I first heard of Les Saj from a friend who's familiar with good shawarma in the city. I've had their shawarma before during Covid via Skip, but it's been a while so I decided to come back recently. Their signature dish is the Arabic Shawarma, which is similar to a chicken shawarma, but cut into bite sized pieces. I'm a bit wary when it comes to chicken shawarma as I usually prefer beef or lamb, but they did do a good job here. Slight bit of dryness in the chicken, but their garlic sauce more than made up for it. I believe Ramallah and Baraka are both slightly better shawarma places than here, but Les Saj is definitely an excellent option if you're in the Polo Park area. read more

I was in Winnipeg for work and my coworkers suggested I eat here. The food was so good I ate here twice while I was in town. The chicken was flavorful the portion sizes were very generous. The price was very reasonable. The people working were very friendly and helped make recommendations on what to order. The restaurant was clean and kept up well. Always love the cozy atmosphere and the friendly service. I love the Chicken pocket and be sure to get extra garlic sauce for dipping your french fries, which are always served in abundance :-) The meat is sooo flavourful!! The falafels were a bit overcooked this time but very tasty. Timing is everything when it comes to getting a table for if it is busy they can quickly fill up. Worth it though, definitely! read more

Solid place. Love that more and more middle eastern places are opening up in the city. This one is in a strip mall on St. James Street. Saj Pockets - Chicken pocket $9.99 - Chicken with Cheese & Spinach. Think of a much better version of a pizza pop. My favourite are the Les Saj Platter. I love the Shish Tawouk platter $16.99 - marinated and grilled chicken breast on skewers with rice OR french fries, side salad, pickles, turnips, hummus, garlic sauce, homemade hot sauce and freshly baked Saj bread. The chicken is sooo flavourful and juicy. The lamb kebab is also a good choice instead of chicken. It's a very casual restaurant. Super friendly staff. I have been a regular and loyal customer of this restaurant and their menu line is authentic Arabic food. I worked in the Mideast for 11 years and I know exactly how the food should taste and Les Saj is legit when it comes to the real arabic taste. I am not reviewing their food here but I am concern on their deteriorating service plus the concerning sanitation on their restaurant facilities particularly tables and washrooms. I think they need to improve on these areas. I do believe that good food and sanitation should come along together plus fast service are keys to gain good impression from customers. read more

I love tryin out new food and this is a must try. I love spicy food so I ordered spicy shawarma. They weren't joking with their spicy food and i loved it. I'm just not impressed with how they serve your order. It looks like you ordered from a cafeteria or something. Paper plate, water bottle & sauce on s plastic container. I mean it sounds like I ordered a to go food right? But it's dine in. I just thought their good food deserves a better plating. Would still recommend it NOTE: order a lot of their white sauce. I tried this place on a whim when I was out visiting Winnipeg and had to stay closer to the airport. The place looks very unassuming from the outside, it's located in a strip mall next to a nail salon. I really was just expecting some normal Middle Eastern food, but I was really surprised. I have eaten falafel and Shawarma and most of the cities I've been to including Philadelphia, New York, Washington DC, and Toronto. I would put that falafel wrap next to almost any other place I've eaten at. That wrap was so good. If you ever have to stay in the area near this restaurant and like Middle Eastern food, you must try this place. I want to order so many things off the menu but since I was by myself I got the falafel wrap. I am so pleasantly surprised and hope this place makes you as happy as it made me. read more

Had my and wife's order remade 3 times . 1st. Wrap was burned tested like coal. 2nd. they forgot vegetable and sauce and hummus all it head was chicken and burned onions black . I'm not overreacting I'm not picky by any means but it was black and soaked in oil. I was not gonna eat burned crap. 3rd. And this is about 30-35min from when I originally ordered, wrap with chicken, again forgot Vegies sauce hummus just chicken and oily onions . And in my wife's wrap there was some kind of burned piece that's been in the oil tray of the grill for god knows how long. Walked back and the owner tells me " we remade it 3 times for you what do you else do you want? Here is your money back now leave! " Here is what I want :MY FOOD MAKE THE WAY I ORDER BECAUSE WE ARE PAYING FOR IT! I was a customer on a weekly basis for years and to get treated like that ? WOW - beast Shawarma I've ever had - seriously !!! The wrap had to be homemade because it was thin and outstanding. What a great spot! We were super hungry after a day of Christmas shopping, and were looking for a quick bite. Instead of stopping at the sandwich shop next door, we decided to head into Les Saj. Best decision we made that day. Easily one of the best food experiences I've had in awhile. I could've eaten there all day, if it wasn't so filling. We had the platter - a bit of everything -probably a little more than enough for two. Delicious, fast and friendly. Now I just need an excuse to eat there again soon! read more

On a quest for good Middle Eastern food as we were used to in Vancouver, so far not so good... until now ! Pleasantly surprised and pleased with the Falafel wrap I just had here at Les Saj. I particularly liked the Saj bread that the wrap was made with. The balls were as good as any I've had. The one complaint is that I do prefer to choose the ingredients that go into the wrap. You get it as it comes, but they do use pickles ! This is important. Very good overall and looking forward to going back to try other items ! read more

Great tasting schwarma and Donair. I found the taste to be very authentic and the service was great. Two small complaints. The portion size for the side dishes was a little small. The side of fries included only about 20 fries. Also, there was almost no air conditioning inside, and so it was quite hot in the restaurant on a 25 degree day in Winnipeg. Absolutely fabulous dishes. We were visiting friends in Winnipeg for 3 days and ate at Les Saj on 2 separate occasions. Everything on the menu is top notch, flavorful, expertly prepared and tasty beyond belief. We had the mexxa platter for 2, the beef donair, the chicken shish tawouk, the falafel bowl - all ABSOLUTELY STUNNING TASTES. The basmati rice is the best I've ever tasted. Same for the hummus and the garlic sauce. I have 3 complaints, but they are very, very minor. I wish they used real silverware, I wish they gave you an extra plate to build your meal on your delicious saj bread. And I wish they were closer to my home. I live 1,400 miles away in Philadelphia, PA. If you are ever in Winnipeg DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE. read more

I'm from Toronto so I have access to this cuisine very often. I was craving chicken shawarma so bad and was so happy to find this place! The pictures on Yelp look so appetizing. But sadly the great pictures only built up the disappointment. Chicken was cut into big pieces, which made it so dry and I could not taste the usual spices/flavour. The rice needed lots of salt. Hummus was good and pita was real tasty! The pita bread is the best thing about this place. I was also super disappointed that they did not add garlic sauce nor hot sauce.
