not sit in the courtyard/garden, since we would have to enter the restaurant to access the courtyard/garden, and that dogs are not allowed inside. This was not a big deal, but I wish they could have let me know in advance. The restaurant had a terrasse outside which was dog friendly, and where we were directed to sit instead. Overall, service was good. One of the employees stopped by a few times to offer my dog water, which was very sweet of him. I expected the food at the Burgundy Lion to be mediocre, we didn't particularly come for the food, but for the fact that they are dog friendly. I had a salad, but this was such a well- made salad, and the portions were huge. I enjoyed it immensely. My husband also enjoyed his fish and chips. We split a bottle of Nebbiolo which tasted okay.
